Hi all,
I want to buy a dash cam for a friend for Christmas but her cigarette lighter is totally broken. Is there anyway around this issue?
Could I use an external battery back to charge the dash cam for example?

The simplest solution is to fix that lighter, everything else is more complex.
Using a piggy back fuse socket & cigarette lighter socket you could attach the dashcam directly to the cars fuse box.
What does broken mean? Is it smashed into smitherines or just not working?

Could be just a fuse.
Otherwise, you can always wire the charger directly into the cars wiring, if you know what you're doing.
There's no way around it mate, you have to buy a new car.
define broken. Have you tested it with a multimeter?

Cigarette Ports are simple things. Theirs only 2 wires in the back; one is positive and the other is ground. Doubt the thing is actually broken. But who knows, as mentioned earlier, check the fuse. If it is indeed the socket either go to a car yard or supercheap sell them new. Their universal
