  • So it's technically 2 different codes for 2 different promotions right?

  • +1

I tried a hotel and it took a bit under 10% off a $842 total but sill saved $70. Similar for $1,100, it took off $91. Maybe doesn't discount the taxes/fees. Still pretty good

    • +1

      Yep, discount excludes taxes/service charge

  • Just double check before booking…I found agoda had cheaper fare in one instance even taken into account the 10% off from hotel.com

    • +1

Yep. The hotel I booked in Sydney for July is $795 before the discount on Hotels.com (and most other sites), and $608 on Agoda.

Hotels.com system is a bit funny, if you go directly to the website the fare is higher in many cases. I have a link sent by call centre last time and you can access the correct lower rate. It seems that their hotels.com app show the lower rate which is the same as that link. You can use the app to check if the rate you see online is higher or not. You won't get cashback for booking through the app though. I still couldn't figure out why there is lower price by using this link yet.

This is the link that I use, I don't think agoda price is lower, and hotels.com has price guarantee policy anyway. To make sure you got tracked for cashback, click on this link, then go to cashrewards and click on hotels.com link and now you can search like normal.

Also there is one more thing thhat I found out recently, it is cheaper if you select HKD as the currency, remember to use Paypal + 28Degree/Coles MC/Citibank plus debit card if you book using other currency. The equivalent AUD amount was $35 lower in my booking. I don't know why but I checked with a few other currency and it doesn't have this arbitrage

Since AUD has dropped so much value overnight, this may no longer be the case, make sure you check the equivalent in AUD first to compare.

      • You probably can access their web mobile page. This may have same price as the app. Also can use cashrewards in this way.

    • You might also want to double check agoda payment terms. Occasionally it says including tax&services when viewing the rate but after you are about to pay on the next page, it might change to "not" including tax&services. This can happen randomly and depending on whether you choose to prepay or pay at the hotel.

The discount is a bit weird. It is 10% off the discounted rate (Eg. Was $301.2, Now $273.8, discount was $27.38). It's actually 9% off.

Anyway, I found it to be using real rates before discount (same as expedia, booking, agoda, etc). Apparently agoda has a 10% sale right now with HNY2016 but I couldn't find anywhere to enter the code.

    • You enter the Agoda code at the end but it doesn't work anyway.

    • Discount doesn't apply to taxes/fees

  • Tried both codes on a hotel in San Francisco… both come back with 'That discount code isn’t valid for the hotel you want to book'

    check ratestogo sunseek20 20%off

    • Ratestogo is expensive, even with 20% off it is more expensive than hotels.com with 10% off

      • Yes and visa versa

  • Might be worth comparing prices at accor.com with their current 40% off sale.

  • Are you sure these codes apply to all countries and hotels?

I've tried both codes on a hotel in Singapore for 2 nights around $500-$600, one room that already had an additional 10% discount applied and again another one that is full price, both codes came back as…

    AUPAY10

That discount code isn’t valid for the hotel you want to book Terms and Conditions

    CASHREWARDS25

That discount code isn’t valid for the hotel you want to book Terms and Conditions

    What am I doing wrong?

I think I am meeting all t&c's, only thing I can see about the CASHREWARDS25 code is that it may have expired (only valid for the first 350 bookings made by all customers using this coupon)?

Also AUPAY10 should have already been expired!!! (12:01 am local time on 1 July 2015 and 11:59pm local time on 30 September 2015 on Hotels.com/paypal for a stay to be completed between 1 July 2015 and 31 December 2015)

  • i supposed no cashrewards for 10% off

AUPAY10 has worked for me twice this week.
I booked a hotel in Istanbul on 10/01 for just over $200 it gave 10% off.
I just booked another hotel to extend me stay today for $400 odd and gave 10% off again.
    Confirmed it works

    • Update: Tried to book a UK hotel today it didn't work.

  • Anyone know: if I book post-paid Hotels.com accommodation through PricePal, do I still get the full 5.4% Founder's cash back? Just wondering as Expedia provides a different rate depending on whether you pay up front or at the hotel.
    TIA.

  • Confirming working for even low amounts - worked for a $100 booking and a $50 booking - giving about 9% off (10% off ex-GST amount)

    Thanks!

  • Great thanks OP - Saved on a booking for Auckland hotel next month :)
