Is it a good tv?
"Model #: MUD……"
I wonder if this describes the clarity ?
Noticed roughly earlier this week it was selling for about $457~, did not get screen shot but I was also looking at buying it but now the price has risen
41.5" UHD - ideal viewing distance is about one metre, so this might make a good desktop display, for a big desk.
If your desk faces a wall, you could wall-mount it.
And computer displays benefit more than movies from UHD.This is pointless for a lounge room. Better to get a bigger 1080p display.
not true, not everyone wants a large tv, we have a 42inch in the lounge, suits us perfectly.
doesn't matter whether the pixel density is good for 1 meter etc.Yeah because they really would design a tv you have to sit 1m away from. Some people
I'm not saying it's too small for a lounge. Just to small to notice the difference between hd and uhd at normal viewing distance.
yep, realised that too thats why I mentioned pixel density.
sounds like its not a great tv anyway.
Not a bargain, regularly discounted to $459.49.
Link please
This is $449. That's lower than $459.49?
Negative was posted before the deal went live at the even cheaper price. It really should be revoked.
what is Dled?
Dick Light Emitting Diode lol
It excludes the most popular light frequencies…
D-LED = LED backlight module is placed behind the diffuser.
E-LED = LED backlight module is placed at the side of the panel.Link here: http://www.haier.com/in/LocalLibrary/faq/tv/led/question/201…
IMHO D-LED is a superior form of backlighting as compared to E-LED.
better known as backlit vs edgelit
D for Direct lit
E for Edge lit
Had a look at one of these in store today.
- Screen uniformity is poor
- Colours are mediocre
- Sound is tinny
It's cheap for a reason.
I also had a look at in store today and I could barley test the screen and sound out there beacause they had these crappy non-HD ads playing and it was plugged into a LG sound bar….
You're better off buying a 1-2 year old second hand TV.
Doubt it…
Find a 50"+ 1-2 year old TV which is actually a decent brand for $300 and it will be far better than the dick smith brand option.
So explain again why you doubt it jv.
Many moons ago when dickie was selling components. there was 3 grades….
1 Military.
2 Commerical.
3 Dick Smith.
Interesting how things never change……is there still shops that sell components?
My 39.5 inch dick smiths TV has really impressed me! Wish I bought two for the price I paid.
I probably wouldn't use it as a main TV though, as a second TV it us acceptable.
This a 1x HDMI2.0 input port. Wonder if it does 4K @60Hz? Might make a good/cheap 4K PC monitor.
It may do.
Certainly won't be Chroma 4:4:4 which is the final hurdle in a 4K/UHD Display, but for $450 most would be willing to sacrifice that.
plenty of hurdles for 4k displays
- True 4k res (not the 38xx horizontal res)
- HDR compatibility via HDMI 2.0
- DP 1.2 or higher
- Chroma 4:4:4
- true 120hz or better
Yeah, highly unlikely to support chroma 4:4:4 making it useless as a PC monitor.
I got the Onix 42" UHD TV from Target for $349 a couple of weeks ago
I guess in this case the dick missed the target
how is it?
