  • EDIT: Thanks for putting location in title!

  • That's a great deal.

  • Are these daily specials only at Marsden park.

  • +3

    That's a very small desk.

    • +1

      size does not always matter

    • And someone who can only fit a small desk in probably wants to maximise their storage space and this has very little

Sometimes I think designers are just trying too hard. Good price though

  • +1

Awesome deal! Too bad its a little too wide for where I want to put it.

    • +1

Cut it to the size you want and drill holes to reattach the legs, shorter drawer and etc. It's a little bit of work, but a good saving if this one is the ideal design and finish for you.

      • +1

That foil bench is likely to look like crap if you cut it down

  • +1

    Do they ship?

  • +3

Gee… I don't see why that one becomes that expensive… Is it the material used are different to others?

    • Top panel: Particleboard, Melamine foil, Foil, Foil
Back panel: Fibreboard, Melamine foil, Foil, Foil
Side panel: Fibreboard, Melamine foil, Foil, ABS plastic
Frame/ Leg: Steel, Epoxy/polyester powder coating

      Same same

  • +5

That desk looks really nice, but only 40cm deep. That's not much, not sure it would make a very comfortable work space

    • +1

Pretty much just enough for monitor and keyboard

      • +2

you won't be able to fit a laptop or 2nd monitor.

        • +1

let alone room for your elbows to rest on while typing!

    • +1

Buy 2 and sit one behind the other?
Re-use the other drawers somewhere else if other side is against a wall.

  • +3

Beware, this desk is nice and long but it is not very deep. (40cm) If the depth suits your requirements, it's a great deal.

  • +2

bought one of these last year, the desk is too wide and only 40cm depth.

  • +1

Original price $499, that's very nice for Ingvar Kamprad.

    • -2

nice for what? Is that even english?

  • +1

Makes me sad, been eyeing this in the Perth store for months.

  • +11

For those thinking about purchasing this make sure you guys get in early. There are people who go early and load up their trolleys with these products and wait till they are reduced. I went in last week and this lady had 4 tables that were going to be discounted at 2pm in her trolley and was waiting in the food section since 11am

    • +1

      Thank's abhii101 for the tip, :)

      • There will be a bunch of us with loaded trolley's on our phones or computers waffling down some Swedish meatballs with grins on our faces.

    • +1

That… is actually a good idea!

    • +1

She must be an OzBargainer. Or sometimes they'll hide them somewhere in IKEA and come back just before sale time.

    • +8

That lady is probably reading your post now and cursing at the monitor… #tradesecrets :P

  • +1

only 4 pieces in Marsden Park

    Good luck

    • wow 4 pieces, forget about it then. Ikea staff will get them first.

    • source?

      • +1

        The Ikea website

      • source?

IKEA's website, if you choose to believe it.

      • http://i.imgur.com/fqlv7Cm.png The estimated stock for Friday/Sat/Sun is clearly not going to be correct :P

Click "Check Stock" button. You get the green 'it's in stock' icon.

Click "Check availability and location" which only appears after you click "Check Stock" and it takes you to that page with the actual number.

what stopping me from buying today and return tomorrow and buy again the same piece ?

      • Because they physically take it back, put it on their returns pile for inspection, before it is then placed back out into general stock.

      • Morals?

  • +1

This is so bad, i have been looking at this table for months, why don;t they have it on special in Victoria?

  • +9

Is this an Apple iTable or something? The colouring is right and it's the only thing that explains why anybody would pay $500 for it?

  • Surely ths isn't worth more than $179

  • Only 4 in stock!! Great deal, but surely going to be a waste of time for most out there.

    • And so it was. All gone

    • +1

They will probably bring out more stock tomorrow

  • As someone who is into makeup, I can say that this desk is extremely popular for use as a vanity within the various makeup communities i'm a part of. I'm kinda devastated that it's not available in Melbourne for that price :(

  • I Don't See how this was $499 when the Malm is $199

Which i would definitely purchase for $100

    http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/60214140/

    • I agree … but I did purchase this BESTÅ desk at $299 when it was on sale. Mainly because its dimensions fit well with my other BESTÅ components.

Here is a photo explaining why its dimensions are important: http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u422/zeroauge/01_zpsizt3…

      • Wow Your House looks great!

I Agree it does fit well but it is still sooo expensive for what it is i can't understand why the bigger desk cost's less.

  • Man thats cheap but not in melbourne :(

Been eyeing off these all year for my renovation and about to start on the study over Australia day. Was going 2 use 2 of them.

    Bah.

I have a family member there now and apparently the manager said they had 50 in stock that they had shipped in last night from their main warehouse and people were lining up since 8:40am like they would for iPhones and they all ran straight to the warehouse aisle and loaded up their trolleys…. He saw one guy with 4 in his trolley. Greedy people, I just wanted 1 haha :'(

    • There's a couple in the food court with laptop plugged into AC power and 4 of these in their trolley waiting for 2pm. There's a sold out tag on the shelf. So greedy.

      • Probably ebaying them as we speak.

        Dicks.

  • Yeah my wife went out there for one and saw the same thing: https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/2269/36347/img_0523.jp…

    People can be such pricks…

  • Some how I got the last one on the shelf . Isile 21 location 16….. But I saw people have it in their trolley from way back. Maybe there is more stock, try ask them.

    • No more stock, talked to the manager. Some people's greediness is beyond me.

EDIT: What time did you get there to pick the last one from the shelf?

      • No, Staff told me that there are only 6units for sale and plus 2 display units…

  • At 2pm on the dot no stock of the $99 desk. Basically Ikea are advertising a sale with no products. They should be banned from ozbargains

  • I reckon you could get a cabinet maker to make this desk for half the original price, probably even less.
