hi guys,
just looking at booking some tiger air flights to Perth, I had a really bad experience with them years ago, but they are the cheapest to go with.
Do ozbargainers think they have improved, and any tips if we do book with them.

They have definitely improved since Virgin bought them. Way ahead of Jetstar for on-time arrivals, departures and cancellations:

Also, their web check-in is back online which is what stopped me from flying with them previously.
flown numerous times over past few years, only problem I had was an ordered meal didn't make it onto the plane. no biggie, I only ordered the meal to fully utilise a gift voucher. They gave me some (non-alcoholic) drinks and snacks instead.
Would definitely fly them again.I have flown with Tiger half a dozen times in recently years all have been positive. I don't really care about the (no) cabin service or leather seats for hour long journeys. As said above, be discipline with lugguage and check-in time and you will be fine.
As for other providers my friend had really horrendous experience this Christmas. One afternoon flight was delayed until late at night and finally cancelled. The passengers had to stay at the airport overnight and fly the next morning. The only compensation was one bottle of water adn $8 food voucher.
I've flown with them 6 times in the last 12 months (bris-melb). no issues what so ever. always on time. plane clean. staff have been friendly.
Would recommend them.
Why don't you try a Jetstar price match, and if successful fly Jetstar instead?
Tiger and Jetstar don't typically fly within 1 hour of each other to or from Perth.
I've flown Perth > Melb and Perth > Syd with Tiger over the past year and the experience has been fine. The Melbourne trip was fantastic, we got to check-in early and were offered row 1 seats up the front of the plane with heaps of leg room, it was a really comfortable flight.
Worst I've had is a 35 minute delay taking off but apart from that I will certainly fly with them again.

I'm guessing you mean the Jetstar price beat? Jetstar has to have the same direct flight within an hour of the Tiger one. Here are the details:

i am frugal but will never use them, cancelled several flight from gold coast due to bad weather in melbourne/sydney… they sacrafice uncommon flights for busier ones… they r shocking for advice
airlines r like thai hookers, u get what u pay for and r great until u grt a rash

When flying the coast to coast route with Tiger you will get one of two planes, a 'jetstar' like aircraft with leather seats - or a really uncomfortable one. Either way its only a few hours and the cost difference is generally worth it.
Tips with tiger, dont exceed any baggage things and dont show up late and you will be fine. People tend to get angry when they show up with too much luggage and expect it to be free. And people also attempt to check in less than 45 minutes before their flight and get refused boarding.
In my experience there is nothing wrong with them. I genuinely believe that Jetstar are much worse, out of the past 6 flights I have had with Jetstar 4 have been cancelled within 12 hours of departure.
