Does the logitech app support application hotkey mapping, media controls and custom shortcuts? Does the Logitech version support Bluetooth so you can use it as a presentation remote with a Bluetooth enabled laptop where your computer is already connected to another wi-fi network (e.g work wi-fi) that your iPhone isn't allowed to join? I think you're comparing Apples with Oranges.
Well I agree with you, I think there are many features that are not available in the free app from logitec. I read the reviews for logitec, and they werent that encouraging. By the way its only 99c! Just think what can we buy for that price nowadays :p
