Thanks OP - can't believe RRP on the absolute is $899…

  • +1

With the inflated RRPs, this 'sale' is more like 5-10% if that.

Some prices are pretty decent actually. :) A couple are ~15% off.

  • +3

Its a good deal for the accessories. I got the hard floor accessory this morning for $41.

    • Thats what I'm after - I was going to get it through eBay/Masters for 20% the other day but someone told me that it would not fit my Animal as it was for the larger floor vacuums (not handheld). I thought the connections were the same for all Dyson - now I am confused

    • For which model? The V6/DC59?

  • +1

I thought the price for the fluffy isnt too bad? What was the previous best deal for it again?

  • +3

YES, time to go to David Jones, price match and use the gift cards from the Amex deal.

    • +3

David Jones had the V6 at this price last week($419.30) minus the $40 off $200 offer = $379.30. Mine just arrived today!

      • Sadly I missed that deal :(

        • I forgot to "add" $29.35 cashrewards…

As one ozbargainer said (which I've quoted for years)… "Dyson.. The Beats headphones of the vacuum cleaner world."

    • +8

Worst comparison ever, beats are cheaply made and sound cheap. At least dysons are well built and are amongst if not the best vacuum cleaners.

      • +2

As a long term Dyson owner, they are both great and lousy. The "no loss of suction" has been hype for a long time. However, you can do most of your own maintenance on these babies with a torx screwdriver. I had to clean out the sultanas I sucked up over the years. They clogged the root cyclone tubes and blocked them.

With mine, I sucked up brick dust and all sorts of naughties. It's been going strong for over 10 years… but, I really needed to keep the filters cleaned! I'd hazard a guess that I maintained it every 6 months.

I also wouldn't call these the Beats of the vacuum world.

I personally really like the wet and dry vacs… They used to be cheap, reliable, easy to maintain and very effective.

        • Bro, since you are quite knowledgeable with these little suckers what is the usual cost to fix a handheld DC34 or you can DIY?

Mine just stop working after 26 months!

        • @Speedz: Buy a Miele.

      • +2

At least dysons are well built and are amongst if not the best vacuum cleaners.

Ours is still going strong after about 12 years of daily use…

You find the time to vacuum daily with 32000+ ozbargain comments?

        • +1

          @kevsta89:

          I multi-task…

      • Choice just reviewed a heap of vacuum cleaners and Dyson didn't have a product in the top 10. Their best was about 15th. Their other products filled out the bottom half of the list down to the dc47 Multi Floor being 3rd worst out of 34.

        • Choice just reviewed…

          What was best handheld?

        • @AlexF: from memory they weren't reviewing handheld ones, not that I recognised anyway

      • Actually "Dyson.. The Bose QC25 headphones of the vacuum cleaner universe."

  • Anyone knows if the following will work: Buy full priced on David Jones online using gift cards from Amex and via Qantas mall to obtain 10 pts per $, and then price match the difference back to gift card? Will I still get the full bonus points from Qantas mall or if using Cashrewards?

    • Should work based on experience, except that Cashrewards states no cashback rewarded for giftcard purchase @ DJ online (not sure if it works in reality), so maybe, Qantas mall could be a better deal if no such restriction exists?

      • Thanks, may try this out then :) Can always return if doesn't work and wait for the next offer…

        • one issue.. If this is only a one day sale, you might not have the time to get the (physical) gift cards delivered to you in time to take advantage of the price match. You can try the e-gift card, but from my own experience a few days ago along with ozbargainers' comments, it appears that ordering e-gift cards from DJ online might not always work, but give it a try anyway.

        • @feihong:

That's fine.. I'm still waiting for my physical DJ gift card to arrive.. If this is a one day offer only, then next time I guess. Happy to wait :)

  • And of course they're missing the v6 animal, the one I actually want :(

  • Those who have an Amex, don't forget you could possibly get another $30 off ( spend $150, get $30 off, in store only though).

  • +1

If you download the Amex app, you will find a $30 offer for cashback at Myer in-store.

    • Where is this offer? Any direct link?

      • No direct link. Need to download the Amex app and login through there.

  • bugger cant use qantas online mall on this. any idea how long the sale will last for?

    • Checked the site again this morning, from this link it looks as though it ends midnight tonight.

  • Thanks op. I've been on a lookout for a Dyson Absolute. Best deal I've seen since the last week or two.
I wonder if there's a better deal with ClickFrenzy starting tomorrow night?

  • Thanks just picked up the tower fan for $454….cheaper than anywhere else by a good margin!

Should go nicely alongside my $12 Kmart beast :)

  • Those who own entertainment books…. Go to David Jones, price match, pay with eGift cards (10 percent off)… Snagged 3 V6 units at an average of $378ea.

EGift cards are sent pretty much immediately.

Only minor issue is you won't get exactly the right purchase price due to denominations, but pretty close.

  • great deal! bought a v6 animal for my parents! christmas shopping done!

  • So.. If I buy the Dyson V6 from David Jones for $599 + $1 item, - $600 total

Go through Qantas Mall to get 10 pts per dollar, 6000 points.

Use 3x $200 gift card that costed $480 from Amex deal to pay, and get back $120 gift cards.

Then ring David Jones to claim a price match on Myer's current 30% off at a price of $419.30.. refund back difference to a gift card

If I keep $120 gift cards and 6000 points haul, probably would be hell of a deal on the Dyson V6? (Or even if they decide to decrease the gift cards to $80 amount)

Anyone knows if this will work??

    And then maybe claim TRS….

    • Uh, you're going to bring a vacuum cleaner with you overseas?

you wear or carry the goods (unless they are liquids, gels or aerosols or oversized or bulky goods which the airline require to be checked in) as hand luggage aboard the aircraft or ship as you leave Australia, or check the goods in with your luggage after they have been verified by an officer at a Client Services counter.

      • +1

I've seen people claiming a 70" TV at the airport =)

        • +1

Dedication (although not in spirit of the TRS).
Do you have to still take it with you on the plane then?

        • @tanoshiiki: No problem for oversized items. I've claimed on golf clubs before and have them checked-in.

          FROM TRS WEBSITE:

What if my goods are liquids, aerosols or gels, or oversized?

There are limits to the amount of liquids, aerosols or gels that you can take into the cabin on flights to and from Australia. To find out more about this, see Department of Infrastructure and Transport's website.

If you want to make a TRS claim for liquids, aerosols or gels that you are not able to take on board because of these limits, take your goods to the Client Services counter before they are packed in your checked luggage and checked in with the airline.

This also applies to oversized items, like skis, snowboards and golf clubs and other goods that you will check in.

To find the location of the Client Services counter, check the website of the airport where you will depart from Australia.

  • Just went to a David Jones store and asked for a price match, they said they are more than happy to do a price match, but cannot do giftcard as a form of payment. As terms and condition from the competitor must be the same. i.e. Myer don't take DJ giftcard, so they won't take it from a price match.
