Canon CLI8R/CLI8G Printer Ink Cartridge (Red & Green) $1 @ JB Hi-Fi

40

Suitable for Canon Pro9000 or Pro9000MKII

I wonder if its a price error, or colour discrimination. Yellow is $30.

  • This reminds me of the great $1 game jbhifi screw up of 2015..

On a serious note, cartridges have a shelf life and these may be reaching the end of theirs maybe? Also used by specific canon printers you could probably count on a few fingers so not as common as CMYK cartridges which they can still milk consumers for at high prices.

I wonder if people still use these individual coloured cartridges…

  • Wouldn't be a price error, they're probably just about to go out of date (or already are out of date). Better selling it for $1 then writing it off. The reason why Yellow would still be $30 is that the non-CMYK carts are only for the Pro9000, therefore have a super limited market.

Worked for a consumer electronics business in the past and recall having all stores transfer their expired ink to one branch to sell en masse for $1/piece as an alternative to writing it off as damaged.

  • I still have the Pro9000 MkII which uses these but the head is dead dead dead and replacement cost is exhorbitant. I ended up buying a replacement 4 colour A3+ printer instead. I really wish I could the Pro it but it's just too expensive to keep running.
