Hi guys,
I am pretty unwise to leave this question to the last minute. I am one of those guys that never owned a credit card my whole life. However, time changed and my mortgage starts this Friday. I still prefer to spend my own money but I think it would be more economic to use a credit which I can take advantage of the interest free period and rewards on >$100 purchases.
Here are what I have now:
- An ING Orange Everyday for 2% cashback and ATM access. This account is also my offset account.
- A Citibank Visa Debit for oversea purchases and oversea ATM access
- I am planning on opening a CBA low rate card to get the $250 cashback but this card does NOT have a reward program
- I reckon I wouldn't spend more than $2K on the credit card a month before having kids
- My wife and I flights to China once every few years. Typically we use China Southern for a direct flight but if the FF miles could provide a significant saving I don't mind using other Airlines and transfer via HK or SEA.
- I am not sure if getting a card solely for its travel insurance is worth it
- I have gone through the CC wiki here but still couldn't decide
Obviously there is not a single card that can do it all so I am just trying to see what you guys have in your wallet at the moment and what do you think is the best combo.
Any feedback or recommendation is appreciated!

Be sure to get the card called Citibank Plus
Choose the right one from CBA and you will get free Travel insurance, and you dont need to purchase the travel with this card to get the insurance
