Velocity Points - how to earn a point to keep points from expiring?

Hi guys,

Asking for my friend who lives overseas.
So he has a Velocity account with ~3k points expiring in Feb 2016.
I understand the expiry of points is if you have activity within the last 18 months, then your account will remain active.
For Qantas Points, you could quite easily simply install the Qantas toolbar and then make a search to earn a point.

I can't think of something similar for Velocity..
There's digital mailbox which requires signing up, there are credit cards which will require signing up.

Oh, and I have thought of transferring the points out or using them.
The minimum GC redemption is 4500pts for a $25 GC.
The minimum to transfer is 5000pts.
I was thinking an option would be to transfer to KrisFlyer, and I'm assuming the points on the KrisFlyer side will be considered "new" and will not have the same expiry. KrisFlyer have a different expiry process anyway.

    Create an e-rewards account. After just a few surveys your friend will have enough Opinion points to claim Velocity points. Will take them less than 2 months.

    Does your friend have any plan for these points? Maybe just donate them to one of the charities? Not sure if there is a minimum value to donate.

    3k aren't that much really.

      It'll buy a $10 iTunes card or a Lonely Planet Travel Pics book. I just cashed in 2k points to buy the book as I love those kind of things :D

    You can earn Velocity points by filling up with petrol at BP service stations

    Top up at a BP and use a velocity card. If he doesnt have one, he can get one over the counter and then register it to his Velocity account online

    EDIT: D'oh, overlooked the fact that he lives overseas.

      this can still work. YOU need go to BP and buy something, ask for the temp velocity card once you're there, and give the temp card details to your mate ask him to log into velocity and redeem it.

      done.

      you can ask for your mate to reimburse you if you really want

    Yeah. I accrue points through either BP or using Estore referral for Ebay.

    Just buy something in BP and get a temporary card and get him to link it to your account. Its valid for any purchases for 30 days. It might be worth him ordering a new card to your place and you using it when fueling up.

    Thanks guys for all the ideas. I think the BP/eBay way sounds the easiest! I'll get round to that soon.

    In fear of the eBay way not working though (in a similar way to CashRewards not recording a transaction), I think I'll do the BP way.
