    Website getting hammered.

Only if you send proof that your puppy is dead.

  • Thanks OP

  • From memory you get bulk discounts on tins/pouches of wet cat food…..does that work out better or worse than buying online - I can't seem to see any bulk discounts online.

I'm sketchy on the discounts as I've only just got a kitten and only been into the store once.

    • Look at Kmart for items for your kitten. There are some things sold there way cheaper than Petbarn such as litter tray, scratching post, feeding tray etc. I bought whole heap of stuff there. Food for kitten I buy elsewhere.

      • Thanks mate. Totally agree, but I like hills brand for the food, and some of the wet stuff you can't get in supermarkets.

  • The prices seemed cheaper last time for Royal Canine Kitten 4kg
OZpet Kitty Litter is good stuff
Ozpet kitty litter tray is cheaper at Ozpet website (they have the hooded version too)
Advocate is more expensive this time around too

But in general, prices work out cheaper compared to Mypetwarehous and petstock.

    • Last time cat stuff had stacked discounts.

Check out Kitter Wood Pellets, they are like the ozpet ones but heeaps better, they are better in every way :)

        Thanking you.
        Will do

      • Hi jumpo, just a quick Thankyou for mentioning. Have since purchased and really pleased. Thanks :)

        • You are welcome! Just wish they were sold in more locations they are tough to find

        • Agreed. Have been purchasing thru luckypet - $54 for tray & litter, happy with price but would be nice to see in other stores too. Thanks again!

Quick question.. do you guys use an all wormer AND a heartwormer for your dog? is there any brand you'd recommend?

    • I don't have a dog but I would assume that if your worming tablet also does heartworms then there is no need to double up unless your tablet isn't effective.

      • +2

Many heartworm combinations don't cover tapeworms or hydatids

        • Most wormers do not include heartworms and vice-versa but as pointed out by Strid85. sentinel seems to cover normal worms and the hearworms as well. I might give it a go.

          cheers

        • @Zinger: It kills all intestinal forms of tapeworm except Spirometra spp

        • @snook:
thanks for the info Snook. What do I have to buy on top of Sentinel to be fully covered?

        • +1

          @Zinger: drontal

our vet recommended Advocate (Flea's, heartworm and worms) monthly then Popantel Quarterly (tape worm - not treated by Advocate). Popantel not available at Pet Barn but can get it other places online or from the vet. With this combination only thing I dont think is covered is ticks, so that will be a personal assessment on where you live and if your dog goes in Bush area that may have ticks.

      • Alternate combo that I use for my dog is monthly Milbemax for worms (including heartworm) then Bravecto quarterly for fleas and ticks. If your dog has the yearly heartworm injection at the vet then you only need to give Milbemax quarterly.

        • Annual injection replaces the quarterly Popantel (they cost like a few dollars each) while the injection is around $75-$100 (cant remember exact). I think the injections are a bit of a rip off……

    • Advocate does fleas, worms and heartworm.

      http://www.petbarn.com.au/advocate-dog-medium-blue-1.html

      Its cheaper on ebay though.

  • Sentinel has 35% off 6-packs. Stacked with this deal it's $56 for the small ones. Cheapest I've seen.

  • pet barn (well my local anyway) will match prices in store (as well as competitors) of your in a hurry.

….. also stacks on selected pro plan dog food which is on sale making it the cheapest you will ever find.

  • Just bought the cat some crunchies two days ago. It was 20% off but the delivery was $4.95 - still, not bad.

  • +1

good deal - saved $42 + not having to go to the shop

  • Why don't you guys stock Hills Science Diet (Prescription) U/D!??!!

    • +1

The prescription range is just to make $ for vets. Think there was a story on The Checkout.

    • Check out dogfoodanalysis.com if you want to find out what's actually in dog food.

      • I'm just going off what my vet told me as we need a low PH based diet..
Any alternatives that meet this criteria?

  • +2

Hill's Prescription Diets are usually not stocked by pet stores because the vet is supposed to be keeping tabs on the medical condition for which the diet is being used.

Sentinel covers heartworm, roundworm, hookworm, whipworm, and flea eggs, but it won't kill fleas - which means that the fleas can still bite and cause skin irritation/FAD. You need a topical treatment (e.g. Advantage/Frontline) to cover that. If you live in a tick-prone area, go with Frontline Plus because it kills paralysis ticks, but you need to use it every 2 weeks (for ticks).

Sentinel Spectrum covers heartworm, roundworm, hookworm, whipworm and tapeworm (including hydatid), and flea eggs.

If you use a product without tapeworm treatment, you only need to give the worming tablet every 3 months, not monthly. It doesn't hurt if you give an allwormer every 3 months on top of other monthly treatment, but it's probably a bit more expensive than buying just a tapeworm tablet.

    • @catbrain

Yea looks like only advocate is the all in one solution killing Adult Flea as well

      • +1

Advocate doesn't cover tapeworm, so you'd still need the quarterly tapeworm tablet. And it doesn't do ticks.
All of these treatments are a little bit different. The really important thing with all of these treatments is to following the instructions carefully, otherwise they may be ineffective.
If the dog goes swimming or gets washed a lot, you do need to apply the topical treatments more frequently for full efficacy.

        Also 4 weeks != 1 month.

        • thanks a lot

  • +2

I would recommend comparing Petbarn's sale prices with Petcircle's normal prices - I find Petcircle are often cheaper unless Petbarn is doing something like 30-40% off a certain product.

Don't waste your money on Royal Canin, mostly fillers. Poorly rated on dogfoodanalysis.com

    Nice Deal! Thank you OP!
Got 24 + 24 cans of Science Diet + shampoo for $52 delivered
12 for $12 but there is a limit of 24 per type
    http://www.petbarn.com.au/cats/cat-food-wet/wet-food/science…

  • Anyone know if you can choose repeat delivery and then cancel at a later date?

Aside from the flexibility, it also drops it by 10%

    • The 20% off seems pretty regular. I'd assume you can cancel, but you'd pay current price. The 20% only stacks while the coupon is valid.

  • Ok it does work. 5kg Science Diet Indoor cat food, $56 delivered. that's great.

Repeat del is no contract, although 3 months is perfect for me.

  • +1

    Thanks OP :)

  • Great Deal

  • The fancy feast works out to $0.72 per tin - Bargain! Rarely gets under $0.80 these days.

  • I normally grab Advance for my dogs but I think ill grab couple of 15KG bags of Eukanuba as i ts already on special so can stack codes…similar quality food anyway.

  • Thanks OP. The Frontline Flea product had 35% for 6 pack as well. :)

    • Yeah I got the same for Sentinel with 35% off for the 6 pack, then 20% off that. Almost 50% off

  • Has anyone come across this problem before, I log into my account and this line appears

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 536870912 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 512 bytes) in /var/www/html/lib/Varien/Simplexml/Element.php on line 195

Contacted them about it a couple months back, they reset my account. Worked again soon after, but when trying to log in again for this deal I'm having the same issue again! Tried on Safari/ Chrome/ on my MBP, MBA and IPAD as well as PC. Is it something on my end or their end?

    • Their end most likely, try again after they do a restart, perhaps at midnight daily, or Monday morning when the IT support guys start work.

Supercoat dry food works out to be cheaper at the supermarket.

So pet barn doesn't sell actual animals just pet supply?

  • I can't seem to get the 12 for $12 to work in my basket - has anyone managed to get this working?

    • Don't think it showed in my cart.

Science Diet Feline Adult Original Cat Food - 3kg $44.87
Science Diet Feline Chicken Dinner Cat Food 82g x 24 $43.44
      Subtotal $88.31

      Shipping & Handling $0.00
      Discount (DT5783) -$33.21
      Grand Total (inc GST) $55.10

Damn. Should I contact them about it?

      • Sounds like it's factored in actually. My maths is poor and I'm extremely lazy but I lean towards it being 'all good'

        • Cool, looks like it factors into the overall discount. Not the best way to do it but as long as it works out!

          Thanks.

    • It worked for me this morning.

Stick to dry food with no cereals or grains added. I wouldn't buy Eukanuba, science diet et al. They're well marketed to look like they are good but not really. Do some research and stick to the ones that actually states that it has no grain or cereal added as fillers.

    • +1

But my vet says science diet is the best?

      • Haha. I'll safely assuming that's sarcasm?

    • What brands would you recommend?

I'm not an expert but upgrading from Whiskers to Science Diet I've been pretty surprised on how much healthier my cat seems to be.

Started off on Science Diet for my Pup and everyone is always asking what the trick is to get such a shiny coat.

      • +1

I'm by no means an expert and I've only been made aware of proliferation of grains/cereal fillers in dog food.
I did a fair amount of research on various brands since then. The challenge is finding something that strikes a balance between cost and quality. If money is no object to you, you could go for Wellness Core. In my case, the cost would be a bit too much for two dogs so I searched and settled on Applaws. YMMV obviously and this was purely my subjective decision based on what I've read online through various sources

        • Cheers! Will give it a go.

        • @Christop86:

I give my cat a bit of kiwi peak dry (it's air dried at low temps so close to raw food apparently, and all meat.) It's expensive so I mix it with a can of wellness cubed wet food, which when there are deals like this one can be bought for less than a dollar a can (there's a special on wellness AND 20% off AND free delivery, so i buy a lot). Then I give my cat chuck steak from coles which I cut up with scissors into cubes and feed raw, good for cleaning the cats teeth cause he has to chew down on it for ages. Sometimes I give raw chicken necks which are super cheap.

Some would say this is extravagant but It's actually just a decent diet. If you've adopted a cat you've taken responsibility for it's entire life. I wouldn't feed my kids junk just to save a few quid so why would i do that to my cat.

          Maybe I'm just a softy.

    • Just grabbed another 15kg bag of Eukanuba for my Labrador cross, she seems to do well on it without gaining weight, in fact when I started walking her more, she started losing weight (like me) and we agreed with the vet to increase the feed to 3 cups a day. (For the dog, not me).
The reason I feed her Eukanuba is that the dog poo is very solid and easy to pick up from the garden or when we are out walking. I know Eukanuba is expensive, but when it comes to handling dog poo, I think it's worth it.
These Petbarn deals seem to be getting slightly worse - the first bag I got was $71, the second $79, and this one $85 (all including delivery). Still a lot cheaper than list price of about $120.

  • WA Innaloo will not match coupon price.
