  • The 500GB HDD for this at $96 costs just as much as what the 4GB console is at the moment.

But then that means a 500GB Xbox 360 for under $200.

  • Would any USB stick from any brand do the job ? Any formatting etc ?

    • I'd suggest buying the 500GB HDD for Xbox 360 would be much faster than a USB flash drive and lots more capacity.

      • That or an old USB 2 external hard drive. I'd prefer the internal myself, but I'm sure there's plenty of people with slower 120GB - 1TB HDDs they don't use after getting some USB 3 ones, so thats an option.

I haven't tried it on the 360, but I don't find I have issues on the Wii U when it comes to playing off a USB 2 drive, and many of the games are a similar size.

    • This is a good price, just grab one. Any usb sticks will work but preferably newer ones for speed

And try your luck on $1 games which may or may not be cancelled tomorrow!

      • But then a cheap USB flash drive wouldn't give that much storage capacity. And just buying a 128GB USB flash drive from an Australian retailer would set you back $100 alone yet the 500GB HDD is $96. And also the fact that USB flash drives have a tendency of dying after having a limited memory flash cycle. I know i'd prefer paying $96 for the official Xbox 360 500GB HDD rather than $100+ for a 128GB flash drive.

        • Depends how many games you need at once. For most 2x16gb should be enough

    • buy a 1 or 2 tb external hd instead of that rip off 500gb one.

      • But then would that be compatible ? Can I just buy, say, Seagate external hard drive ?

        • and if you jtag/rgh it can use anything pretty much :P

      • I think the 360 can only use 32gb regardless of size - they gently shove you toward gettting the offical ones.

        • Actually, the console's now updated to support hard drives up to 2TB.

        • @silverrat23: thats pretty sweet, must have happened this year? I didnt know, i got xbone last xmas

  • +2

Good to see some people got something out of the EB sale.

  • Bought one too. Thanks.

Actually, the console's now updated to support hard drives up to 2TB.

When did that happen? The official site is still saying up 32 gb.

  • Buy this one and buy a ssd 120-240 gigs depending on price! Load times will be much faster

    • I take it your ignoring it will be connected by USB2? So it'd be a complete waste of money when you can buy a 2TB external portable drive for around $100.

      • He probably means internally - you can easily buy the internal drive "case" off Ebay, and then just slot it inside the Xbox (which uses a SATA port).

That said though, I'm running an external 2Tb drive (via the USB ports) and it works fine, it's a MUCH easier approach :)

        • Any brand of external hard drive will do ? Seagate, WD etc ?

        • @Aplpw:
Yep, I use a 2TB WD fyi, around $100 on Amazon at the time.

  • +1

Why not just get this bundle instead? Mad Monday appears to be extended, presumably due to yesterday's crash.

    • Xbox 360 500GB + 3 games console bundle for $198 isn't sold out yet. That there is a very good deal.

The 500GB HDD alone separately is $96.

  • Sold out

  • Looks like any way the Mad Monday sale is over now.
