Was just in store and saw Destiny Taken King for $59 on PS4. Website shows that it is that price on all platforms.
Seems to be the best price that is readily available.
Remember all, Taken King is regular vanilla Destiny with DLC for all of the expansions. If you buy a used copy you are just buying vanilla Destiny.

It's not overly gorey or graphic. You can only play online though
I hated it when it was first released. Everyone levelled up and left me in the dust, and it just wasn't that enjoyable. Came back to it 2 weeks ago after getting Taken King for cheap, and with all of the improvements they have made over the last year I found it great!
Definitely a social experience though. It would likely be too hard for your son, and he might find it frustrating that he needs to (at least I have needed to) organise for friends to come online at the same time. You might also not want him playing with strangers.

with the DS sales, any games that are above 20$ seems pricey for me now…

I mean, looking at sales for American websites often our new games are cheaper (even if 1AUD=1USD) than theirs. Yet still…. More than $20 just seems too much sometimes ! :P
you can still find a copy or two in some Kmarts for $40….

Thats just the base version without the dlc right?
Destiny is a 5-10 year player commitment from the developer's "grand-plan" perspective, I recall reading somewhere
If anyone purchases this, it's worth noting that Bungie currently have a Refer-A-Friend promotion. Where during the first week of buying the Taken King, you put in another players unique code online and you both receive extra rewards once you complete certain parts of the game. If anyone on PS4 purchases it, let me know as I'd love to jump on this and help you through the harder content.
I will try to pick it up on the weekend for ps4, played on xb1 on release and stopped before the first dlc
