  • Thanks blueturkey45. Congrats on your first post/deal. And such a sexy one with a lovely nerdy wifi utility. :)

From their site, refer a friend to get $10.
Is your link in OP referral link?

There's also the free version if you wanted to test it.

    • +1

Heh, thanks. Nope, not my referral link, didn't think about that one.

The free version is great for trying it out but does come with some annoying limitations. Especially if you plan to use this for surveying large corporate wireless infrastructure.

Updated: Link now with my referral id. Lets see if this works :)

  • So, is this tool practically for measuring wifi signal in particular spots and plotting it on a venue's plan?

    • pretty much. You can also run speedtests to the internet or local (using iperf) while surveying the area.

I use it for finding coverage holes and SNR issues at customer sites.

      • Sounds like the free ver will do the job for me. Ta

  • Would it be similar to inssider on Windows (less map ability)?

    • Yes. Netspot and inssider both have the functionality to scan for wireless networks and which is helpful to detect co-channel interference and make decisions on channel placement.

Where netspot stands out is the affordable survey and mapping abilities, compared to the competitive products for Windows (such as AirMagnet and Visi) that cost thousands of dollars.
