Nutri Ninja IQ BL480 $159 (RRP $249) @ Dick Smith & DSE eBay

900
CLEAR30

Long time lurker of ozb, normally go to post a deal that's already here! I think this is a great deal on the iq, normally $249 and I'm pretty sure it's the 1000 watt version too. I was impatient and got the nutri pro a few weeks back for 150, would have definitely got this with the extra power and cup too!

Edit- also available from dick smith ebay store.

Perfect for them $50/$100 vouchers with possible click and collect! Brings it down to a possible $89 or ~$100 with delivery.

19/11: Available for $159 (further $30 off) with CLEAR 30 voucher - thanks parthiv777/jacro

    Good price OP

Hi OP where was this ad. Can you do a bigger shot to inc the store name. I want to use to it to price match at myer

  • +2

Really good blender. Sometimes had for cheaper on eBay Deals but this is decent.

    • +2

      +1

Love my BL480NZ, especially with the IQ function…don't have to hold the cup in place or stop and shake it etc.

    • How long have you had it for and how often do you use it?

      • +2

I've had one of these for almost 6 months (bought it in the $150 Bing Lee deal), it gets used twice a day 5 days a week and hasn't skipped a beat so far.

        • Great news, may look into it.

  • +1

Checked the DS site normal price, would also like to see the full ad!

  • I used it for while, really love it.

    • you dont anymore?

  • Myer online price is $199. Would be good to get full ad to get them to drop it further.

    • Got one myself a few weeks back at $199. Added $25 for extra 2 years warranty. This is Myer Parra.

      • Really, anyone still paying for extra warranty?

I would just stick with the ACL. One should reasonably be able to assume that a $199 (or $249 RRP) blender is designed to last a few years.

        • You are talking about quality blender, such as Optimum, Vitamix or high end blenders. Those would last forever.

With this? I would be lucky if it working pass one year. I'm using this 2-3 times a day!

  • I have some dicksmith gift cards from Coles for extra 10% value will make this deal even better. Let me know if you are interested.

  • Good deal on a good blender.

How do these compare to a NurtiBullet?

    • +5

FWIW I read multiple reviews where the ninja came out on top. The addition of it being able to blend ice was more than enough for me to make a decision also. I've not had hands on experience with the bullet but the ninja is really sturdy and the quality feels really good. The pro blends anything I put in so overall I'm very happy.

      • +1

        Cool, thanks for the feedback.

    • +1

This is superior to nutribullet. I read reviews that compared them. I bought ninja and it is awesome. Even my 6 yr old son uses it. Very powerful

  • +4

Even if it's a good product (and I've no idea if it is), I just can't take it seriously after the ads. It's disgusting when a company tries to pretend that using a machine adds nutritional value to food. Of course it doesn't. It just rips it up into a liquid.

They must have done their market research before concluding that there were enough people who would be fooled. Then decided they are comfortable taking advantage of those people.

Tried finding a youtube link but can't at work. It was an American ad that they aired in Australia for the ninja bullet.

    • +2

People are overly gullible. They knew it would sell the product and it did. From the website:

      "Extract Hidden Nutrients.

The Nutri-Ninja® releases the highest amount of goodness from your fruits and vegetables, increasing your daily intake of nutrients and minerals."

It's complete rubbish but it sells. It's the same reason people buy Homeopathy. Somehow people bought into the idea that diluting an ingredient makes it more powerful.

      • +1

Just so you know, it's nothing new. As we chew food, we are breaking down the food to a point where we're extracting its' nutrients ,more so compared to swallowing it whole but who swallows food whole anyway?. So science wise they aren't wrong but it's nothing new, it's just not a lot of people know about how we're gaining the most nutrients from food by chewing it.

        • ^^^^^This is very true.^^^^^^

    • -2

As ridiculous and nonfactual as the advertisements are, they clearly work; if not, QVC would not have their own channel on American TV (let alone being broadcast to over 200 million homes around the world)…

  • +3

Got one in an eBay group deal a while back. Really solid blender, and I still use it for smoothies all the time. Really noisy though, so if you plan on doing an early morning breakfast smoothie, be prepared to wake up the whole house and possibly the neighbors. Pro tip: these blenders are great for whipping cream in under ten seconds.

  • +1

Hoping that Dick puts it on sale on eBay so we can use those eBay vouchers!

  • +2

I don't blend anything. I rather eat it whole. I'm pretty sure you do eat more blending than just the fruit/vegie itself. Then people wonder why they are not losing weight.

Happy to be taught otherwise :)

    • +2

Especially with fruit, so much more sugar than chewing on it. I can add a shed-load into a blend, no way I'd eat that much for breaky if I had to chew it.

    • +2

I normally use mostly veggies with a bit of fruit for taste. Fruit smoothies are definately not a good way to lose weight as you know it's purely sugar with no fibre to fill you! But with veggies and oats it definately fills you more and you get alot more goodness imo without the sugar intake.

Bought "NutriBullet Juicer Extractor Vegetable Mixer Blender Gold 900W 15P" from ebay for $115. I love it. Not sure why should someone spend more on this Nutri-Ninja.

When you see a post starting like: Hey guys, first post so please go easy on me!

something's definitely wrong with the community. I say its a wake up call..

    • +1

How do you mean? I meant more in reference to the layout of the deal! :)

Edit - sorry I misunderstood! I have seen exactly that, people getting annoyed by the layout or the deal itself! It's hard to get it spot on at first but hopefully it's the first of many more decent deals :)

      • I can only recommend you look at previous popular posts to figure out the layout. The gist is easy to grasp; you've done fine so well done.

    • I think that assertion is off. A lot of first-post users' write this, and I'm yet to see anyone in the comments abuse someone for it. It even mentions it in the rules to not post it:

For first time posters, it's best to avoid telling the community that you are new and asking them to take it easy on you. The “L-plate icon” will be shown to indicate if this is your first post.

I think people are just nervous about messing up; the worst they can do is not include the price in the title or just simply not post a bargain at all.

Interested in your thoughts if you still believe a wake-up call is needed.

      • +1

I think you answered yourself there when you said.. "people are just nervous about messing up"… may I ask what's making them nervous?

All new deal posters are actually old ozbargain lurkers those read comments and have seen the tormenting behaviour of some when something is not correctly posted or missed.. We tend to behave on what we observe.

If new posters are nervous, its not because they are posting something on the Inetrnet for the first time.. its because they have seen something in particular with the response on the deals here at ozbargain.. especially with the first time posters..

Maybe our patience is too low.. watever it is.. if we want more people to post deals (good or bad will be decided by the '+' and '-'), we need to be more supportive of each other here.

Just want the community here to be more sporty and respectful to each other.. Cheers!

Good post, but would recommend Breville Blender, check the link below. Also it currently on sale!!. It score top in choice magazine last year, and I have been using it for 2 years. Superb

Ps - My First Comment, wonderful community

    • +3

Are you a subscriber to Choice? I notice they had assessed the Nutri-ninja but you need to be a subscriber to see the results. I guess you're saying above that the Breville came out on top of the Nurti-ninja according to Choice? Could you share any more details on that? ;)

      • +2

        I'm with him

Any chance your Second Comment could shed some light on the Choice review? :)

That Breville is 2000W though, so it should be far superior. I have a 500w Ninja Master and while I love it to bits for food prep, it falls short in drink preps leaving chunkier bits than you really want. The 2000w should (in theory) chop that right down.

        EDIT: My bad, it's 1200W not 2000W.

      • +4

        Hi

Nope, I am not a subscriber.. I just go to the Brisbane State Library in the city to look through all the older edition. A tip for all those living in Brisbane city……

Breville seems to have a frequent appearance in the top 5 or 10. That model came up top 2 I believe.. Kinetick Breville came up top.

        http://www.myer.com.au/shop/mystore/kinetix-blender-bbl605-9…

        Hope this info help

    • Thanks for the tip. Pity the jug is plastic, such an awesome blender.

      • +1

It actually those plastic used for plane window… So comparing to the glass blender, the one I bought is surprisingly light and easy to clean

  • +1

How does this compare to a Vitamix? I mean, is it worth getting something like this or putting the money towards a proper high end machine?

    • +2

Vitamix are the best (IMO), but the Nutri Ninja, Pro, etc, are a heck of a good machine, for a MUCH cheaper price!
Depends if you want to pay $850-$2,000, or $150-$250.

    • +2

The question might also be to compare the Breville Kinetix to the Nutri Ninja. It's a little more powerful, you don't get the convenient cup setup like the Nutri Ninja, but nor do you on the Vitamix I think.

SO I'd be comparing those first. Both around the $200 mark, a far cry from the price on the Vitamix.

      Food for thought perhaps.

    • +1

A very late reply (maybe too late) but I found an interesting youtube review comparing these exact blenders - well the Ninja seems to be a 1300w version but otherwise much the same. You might be interested to see - in short it kinda makes the Ninja look like crap, not just in blending ability but lots of design shortcuts, enough so that I'm not going to buy one.

FWIW I've contacted Vitamix about the possibility of shipping out certified reconditioned blenders for $259 USD

  • +3

It might be expensive but the Sunbeam Café Series blender is a really good alternative to this and probably a bit more versatile. This is a link to the newer models (I have the older one with just the dial) but it will blitz anything to death, even ice (although in a plasic jug it is LOUD). $209 at Billy Guyatts but also has a $30 cash back from Sunbeam. Could price beat at another store I'm sure.

    http://www.billyguyatts.com.au/sunbeam-multiblender-pb5400.h…

EDIT: A lot of review sites have people bagging this machine out because some part becomes faulty and they don't know how to fix it so they just throw their hands up in the air and give up. I used this thing nearly every day for 3 years and never had a problem until the blade bit started rusting (because I wasn't cleaning it properly) got it replaced for about $80 and since then never had a problem now I know how to look after the machine properly. Had it 6 years now.

  • Great machine, far better than the nutribullet.

  • +2
    • Thanks for that. Went and got a price match at myer and used their gift card.

  • Anyone knows the tv ad sell $294 and it is buy one get one free.
This already inc shipping as well

  • +1

Looks like the discounted price went through to eBay as well: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Nutri-Ninja-with-IQ-/252109737779…

Perfect for those who have the $50 or $100 eBay voucher for a further discount + cash rewards!

    • Nice, I'll add it to the op! Can you get c&c with this?

      • You can if your local store has the stock. Some people reporting on the Good Guys post that C&C is no longer an option. I paid the shipping for my order.

  • +2

Got it for $159 C&C after using code CLEAR30.

    • Jeez.. used my $100 eBay voucher to buy it from their eBay but feel shortchanged now. :(

      • don't be, do you want to spend $89 or $159?

        • Good point, could've used the $100 elsewhere though. All good!

  • BAH. Just got this from TGG for $188.

    — Might call them up and ask for 120% of the discounted price.

  • +3

I'm probably a bit late with this post and I've made the same post a few times before - but the long and the short of it is, these are generally fairly gimmicky blenders.

I went down the green smoothie route for health nearly 3 or 4 years ago now and after a year I spent months (because I'm a nerd) researching and got the Omniblend. I don't mean to shill for them - but the damn thing is basically a re-badged, $800 Vitamix for about $300. The thing is STUPID powerful with big, bastard blades that smash anything. I can put in frozen bananas, or frozen beetroot, frozen spinach, whole almonds, massive chunks of ginger, entire brussel sprouts etc - it decimates whatever is inside it.

These nutibullet things are currently cool because they are on TV and everyone wants one. Do you want one because they are cool or do you want to genuinely get healthier with smoothies?
(For a start, you'll find you actually don't want as much fruit in your smoothie as you thought, it's surprisingly high on sugar, mine are mostly veggies with a whole small lemon to add 'zest' to the smoothie, yes with the rind on)

Omniblend goons have increased the price 33% since I got mine, but that may be the AUD (I got some ridiculous good deal for like $210 shipped)
Go on youtube, look up some videos and while you're at it, watch at least 10 different green smoothie videos, start looking at kale, spinach, ginger, goji berries, chia seeds, almonds, blueberries etc - this mango, banana thing - if you do a calorie and sugar count,.. you'll be shocked.

    • Sigh

They're only advertised as being a health blender because 'health' sells.

I personally want to make awesome iced drinks with it - Iced Coffees, Milk Shakes, Iced Juices, etc.

      • +1

I would assume a standard run of the mill $30 to $80 blender would do this fine. :/

        • Yes, you're right - I just went in with the crowd as I didn't mind spending that much for one.

Not sure how the others fair with blending ice, though.

        • @rorymeister: There's definitely a portion of customers who buy these thinking "now I can be slim" because of how they are marketed.

It's good people are trying to get healthy, it's just they need more than just a blender to do so.

I'm not gonna neg it because at least it seems reasonably discounted and if people want it, they want it. I just get the impression nutribullet stuff is gimmicky (also, the nutri ninja regular blender they make in the states, blows - it has BLADES - not really a blender, very sharp - but cuts very different to a blender and bad for smoothies with hard items in it)

    • +2

I dont quite get the point of your post… so what are you suggesting?

      • +1

I'm suggesting that this is quite overpriced and gimmicky if you really want to get into blending.

The one which I recommended is significantly more expensive, but uses blades which have been around for a decade, replacements can be purchased, etc. It'll grind up nuts into butter.

That being said, if you don't wanna go hardcore, a $30->$80 blender will likely do anything this claims to do at the fraction of the price.

        • I don't doubt that your Omniblend is a beast, but if you've seen any reviews for the IQ you would know that this a powerful machine more than capable of blending all the ingredients you have mentioned into a smoothie.

        • So you're saying this product is over-priced; yet you're recommending another product that is even more expensive, to simply blend a smoothie?

        • +1

          @drose01: Vastly more powerful.
          Easier to use / clean
"Standard" parts compatible with Omniblend / JTC / Vitamix
          Likely to last longer
          Can blend more.

Also, I'm recommending 'any old blender' if you need a basic one - these specific nutribullet upside down jobbies are generally cheap / gimmicky.

        • @hamwhisperer:

Sounds like you have never actually used these smaller 'high power' blenders before. I own both the Omniblend V at home and Nutri Ninja at work. They both serve a purpose, and both do it well.

This is a powerful small blender. Just because you love your kale smoothie making Ombniblend doesn't mean these are gimmicky.

    • +4

This ^ is exactly why people need to ask to go easy on them

    • +2

I didn't realise two short sentences would really take that long to read, I just wanted to be respectful to the community incase anything wasn't how it should be. Also FYI I had no idea about the L plates either.

Luckily it only seems to be the minority who are either negative or far too critical of people trying to contribute!

  • +3

I'm getting "The redemption code can't be used for your purchase" using CLEAR30. Any way to get around this?

EDIT: Never mind I was trying in eBay, but works just fine in the DSE site. Thanks OP.

    • +1

The clear30 code is to be used from the DSE website…. not the ebay website. I ordered mine through DSE and went through just fine at $159.

      • Got it too! Thanks!

  • I am wondering if it is possible to get spare cups/blades for this machine. If so where? I would like to set aside one for doing smoothies and another one for doing stuff like chilli/spices etc…

  • are the bottles made of glass or plastic? Could someone comment please?
    Many thanks.

    • +1

      Plastic. Dishwasher safe

      • Thanks rorymeister. Is there a glass version available too? The jar and bottles.

  • Thanks OP, glad i waited, Hope i make best use of it, Would i get any recipe books with the order ?

  • +1

Cheers OP, cancelled order at TGG and reordered.

    awesome

    • Mines awaiting pick up. Can I still cancel? Can't find where to do it online.

      EDIT

Called up and cancelled and rebought.

      Thanks OP!

  • Bought this one, I am going to return my Nutribullet RX back to DJ as that one comes with huge containers that doesn't serve my purpose of making healthy shakes.

  • +1

Great product great price - go get healthy! :-)

  • +1

Hi Rory, yes can still cancel call the store you choose for pickup.

I called and got mine cancelled

  • Can only see it at northland for pick up? Any other store guys?

  • Looks like a good deal so I just purchased one and paid for it via Paypal.

Got an email from Paypal confirming payment had gone through.

Does anyone know how long it takes the payment confirmation to come through from Dick Smith?

If it come through today I can go pick it up after work.

    • The payment normally go through quickly. However, as previous experiences with click and collect at Dicksmith, I did wait for few days before they sent email that it's ready for pick up.

Edit: Not this time thou, just got email ready for pick up after 25 mins order.

    • I usually just give a call an hr or two after order and say I'm in the area, I'd highly prefer if I can pickup today.

    • UPDATE: Got a confirmation 33 minutes after my order.

  • +1

Great! My Aldi blender has just died, and did a horrible job of blending anyway. We have one of these at work and it is pretty good.

  • +1

Just picked it up for $159.00 using the CLEAR30 code, click to collect!

  • WTF. Order never went through.

    Unable to initialise express checkout

EDIT: It was because of an invalid phone number. Odd.

  • Will this price get any better after Christmas?
