Hmmmm…. "Original Source Shower Gel Lime - 250mL" contains "40 real limes".

With limes currently selling at $0.80 each at my local Woolies, that's at least $32 worth of fruit juice in that $1.79 bottle of gel. Mmmm….your favourite lime-based cocktails have never been cheaper….or foamier!

    • It doesn't say 40 whole limes.

      • True. And the focus is clearly the OILS from the limes. So maybe they're just using the skins?

        • +1

          Forty skins or just fore?

      • it doesnt either say lime slices or something. still, its misleading then.

    • +7

You drink this stuff too? So glad to know i'm not alone!

      • +1

Do you put car wash in your hair too? ;) :P

      • Cheap lime juice right?

  • +6

This thing is a whole hype. There are no limes, avocados, lemons, strawberries, angel's armpit hairs, etc. in these concoctions. Seriously.

Read the ingredients list and come back to me if you find anything even remotely natural.

    • +1

I found an angel's pube.. can I contact ACCC for false advertising?!

    • +8

At least I can sleep easy tonight knowing I didn't buy a lemon…

      Get it? (lawwwwwwwllll)

    • https://www.ocado.com/webshop/product/Original-Source-Tea-Tr… Ingredients list for mint variety 1/2 way down page. Peppermint Leaf and Tea Tree Leaf oils feature fairly prominently but yeah…these shower gels are gaining popularity on OzBargain and not sure why.

      Ingredients:
Aqua, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Chloride, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Oil, Citrus Cinensis (Orange Oil), Pinus Palustris Oil, Polyquaternium-7, Sodium Benzoate, Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate, Lactic Acid, Styrene/Acrylates Copolymer, Benzotriazolyl Dodecyl p-Cresol, Limonene, CI 19140, CI 42090

        • So it mostly contains water and and a harmless hydrocarbon - and? (I mean other than the idiocy of buying any shower gel to start with)

        • +4

Lolwut. It's got Pinus oil in there hehe

      • +1

The Styrene/Acrylates Copolymer indicates this has plastic microbeads, which I understand have been banned in USA and may be banned here due to environmental impact.

        • Yes the packaging has plastic in it so it's likely some will be mixed into the body wash ;)

      • OP says - "The other "flavours" are not discounted."

I'll correct that for you….. - "The other "synthetic fragranced varieties" are not discounted"

        :)

    • Had a couple in the cupboard - different types. Raspberry, vanilla etc. are labelled as 'fruit extracts' and are quite high on the ingredient list - just after your detergent type ingredients (SLS etc)

  • +22

Try and avoid contact with the tip of your knob and the mint gel. Shits freezing once you're out of the shower.

    • Its scrubbing the other end that leaves you with the just been violated feeling ;)

    • You heard it here first. Shower gel tips with Christian Bale.

      • "You and me TheOneWhoKnocks, we're done professionally"…

    • +1 Do not buy the mint one unless you want to be in agony

      • thats true. it burnt my dick and asshole.

    • +2

      thanks for the heads up

      • I see what you did there.

        (Or am I overcrediting you?)

    • +1

feels like a head job from a snowman lol.

Being female I was left wondering what the other poster meant (different equipment you see) but you made the image clear as mud - thanks. LOL

  • +1

Thanks OP bought 10 aka lifetime supply

    • You need to use like 3x more than you expect to get a good lather with this, so 10 might last you a lot less longer than you'd expect lol

      • Only 25-30 years then? Less than $1 per year.

      • +2

The lathering has no effect on the cleaning action but it's good to know your overusing this product that consists of mostly water.

        • Spot on.

    • +1

Nice to know how often you shower.

      • I was thinking the same, felt sorry for the Missus ;)

  • Great price! Ordered 10.

  • Don't forget CashRewards for 4.00% cash back.

    • Coupon isn't on CR so you'll probably get nothing.

      • CR just told me I got 19c after ordering 3.

        • That's why I said probably. They mention on every store page that cashback might not work if the coupon is not listed.

    • +5

      CR? Forget it. Absolutely hopeless.

      • +1

        Yep, starting to think so.

        • +1

Same. Messaged 3 times this week…..no reply Or even a response.
Some supposedly cash rewards still pending for a few months now, magically changed value this week…..to a lower amount

        • +1

          @albanyson:

With their dodgy practices, CR should be banned from OzBargain.

The novelty's long worn off, it's high time some people stand up against having the wool pulled over their eyes.

  • +1

My personal favourite Vanilla & Raspberry is also at the discounted price :)
    http://www.amcal.com.au/sale/our-latest-catalogue/original-s…

  • Thanks.

  • anyone know if this is the price in store?

    • Doubt they can put in the promo code for you instore :/

      • +1

        haha thats true! thanks :)

  • +2

Excellent discount. This is my favourite shower gel.

They can regularly be picked up for 50% off (around $2) in Woolies and Coles, but this present Amcal discount is super special.

I just ordered 20 for collection from store.

I use a different "flavour" based on how I'm feeling or if it's before bed etc :) I cannot stop smelling the pink grapefruit in the shower :)

FYI, they have an entertaining Twitter feed. Lots of tingly balls tweets they politely respond to: https://twitter.com/originalsource

For those with COTD Club Catch and who want to be not as bad for environment then links below would work out to $1.71 each ($13.68 divided by 8 since 500ml rather than 250ml). 2 cents more from COTD and no cashback.

  • Thanks. I am excited to try out Pink Grapefruit. Tried all the others on special.

Online only, the stores have different pricing, vastly different!

  • I bought this lady time it was on sale at the Discount Drug Store. Would not buy it again no matter how cheap it is. Feels like colored water.

  • +1

orange and ginger has been at .99c at spud shed in WA for a while

  • I ordered this earlier today, for $1.99 each. I'm not sure where everyone is getting the lower price from.
I even used the coupon which gives an extra 10% off.

Not too concerned and very unozbargain of me to buy at the higher price without working out how everyone else here is getting them cheaper.

Has anyone else been getting them for $1.99 + 10% off. Lol, I typed all this and realised I'm only losing 10 cents vs what's posted in the OP.

    • you need to put both codes in to get the additional discount, enter "CARE" as 1 code then "WOW as another to get the full benefit.

  • "WOW" as coupon code is 15% discount off.
"Care" as coupon code is 10% discount off.

You don't need both coupons as you need to put "WOW" first to entitle 15% discount off and no more further.

    • Thanks for picking this up bedrock_101. I'll update the code on the OP so people are aware. Cheers.

FYI these bottles are made from Polypropylene (Recycle Icon #5) and are not Recycled by 99% of Australian Councils. Just because you happily throw these in the Green bin with a sense of pride, the vast majority of Waste/Recycling disposal services in Australia will just throw them in landfill.

  • Waste of money, these barely soap up even in softer water like Melbourne. Need twice as much as other types of shower gel just to lather.

    • You don't need lather to clean.

      • Of course not, but it means you can actually soap it up and get it over your body without using half a bottle at a time.
Just a crappy shower gel in my opinion. Smells good though…

  • +1

Amazingly, the local store does not prepare/pack orders. Instead, they're packed at the warehouse then delivered to the nominated store for collection.

    Source: local Amcal store.

  • For those live around Bayswater VIC, Shepparton Food Factory Sales is selling 250ml "Ginger and Orange" one for $1.
