VPN.sh - Black Friday - £3/Year Unlimited Bandwidth VPN

52

Received this in my inbox this morning. I have been using their VPN services for 6 months now without issue and there is plenty of servers to choose from.

We'll keep this short and snappy, as we know that this time of year can get very busy!

Black Friday is soon approaching, and we're giving our users early access to our special offer!

You can pick up an unlimited bandwidth VPN account for just £3/year over at our offer link.

As usual, if you have this package, then you'll get access to all of our current locations, as well as any new locations which we add (we're hoping to add Hong Kong, as well as further EU locations in the coming weeks).

This price is locked in, so you'll be able to keep the same price if you choose to renew.

If you already have an unlimited bandwidth VPN, feel free to continue to use that package.

Kind regards,
VPN.sh Team

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2015

  • So VPN for only 3 pounds? Am I missing something?

    • Nope, got mine for 1 quid a while back.

Worst customer support and AU servers ever. I just stopped using it after only 3 months of my 1 year contract.

  • +5

I wouldn't use this service even if they paid me

  • +4

I'm about to cancel with them, last time I tried to set it up I couldn't connect to the 3 different countries' servers.
The website is absolutely awful, it's not structured in any logical way. Even trying to find the 'how to set up vpn' is a pain.

  • +2

yep. i signed up when they were $1 a year. was absolute worst vpn by a far margin. i gave up after few days. now they have the audacity to tripple the price….

  • +2

I'll just remind everyone, as I did in previous deals: if you're going to cancel, make sure you get a refund. Otherwise they make a profit for something so bad you choose to cancel.

If anybody has any questions, please feel free to direct them at me, as I'll be here to answer :).

    • I am able to login to VPN but internet cuts off immediately.
      Any ideas?

      Thanks

    • i did my own troubleshooting. the Singapore server is broken. the router at 10.8.0.1 seemed to be missing a default route. but i could be wrong.

  • +2

Avoid them at all costs, numerous reviews pointing to terrible quality and support. My VPN account took a month and a half to be activated, and most servers didn't even work.

  • i signed up when it $1 a year. my first VPN service. Originally uptime was poor and server status page was hard to find (maybe non-existent). Plus there were changes going on with server addresses and the like.

However, i think they've improved with the changes. Server uptime is much better and more servers added and grouped by country. In the past, they had multiple servers for say Australia, if one was down, you would need to connect to another. But now I think it automatically redirects if one is down.

its bare bones service so its probably better for those who know what they're doing to rely on customer service as little as possible. I found the guides fine.

I only use for browsing and connecting to personal servers from work. I don't do much streaming but I tested 4K video stream from YouTube (using VPN.sh Australia server) and it was fine.

    This thing again…?

    • +2

Same 'deal' they always have, for the same shitty service.

  • canazei is right. This is a barebones service. The two servers that I use are Australia and the US and I have no problems getting connected. The speed is good too for streaming. However if you are thinking of downloading then this is not for you.
Customer service has improved a lot in recent weeeks.
It is a good option for those who know what they are doing and want a bare bones service at a cheap price.

Don't bother with Liam and his scamming offers.

As others have said, avoid like the plague.

Wouldn't bother even paying that much for this, it's absolutely terrible. The servers (Australian and west coast US ones I tried) are simply too slow to load anything beyond basic webpages. You won't be able to stream videos or download anything, and you'll experience interruptions with things like voice chat. Gaming behind their VPN is simply out of the question.

Put simply, you're paying ~$5AUD/year for what is basically just a web proxy as it's too slow to be used for anything else - as web proxies are usually accessible free of charge, there's no deal here.

When I contacted support about the issue I received a generic response stating they had fixed various problems with the servers, though there was still no change in ping times or speed - it was still terribly slow.
Oh btw, their reply was literally a few months later.

Not sure why no one is downvoting this deal, with how negative my experience was I'd say it's deserving of one.
Edit: just seen the post isn't by a rep, maybe that's why others aren't downvoting? Either way, the product is far from a deal even for €3/year - it's simply too laggish to be of use. Keeping my downvote so hopefully others see this then.

Edit2: gave it a shot as others mentioned they've picked their game up… Still isn't much difference. Average ping was ~250, maximum just under 1,000.. Compared to my internets constant 60 ping to that particular data center. At the best of times it was +5-10ms ping, though the majority of the time was well over +150 and spiking constantly.

    • Why are you trying to game behind thru a VPN?

Where is the gaming server located and which VPN.sh location are you connected to?

      • More included information in case anyone was intending to use it for gaming purposes. The pings were averages in ping changes between various different servers (to confirm they were accurate) then the statistics of one included in my comment.

Then from there you can assume one can not game on internet that unstable.. If for whatever reason they wished to. Usually they would as a way of anti-DDoS, or if they're participating in various activities against terms and conditions (ie third party software or "boosting" others accounts rank).

I grabbed a year freebie VPN from these guys last NYE and used it every now and then, just got the invoice for 1GBP recently for next year. Personally I haven't had any issue with the service, just tested a couple servers and are fast enough to load webpages and stream a youtube video without lag. It's a cheap price that, for me, fills my rare need of a VPN. Yeah, the website is a bit roundabout, but was able to figure out how to set it up even though Id never done it before. Just my situation and experience.

    • Same here. only used it for the occasional geo-block. I didn't use it long enough to know how bad it is. I'm thinking of renewing given the price of 1 GBP

  • purchased this deal and have ran a speedtest that was fairly disappointing although just browsing the internet hasn't been any slower than usual

  • Would be good when you have a Hong Kong server.

  • Hi LiamWithers

I am able to login to VPN but internet cuts off immediately.
    Any ideas?
