Pedestal Fan

Hey Guys,

Looking for a new pedestal fan and wondering the difference between the $12 pedestal fans vs ones around ~$50-60? Are the expensive ones quieter or anything?

Not the best advice, but buy a $12 and find out your self, if you don't like it, go for the expensive one. :)
I end up buying second $12 fans so I can't compare with the expensive one.
And get a one with remote, bit more than $12

    • I don't really understand the remotes. You need to be pretty close to the fan anyway, and it isn't like you are changing the settings every 5mins.

      • Depends on your use case. We have a fan in the bedroom, and it's much better turning on/off/adjusting the fan from bed than having to get up and do it.

  • If you don't like it you can return your $12 fan to most places that sell them.

Provided you can get it back in the box, that is…

  • mainly timer & Remote

  • I have Kmart $15 fan bought 5 years ago and Heller Fan ($49) bought 2 years ago from Bunnings. Both fans are going ok and not very noisy, but Heller seems better in terms of air speed and circulation.
Build quality of Heller is better and the plus feature of Heller fan is remote which is very handy while watching TV or during night.
Just go to Good Guys and feel the air and noise. Personally, I would spend $50 rather than $15 for long term use.

  • I've already got the $12 one in another room. It's alright just need one for my room and not sure if the $50-100 one's are any better. Not sure if the blades/bearings. As if the more expensive one has better airflow it means it has to be running faster and therefore noisier. (coming from a guy who's spent hundreds on PC fans).
