Two changes rolled out this morning at 12:30am (which caused quite a few errors here and there resulting lost data, which I will talk about later).
Add "noexpired" option for searching. With this option turned on, deals that have already expired OR deals with no expiry date but are more than 90 days old will be filtered out. As requested here.
Node type consolidation. Previously we have different "node types" for deal links, coupons and freebies, so the first thing you need to do is to choose between the three when you click on "Submit" to post a deal. Now there is only one node type, with optional coupon code and "freebie flag".
One problem with multi-node-types approach is that it is difficult to change type after a deal is posted. However it is often required as sometimes people might click on "Deals" but posted something with a coupon code, or posted a deal that is actually a freebie, or post a freebie that requires a coupon code!
Now it should be possible for the O.P. to add coupon or turn on/off the freebie flag without going through some SQL hacks :)
The changes have actually been developed last week but I found it difficult to find time to apply the changes. During the day (8am-12am!) there are usually 50-100 users online so I really only be able to apply the changes after mid-night — which is what I did this morning at 12:30am (those who were online then would see the "Site in maintanance page")! Too bad that I overestimated my ability to stay focused at that time of the day, and forgot to run one of the upgrade scripts :( Thus all those errors this morning when you try to post new deals.
It should hopefully be fixed now (finger crossed). OzBargain is still in the process of continuous development. If you want some features, post them in the announcement/feedback forums and I'll get to them if I can find time.
Cheers,
Scott
Sounds good… thanks for your hard work Scott. :)
