Replaced Phone Digitiser but Doesn't Turn on, Only Vibrations

Bought a digitiser/touch screen for the Asus zenfone 6. Replaced the cracked screen and made sure connections are all correct.

Initially the charging/low battery picture popped up on screen so that confirms that the screen worked at one point, soon after it disappeared and the screen had stayed blank since.

When I connect the micro USB charging cable, the orange charge indicator comes on and about 5 seconds later the phone vibrates to signifiy it's connected.

When I hold the power button on it vibrates as a few seconds (the kind of vibration you get from a phone starting up). But unfortunately screen stays black.

I've been at it for over 2 hours, constantly checking my connections and the ribbons to make sure nothing is loose, have disconnected and reconnected the whole digitiser and still nothing had changed.

Could I have possibly damaged the circuit board or the ribbons to cause nothing to appear on screen? I'm pretty sure I didn't since I was being very careful. Else I'm thinking that it's just a bad digitiser that I got.

Anything else that I might be missing before I have to buy a new phone? Thanks very much.

  • Its possibly be the backlight fuse. Shine a torch and see if you can see the screen.

    • Tried the torch, nothing =[

      • So you know if he phone boo5s up at all? With the sim card in there does it ring when called?

Diagnose of it boots up all the way first or stuck in boot loafer. Sometime you may have pinched one of the buttons too and it's always pressing. Makes android not boot all the way.

Also reseat all the flex connections again. Even ones you didn't remove.see how that goes.

  • Try putting it in recovery mode?

    • Yeah tried volume up and power, all I get is vibrations.

  • Sounds like the LCD is bad. Did you buy a digitizer/LCD combo or just the digitizer?

    • Bought the combo

      • If I were you I'd then ask for a replacement. Sounds like a bad LCD.
