Ozbargain's favourite USB flash drive is on sale again down from $44.99 US. Shipping works out to be $5.05 US for me and it'll probably be similar for others.

I'd recommend using a credit card like Citibank or 28 Degrees to get a better rate on currency conversion.

Can save a whopping $1 on postage if you use Amazon Pickup at a newsagent/participating outlet nearby.

As far as i know, you will still pay for the same postage regardless if you want it post to your home or a pickup location.

Pick up locations are a bit cheaper than my home address.

256Gb version is also super cheap.

Price: $59.99 + $5.05 Shipping & Import Fees Deposit to Australia

    • Converts to roughly $89 aud, cheaper to get 2 of the 128gb ones.

      • +1

Its cheaper to get the 256 by a few cents as the topic didnt include the postage cost.

So it depends on usage get one huge one or two smaller.

How do these compare to the Sandisk Extreme USB 3.0?

    • +3

      Much slower.

    • Sandisk Extreme is simply fast for everything, big and small files, read and write.

    • Bought one SanDisk Extreme Pro CZ88 USB 3.0 128GB 260MB/s during ebay 15% discount

      • How much was it after discount + postage?

        • I think $76 after discount including postage

  • And once again clear has a 10/10 profile picture.

Decided to retire the JV/TA hybrid with terrible make up. I'll target someone else soon.

      • Leave poor Scotty alone ;)

        • I was actually considering it…

Do PNY still play dirty tricks with transfer speeds?
I recall some stories about them sending out premium products for magazine reviewers then lapsing back to using cheapo internals once they'd been generally accepted

    • PNY along with Kingston and OCZ did it on their SSDs a couple years back. I've not seen anything about it being done to their flash drives.

  • the slider thing is what puts me off. at some point i envisage it will break just like an old USB I had do the same.

  • Performance is good but that slide cover is stupidly designed and a deal breaker.

  • Keep in mind fellas that the 2nd generation of these keys arent anywhere near as good as the 1st gen, they changed the NAND flash resulting in slower speeds and less reliability.

Hence why the rather large % of 1 star reviews.

    • hi copie, do you know what the change in transfer has been from gen 1 to gen 2 by any chance and how to tell which is which. I've got lots of the PNYs but didn't realise there was a change in the design.

      • +1

They both have the same casing, they changed the flash sometime late 2014, only way to tell is via speed testing them, a gen 1 with the good flash should net over 100Mb/s read/write and the gen 2's are lucky to break 80Mb/s

Ive got 4 of the 128's and 2 of the 256's and 1 of my 128's is gen 2 and speed wise its noticeable when transfering files.
