  • Wow nice find.

  • Says enter postcode for postage estimate (was worried it was metro only as per normal), says it is free to the country, so yay. Get further into the checkout process and then it says "Dan Murphy's Connections We are currently not delivering to this postcode". Grrr.

    • That stinks. Does DM free shipping offers normally (eg not the connections range, when they have offers for everything EXCLUDING BEER) cover country deliveries?

      • Normally it is Metro only (their website says: "Unfortunately, we can't offer free delivery to our Northern Territory, Tasmanian, regional or country customers" as an umbrella clause for all DM stuff). Last year on some promotions I was indeed able to score some normal DM free delivery items. I live 40 mins from a DM store, not back-of-Bourke (although Bourke probably has a Dan Murphy's anyway).

Correction: If I buy a $998.95 bottle of whiskey (not a Connections one), they are happy to offer me free delivery in violation of their "no free delivery to people who don't have a grog shop within a stone's throw" policy. Go figure.

Edit: Hold the phone. If I add lots into the cart, go through checkout, remove lots before payment, it lets me get the 2 cases for $75 promo with free shipping. Yay (and please excuse earlier rant).

        • @blerk: Nice job finding the loophole!

Wonder if that would work with beer?…

        • @Mobe1969:

what you doing at 5am on Saturday morning checking out grogs listings??

        • @lovepub: LOL

I get up very early. 4am. Check my mail. Check the web sites I frequent…

    • Website says "Free connections delivery for metro areas cut off is Thursday 10th Dec" you said you were country

      • The Xmas delivery cut off for Dan Murphy's Connections for Regional (which I am in, as per DM's postcode list) is also 10 December. The Country Xmas cut off was 3 December. (See https://www.danmurphys.com.au/help/delivery-information-cont… for DMC's cut offs). Even if it was due to rock up post-Christmas, they still won't let me buy it, the timing is not important.

The problem is that it has "free shipping" automatically attached (which blocks all non-metro purchasers). I can't buy it without the option of free shipping ($12 for Regional) either so I can't take advantage of the 2-for-1 deal.

  • So no reviews on DM on this product….So is it any good?

  • +1

Thanks! I just bought 2…. buy first, drink 2nd, ask whether it's good later…. ;)

  • +2

Only 12 bottles a case. So you are pretty much only getting 1 real case (even though they are 500ml bottles).

    • +1

Well, I'd classify it by volume as equivalent of 1.5 cases.

    • Thanks, hadn't realised that.

Same trick as other companies reducing the volume in a pack.

  • Bought. Thanks OP for the find.

  • thanks OP was running out

    came at a perfect time

    • Given my experience with DM shipping in general and DM connections shipping in particular, expect them maybe before New Years if we are lucky.

      • My order was 'apparently' shipped yesterday. So I doubt it would take a courier that long to deliver.

        • Don't bet on it. I've made 4 connections orders and all have taken more than 2 weeks. They get shipped from the maker to DM shipper, then sit about with a status of "waiting on cross dock" for about a week, then they might ship it actually to you.

        • @Mobe1969: Crush my hopes and dreams lol

        • +1

          @samboread:

LOL. No just preparing everyone so they aren't surprised when they don't turn up next week… Hell, I don't even have my $19 cascade pale ale from last week, and that was from DM direct. The tracking on that looks like:

Ready for Delivery (On Cross Dock) Delivery BRISBANE
          Consignment created 04/12/2015 14:27:07
Consignment ready to process 04/12/2015 14:27:09
          Awaiting allocation 04/12/2015 14:27:32
          Rescheduled 06/12/2015 07:09:51
          With driver 07/12/2015 06:03:49
          Changed Carrier 07/12/2015 13:00:46
          Exported to Onforwarder 07/12/2015 13:01:02

The tracking on the connections is irritating too. You can get a link at My DM which is nearly hidden, and it takes you to "Nextday" (LOL) courier site, and then you end up with two different consignments to wait on. Now the connections ones have two consignments, maker to sydney, then the order shows as "Awaiting Pickup (On Cross Dock) SYDNEY" after the first part, for ages.

Their overall rubbish shipping is a good part why I was always praising Aldi Liquor, even though sadly they don't seem to cater for beer anymore with their free shipping. Previously, I'd get my beer to Brisbane the next day. It was astounding. Dan Murphy's don't even offer discount beer shipping with their free shipping, and it'd be OK if the beer I wanted was available for click and collect, but it never it. So when they do offer free shipping it is a waste of effort. Oh wow, I can order something from your web site and have it delivered in 2 weeks, OR I can just pick it up in store. Decisions decisions…

@Mobe1969: Thought I'd update, After sitting at NexDay for a week, it was passed onto FastWay which delivered yesterday :)

        • @samboread: Mine arrived friday. I posted below. Fasted connection order to date…

OK guys something crazy just happened…
    1.) added the 2 cases of cider - total @ $75
    2.) added 4 cases of cascade pale ale (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/222876) - total @ $155
    3.) added this code for $10 off https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/215250 - total @ $145

When I went to check out it stopped and said I couldn't stack my codes also only 3 cases of Cascade were available. It then presented the "best possible offer". I just bought:

3 x cases of 16 x cascade (click and collect) + 2 x cases of Jachmann cider (delivered) for $104.70

    • Best possible offer? What the heck is that?

      Bargain though. Congrats.

      • +1

I'll be the generous one over Christmas now!

        • LOL. I was nearly going to try your sequence, but I didn't want to get all that beer. I did get one carton the other week, just to try it. I couldn't drink 4 of them though!

I was wanting to place an order using that gift150, but I need to get an extra 2 cents of product!

  • This is still in stock but the offer of 2 for 1 is no longer valid.

    • I just placed an order for two cases for $75. So I'd say it still works!

      • I tried it when the deal originally came out and I saw the total as $75 for two delivered. When I looked at my cart yesterday it was $150 for two. Started again and same thing. Just checked again now and same thing. Strange. I can't make it work any more.

      • +1

But now I tried with a private browser session and it works. I remember that originally the deal was written in red in the cart to draw your attention to it but that is removed now. Still strange but thanks for alerting me. I'll ask for the deal to be unexpired.

  • any other reviews on this cider? can any 1 compare it to any other brand?
i'm still fairly new to ciders but have been trying all the recent Dan Murphy ciders on sale
I seem to prefer something a little less sweet that still has the beery scent/taste

that Willie Smith Organic Cider that won all the awards from the link listed on the comments is also on DM
    https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_967498/willie-smith…
    not cheap though

  • Delivery guy came around close to 8pm with mine this evening. Was quite surprised it was that late but happy cause I was home from work :D

  • mmm seems its over now

  • Mine arrived yesterday. Actually quicker than my prior connections orders.

    • hey Mobe, so what's the verdict on this cider?
would love someones opinion before I order.
      cheers

      • +1

Might be an acquired taste. Strong alcohol wise, and definitely not a fizzy candy cider. Not like a scrumpy type either. Lightly carbonated. A unique taste and aroma. Drinkable, but not something you'd have more than a bottle at a time.

        • 2 reviews out on DM already, not looking good. thanks 4 your input, will pass

  • Order placed 09/12/2015 going to Brisbane - still yet to arrive.

15/12/2015 Goods sent from central warehouse
    17/12/2015 Goods received at depot
    17/12/2015 Awaiting allocation
    22/12/2015 Rescheduled & Changed Carrier
    23/12/2015 Changed Carrier

    Very slow to leave depot!

"nexday.com.au" should change their name to "nextweekortwo"

Just hope they make it here for xmas day

    • Yes, now THAT sounds like my typical DM Connections order. I hope you get it, but I warned above! :)

  • seems deal is back on.
are people liking this cider much?
