  • Have bought a couple of things through them. One shipped through TNT for free. They had the best price to begin with and offered free express shipping so I really can't complain. The other one was the Blitzwolf USB hub deal and it took over a month to get to me. Still for the price I can't really complain. At the end of the day if you don't receive the item paypal is there for you.

Blitzwolf isn't sold by Geekbuying. That's another website.

      • Sorry clear you're right. First item was Ainol Mini PC shipped free through TNT and came within 3 days. Second item was Tronsmart Quick Charge 2.0 18W USB Car Charger and came within a reasonable amount of time.

  • Yeah, they're legit, but do expect to get thoroughly spammed by them after sales, their unsubscribe system doesn't seem to work, so it took me ages to get them to stop by email.

  • What about gearbest which one is better?

    • not gearbest! (search Ozbargain / Whirlpool).
geekbuying is mostly electronics, gearbest has a mixture.
Both can and do supply as advertised… sometimes.
Both can give you nightmares if you have a fault/issue.

      • Gearbest generally pans out in the end. Do take into consideration that people are far more likely to post negative experiences than positive ones. I've had no issues with Gearbest and have had maybe 5 or 6 orders. I find Geekbuying to be slightly more "on the ball".

Gearbest ended up getting banned from Ozbargain as a very large amount of orders had not been shipped/arrived after several months.

  • If you trust the china walled garden to manage your personal information these sites are just what you'll think is cool.

Favourites include their secure (HTTP only) checkout and account/password management mechanism. Easy ways to encounter 'Buy Once, get Charged Many, etc.

    • I didn't even realise they weren't using it. I'll pass it on thanks.

  • Short Answer.

No. Don't buy from Geek Buying.

I bought a Ainol Mini PC in October last year, it took close to a month to arrive (understandably).

I used it for a about a week before the HDMI gave out. I posted the unit back immediately. They confirmed receipt on the 28th December.
They stated it would take 2-4 weeks to repair (!?!). I was surprised, but ok.

4 weeks go by, no repaired or replacement item is forth coming, when asked I'm told the factory is busy, be patient.

Then was told the factory is closed due to Chinese New Year.

As recently as the 19th Feb I was told
    "
    Thanks for your reply.
Ok, we will send it to the factory for checking and repairing.
Any news we will keep you informed.
Wish you have a nice day."

So it hasn't even gone to the factory!!!!!

    This week I've been told.
    "Dear customer,

    We asked the factory,
the factory said it might be repaired in this week.
So if there is any news we will keep you informed.
    Pls dont worry."

There is no certainty with anything they seem to do. 2 Months to fix a product is unacceptable. I'm frankly furious about the whole matter, it should have been replaced when they received it end of December.

I will never buy from them again and would not recommend anyone else do so.

    • Also - Order#3479822 - happy to discuss with any OzBargain or GeekBuying Reps.

      • Did you hear back from customer service after we last spoke?

        • Only this as a response to a query I sent them via email whether it could be finalised this week.

          Dear customer,

          We asked the factory,
the factory said it might be repaired in this week.
So if there is any news we will keep you informed.
          Pls dont worry.

          Bella

Not sure what I should have expected from who.

Not exactly the outcome that I would have expected given the circumstances.

        • And given its Friday, I'm beginning to suspect this is just yet another false expectation.

Really hope I can be proven wrong.

        • Seriously - why couldn't the unit just have been replaced? I bought this brand new from Geek Buying, last October. It failed within 7 days of having it. Any sane company would have just replaced it. You have verified the fault within an hour of receiving it back on the 28th December.

The more I think about it, the more annoyed I get.

Nobody has taken the issue seriously,"Bella's" response this week is the same blame game that I've got all along, that its the factory's issue and absolutely zero commitment to getting an outcome.

          I'm so over it.

        • @stewmohr: I've told them that keeping the broken one being repaired and sending you a new one would be the best outcome as it was a DOA etc. I'll let you know once I hear back.

Also worth noting that GB staff work on weekends so I won't have to wait until next week to find out.

        • @Clear:

Thanks, I really do appreciate the assistance.

        • Just an update - as of Sunday night - I've heard nothing more.

          Disappointed to say the least.

        • Update - 1/3

          Dear customer,

          We understand your feeling.
We are still waiting for the factory to send the repaired item to us.
Once we get the repaired item we will send it to you asap.
Thanks for your patient waiting and sorry for all inconvenience.
          Have a nice day.

          My response.

          It really isn’t good enough.

          Its been two months.

          Who can I escalate to?

          Seriously, enough is enough.

Why do you not send a replacement item?

        • @Clear - seriously mate - what do I need to do to get this fixed?

I know you don't like me posting in your threads, but how else can I get it fixed.

This isn't going to go away. You would have to agree the level of service here is outrageous.

You just cant take peoples money and expect they'll be ok with faulty products and not get a remedy.

I've reached out to GeekBuying no less than 10-15 times? It doesn't seem your messaging has been effective.

The only solution I have is now social media.

        • @stewmohr: I've sent another message to customer service through marketing. Marketing gave me the suggestion of trying the Live Chat while we wait for CS to send a message.

        • @Clear:

You have to be kidding right?

        • @stewmohr:

What was the outcome of this finally? I saw a deal posted by GeekBuy today (powerbanks) and wanted to search for some feedback before placing an order..which got me to this post.

I would rather pay $10 more and buy it from a brick and mortar store here (MSY) where I can go back to and get it replaced if need be..than wait for 3+ months on a solution.
