Hyrule Warriors (Wii U) $30 ($27 with Family & Friends Discount, 14-15 Nov) @ Big W

160

The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Warriors is on special at my local Big W, Carindale (QLD) for $30.

I am not sure if this is store specific but I have uploaded a receipt of my purchase and if anyone would like to try their luck at another Big W store and possibly get it price matched.

I scanned the game out of pure luck to see if there were any other games on clearance from the previous OzBargaindeal and in conjunction with this weekends Family and Friends deal at Big W I figured this deal needed a separate post of it's own.

P.S. Carindale still had about 6-8 copies left when I purchased mine at 9am this morning.

UPDATE: I went back into carindale today and took a pic of the game being scanned to show that the game is in fact $30. Link, I hope this helps anyone still trying to convince or price match at other stores

  • Bargain!

  • Just spent my $50 eBay voucher to buy one for $65 delivered :(

  • Thanks for posting.

Can anyone confirm if its available at other stores for this price?

  • Still $65 in beenleigh :(

  • Just price match at eb

Very few stores will have this price, going by previous thread. Great price, just don't expect it to be available without price matching.

Thanks to the OP for the receipt though!

Also thanks for mentioning which state you're in! It's so often overlooked, and it's sometimes important.

$64 at mine. Showed them the receipt and they ended up calling Carindale and matching it. Thanks!

  • Does the game require a firmware upgrade to play it? I'm still on an old firmware.

    • what does that mean?
      no internet to update?

      • He doesn't want to update the console firmware but wants to play the game without any firmware update.

        • The last game I bought was Bayo 1+2 earlier this year. Did not require a firmware update to play it. This game is a bit newer, just wondering if I'll need one as well.

My Wii mode is soft modded. A firmware update might brick the console, or at least disable the homebrew.

Nintendo is sneaky with these things. Sony just says, there's an update available, you should get it. But leaves it up to you to get it, or be unable to access the PSN store.

Wii U just automatically downloads the update and installs it, without asking.

  • Tried showing the receipt in Strathpine QLD stores:

Big W - Apparently the deal is limited to the Top 10 Big W stores in Australia, wouldnt do it for me
JB Hifi - Guy in games section said yes, counter staff and manager said definitely not
EB Games - Definitely not, below their cost price

    Sigh….

Anyone had any luck at Chermside or North Lakes stores?

Did you ask the bigw store manager who refused to price match why your store is not in the top 10 store? Is it because of your dodgy price match policy?

      • Haha :D He wouldn't even tell me which stores are even the Top 10 stores anyway.

Though I don't understand why JB or EB refused as well, considering others here are having success.

  • scanned at $64 for me.

    • At Carindale or just another Big W?

      • Another.

Not going to price match with receipt. It always makes them uncomfortable.

I'll wait for a promotion. Otherwise, a dynasty warriors game doesn't really appeal to me anyway.

  • There was still a copy left at Warringah Mall this morning when I popped in and it was tagged at $30 (I've already got it, so wasn't going to grab another one).

That was the only Wii U clearance game left, but there were lots of Xbone and PS4 clearance games left. Titanfall for $5, Watchdogs and Wolfenstein Old Blood for $10, Evolve for $20 and Project Cars, Batman Arkham Knight and Elder Scrolls Online for $30.

    • Went to my local bigw store tried to price match the receipt posted here. The store manager came up "that store made an error on pricing". LOL I think it is up to the store descretion to do whatever they want with clearance pricing not an error.

      • I would have asked the store manager to call Carindale.

        • I did tell them to call that store but as he refusef and just said that store made a mistake but they won't.

    • Can you please post the receipt so the next manager at the store wouldn't say its a price error again lol, cant be two errors:)

  • I price matched target just today and then used the 10% off discount on top. Great!

    • 10% off target?

Update: Added a pic of the game scanning at $30 just now in the description. I hope this helps anyone still trying to get a copy. Also this seems to be the last copy at carindale.

    • That's very nice of you.

Thank you for the receipt, i went to big w in liverpool and they didn't want to match it, they told me that the game clearance is only in 10 biggest stores. The best they could do was $58 so i went to target, they saw the receipt and absolutely not a single question asked the guy said ok and sold it for $30. It all comes down to the person, nothing else but that, no one checks this stuff or cares at all people, no one, its millions of dollars profit a day, they sell things for 5 to 10 times more then what they're paying for.

P.S. people dont take your job too seriously, you work for a living not other way around.

      • Yeah it sucks that big w stores don't want to match their own other store prices but Target happy to do it.

    • Hyrule Warriors scanned for $30 on Friday 13/11/15 but scanned $64 on Sunday 15/11/15. I showed this receipt to staff at Burleigh Big W and they price matched for $30. Didn't push my luck for 10% off :)
