I had the same problem - line up any two of the same flights on two computers, and the first one proceeds the other gets an error. To me it looks like there's only one discounted fare per flight.

Though I am finding some flights now when booking 2x pax, but very few, and only for non-flyable passages (return before depart). So it's probably because there are extremely little discounted seats per flight. I tried booking the other way around but still no luck. I'm giving up. Thanks for the fun TA.
I found some flights with 2 pax available. I guess they allocate a number of tickets per flight and the route you're looking at has one discounted ticket remaining.

On Air Asia you can actually claim some of your airport tax back quite easily if you don't show.

Sneaky Tiger only allow 1 person per booking, MEL-HOB route still has sale on 14/11 but when I tried to book 1 adult with 1 baby, it showed $20 for adult but $80 for baby, kinda make me think of putting him on gumtree.

I bought this same deal at the end of 2014 to Adelaide, Cairns and Sydney (from Brisbane) last August. $20 each way. I stayed for a night at each city. It was an amazing experience :)
And it's back now! I booked the last major sale they had in September last year for 70 % off, which I thought it was a good deal. Now THIS is a good deal. Looking back I should've held off and could've saved $330 for the same itinerary (2 pax)!!!!!!!!
So this time I only booked BNE-DRW, 2 people $120 all up. Only booked then realised I could've done a price beat with Jetstar as they also have a flight 20 minutes earlier than Tiger.

As long as you follow their rules (I.e competitor flight such as tiger in this case is cheaper, within 1hr before/after a similar Jetstar flight, etc.) the process goes so smoothly! Best part is all price beat fares are not only cheaper, but waive card/booking fees.

Damn! Wish I had of known this. Found flits from Syd to Gold Coast, $20 each way then saw the booking fee on visa. Of course all my cards are visa not MasterCard!
With Tiger you can fly to the Gold Coast at the end of January onwards for $39, which is $35.10 after price matching with Jetstar. (With Jetstar the best deal currently flying from Sydney when compared to historical prices would be Launceston direct in February for $45, though the sale ends today).
For $30 extra you can turn your faraway spring vacation to a round-the-corner summer vacation :)
