I know this bcoz I play Jap and Korean games on my Aus PS3
The only downside with playing non PAL games on the AUS PS3 is getting the game addons thru the PS Store. Since we use the UK based store, you may not be able to get any addons/upgrades for your NTSC games.
unless you make a us account and buy from that store (i buy psn cards from ebay)
