Porting nightmare? I reckon its painless.

    • ye..great when you can't make phone call or no internet.. or yes you can recharge in the mean time but it's not a option for Ozbargainer

      • In 99% of cases I've ported, usually in evening its taken less than an hour for service to port. I declare that painless..tit for tat on the neg.. Seriously dude.. It was an opinion.

        • I didn't neg??

        • +4

@ek: I've evened out both your negs. Now keep calm and bargain hunt.

        • Tit for tat? C'mon now we're grownups here.

          Aren't we?

        • @ek: Fair play.. My apologies then.

      • Not when you have a dual-sim phone.

I contacted Optus & their "Specialist Management Team" in the end….no way would they let me "change my existing out of contract post-paid" service to the $40 10GB plan. On reading today's post….tried them again…."Yes you can change - but it'll cost you $60 pm, not $40!!!"

    • +1

Ye only prepaid customer for this..maybe you can change over to prepaid plan and back to this deal?

      • +1

That's exactly what I had to do. The Optus Specialist was very helpful for me. She changed me from post-paid (off contract) to a pre-paid plan and then changed me straight back to this $40 post paid plan.

I used to be on the $45 plan (which provided 4GB data and 150 minutes of International calls), now with my bundle discount, I am only paying $30 for 10GB data and 300 minutes of International calls.

yea customer service way way better than Telstra. I did the port for the missus and painless for some complications. +1 for Optus customer service!

Amazing deal. Additional $10 off of you have optus broadband. At $30 this deal won't be beaten.

  • top deal . Thanks op !!

  • What happens if you have unused prepaid credit? Can they put this as credit on your plan?

    • You lose it

      • Can the prepaid credit be forwarded to another number?

  • -3

Point to note before going to this plan.

10GB is only for first recharge

This plan expires every 28 Days - you almost end up paying 13 months in a year :)

    • +3

That's for prepaid. Don't automatically click the chic…as per the title, this deal is SIM only plan

  • does this become $30 wben bundled with existing services…for 10GB etc…

    • Yes with Optus home broadband bundled

  • +1

I am an existing Optus Prepaid ($45/4GB plan) customer and can confirm I was able to change to this new $40/10GB plan simply by calling Optus.
The new plan works out to $30 a month due to already having Optus Home broadband bundle (-$10 per month). Great deal thanks OP!

    • doesn't work for me, both the online chat and call centre refused to change plan for me, as I am an existing customer

      • As has been posted before, jump on prepaid then back onto this postpaid deal.

  • +1

Just went to their online chat. If you switch from postpaid to prepaid, then prepaid back to this post paid deal, you will lose the value you have paid for the prepaid, especially if you do both switching on the same day. I am planning to switch to prepaid, pay the cheapest $30 plan, use finish the data, then switch to this post paid deal on the last day (4th Jan)

  • Damnit.. recently signed up to the 8gb for $80 plan with the Z5 and often hit 10gb resulting in $100 p/m.
    Thanks Optus..

  • can i get 10gb every month?
i did not find this plan get 10 gb data every month…
    otherwise, maybe i'm blind…

  • Finally got ported over today from Spintel. Happy as Larry thanks OP.
