Just found that a house on my neighborhood had a 80yr old Oak tree chopped off. It had a heritage overlay. I know this because I intended to buy that property and asked the council about it and they said you cannot cut it as it has an heritage overlay. Now it has been chopped off.
This is something bizzare. I need to complain about it.
Besides council, which other people/organisations should I get in touch to make this known.
Tree Removed at the back of a house in my neighbourhood. Had Heritage overlay. Whom to complain?

The comments on this thread are a joke, and a clear display of how the general public are narrow minded and completely materialistic. There are laws in this country for a reason, not just to piss people off.
The reason OP is copping flack is that the public hate an investor, and especially one that complains when he doesn't get his way. Forget about the fact that investors drive the economy that everyone relies on for jobs and a standard of living.
Regarding the facts of this case, sure the tree could have turned out like many have said to be sick despite initial inspections. It's equally if not more likely that there was some corrupt conduct by someone on the way. This could be a genuine corruption issue and if everyone stood by and let it happen, it would become endemic. Examples of corruption could include dodgy people at the council allowing mates to get away with things, taking under the table money, or possibly even someone at the council providing a bus steer so their mate could buy it.
The only thing this guys needs to decide is if he can be bothered fighting for something that will provide him no material gain, if you ask me he's doing us all a favour if he does.
oh well…..
Well said. Can't believe so many ozb "smart" persons could not see op's intention and kept criticizing him. Phew…
Really? Real estate investors who are creating an over-bloated financial bubble and driving up the cost of housing are doing me a favour?
If they are building new properties then yes, they are doing workers in the contruction industry a favour and then they are spending money in the general economy
We should cut down more trees then.
@gtrdude: No we should rezone to allow more high density housing and support this with better services
@Jackson I think it's more a case of people recognizing OP just has soar grapes over not finding a way to remove the tree himself where another person has, irrespective if OP or the person who removed the tree is an investor.
I know that's what people are complaining about, but that's fair enough if the Op did everything legally possible and Th en someone else came along and did something illegal, or someone did something illegal for him, then he has a right to be spewing
council said you cannot cut the tree, I did not buy.
I need to complain about itI see the "need", it could do with immersing it in cold water very slowly and contacting council, if they had approval for trimming then dropping some ice cubes in, would help too.
There were deals on here as for that sort of envious Investment;Investment Red Bucket
Investment Stainless Steel Side by Side Fridge could also do for cold water
Investment Ice cube Stones
Investment Stainless Steel Cubes
Investment Ice Cube TrayBest of Luck
A council worker once said to me " these trees here (pointing to a native tree) have more rights than you and me…"
He was probably actually pointing to a pine tree…
He was pointing to an Eucalyptus Globus
Just beyond dem pines….
I bet when the neighbors' went outside and use to look at that Oak tree they all use to say "How about that amenity?"
By the way lots of people don't listen to any laws about anything heritage or property. Like the people that move into apartment complexes that have by-laws about not installing things on the outside of the building (like reverse cycle air-con units) but the first thing people do when they buy is install one within the week, people complain and then they just throw their hands in the air and are all "I didn't knnnooww" and then everyone is "oh well it is there now, just leave it".
Cool story eh?
For heaven sake you should have come and knocked my door to tell me you have a valid reason. I was ready to listen and could have shared my issues with the tree roots going into my toilet
…. hell you made the whole of Australia know about my heritage tree.
Well, now you have a famous neighbour!
And people say Aussies are complain kings…complain this complain that, complain about NBN, complain about the banks making too much profit, complain about our shitty government, complain about our dollar, complain about Americans having a stupid accent, complain about Woolies and Coles charging us too much money, complain about the tree being cut down that is not on your property….geez….
Mate, you gotta think about the amenity… THE AMENITY!
