Coles Ballarat and Wendouree (Vic) Long stem roses $9.99!

350

$9.99 for a bunch of 10 roses at Coles Ballarat and Wendouree in Victoria.
This price just before valentines is a huge bargain in my book. They had plenty of stock and plenty of red ones.
Florists usually charge upwards of $100 at Valentines day per bunch.

This is part of Valentine's Day Sales for 2010.

  • Wonder if they are doing this australia wide?

  • I buy them quite regularly, the price is normally something around $13.95. Only a few $$$ cheaper than normal but way less than the florists. Quality is usually pretty good, just get the freshest bunch you can find.

  • i can tell you girls don't like guys who are cheap on Valentines day. coles roses wont go down too well i dont think. mostly they are half dead.

So no cheap roses with a marked down BBQ chicken then?! ;-)

WHAT A DEAL! SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE! :)

The problem is; I bought a far more expensive bunch from a florist. They were pre-ordered to guarentee availability. They were the WORST roses I have ever seen - in an attempt to make the roses look less dead, the outer most petals were removed. So many petals were removed that the rose buds were tiny and unopened.
I regret ever participating in Valentines day. Because of the increased demand, Florists make a HUGE profit and quality goes WAY down.
Back OT: Coles all the way. The only thing worse than cruddy roses are expensive cruddy roses.

  • These are usually imported and will die pretty soon compared to fresh florist flowers. Men, don't do it to your ladies you cheapo's.

  • Do it as a test of your lady's genuineness! then report here with your story. I'm listening…

  • Nothing wrong with them if the quality is okay. If your lady tells you you shouldn't have cheaped out call her an elitist pig. :) Girls like flowers. Period. I have bought tremendously expensive flowers and cheap flowers and the results are pretty similar.

I'm a delivery driver for Coles in the Ballarat area and picked them up at a flower farm in Ballarat. When I quizzed them about what stores they were going in they said it was just Ballarat and Wendouree.
The roses are grown at the farm so are not the elcheapo imported ones.

  • i'm going to buy my invisible gf coles roses, i bet she'll be happy with them :)

btw nice find, sick of ripoffs.

    • She doesn't like invisible roses?! Can't please some invisible GFs! ;-)

Shame there isn't a special day for marketers/society to pressure women to buy men the equivalent of flowers, perfume and jewellery ;-)

      • If only it worked the other way and you could give invisible roses to your real gf (minus the obvious consequences of course) ;)

  • Dont they have something like that in Japan?? Think they call it white day… its on march 14th when the girls are meant to give a little gift (usually chocolates) to the guys. If you gave her something on valentines day.. then its meant to be! (BTW i am using anime and manga as my reference):D

Think we should start that here…. or all move to japan!!!

  • Rappez i think u got it all mixed up. Valentine is when girl give the boy chocolate, and if the feeling is mutual, then the boy give presence to the girl 1 month later.

Anyway, it is a great deal. i think Coles can buy large order for either state wide/nation wide therefore they can sell it cheap. while local florist have to manage their stock carefully otherwise everything will go to the bin in 2 days and thus the 1000% mark up! As for the quality and source, i reckon it will be similar!
