  • can i have a replacement armrest

  • To the Milan Direct rep, where are these chairs manufactured?

    Why have you changed username?
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/21253

Also, extended warranty options are priced differently on your site compared to your eBay items:

    • Milan Direct probably changed username because they were banned/suspended on here a few months ago for sockpuppeting — I'm assuming that ban has now been lifted and the company has the blessing of the mods to post again. :)

  • and they never did adress the "ergonomic" issue with their chairs

    When you say “ergonomic”

do you mean compliant with AS/NZS 4438 and does it meet the Australian Furniture
Research and Development Institute (AFRDI) Standards?

    Hi all,

Thanks for your comments and questions. If you are a current customer and require a replacement arm, please send an email to '[email protected]' and that will be promptly arranged for you. To address some of the questions. Our office chairs are manufactured in China (as almost every office chair that you buy in Australia is) with the highest quality components sourced globally. To learn more about what we mean by 'ergonomics' we suggest that you sign up to our newsletter, as our next newsletter covers this topic in detail! You can do so at the following link: http://www.milandirect.com.au/subscribers/add/

    • Well, that couldn't possibly be a more devious an attempt to answer a simple question.

  • sigh lol ;P

and not I will not be signing up

Its not what you mean by "ergonomics" that I am asking about

Its whether the product meets a specified Australian Standard or not

  • Well I did buy one of these as I really need a new chair. I kind of wish I had waited for some more comments to come through though. Especially the reply from the rep - that really is poor form, you should be in politics not sales.

Anyway, I got this one http://www.milandirect.com.au/shop/office-chair-aeron-inspir…
and it says it "Meets AS/NZ 4438 Standards of Compliance".

So when it arrives, should there be a label on it to confirm this or something?

    • Got the chair now. No standards stickers or anything, just as it comes straight from the factory in China, with considerable self assembly required.

While it is comfortable, and has excellent adjustability range, it feels very cheaply made. ie. extensive use of plastic, and the arms flap around horizontally with about 5mm play in their adjust mechanism. If only it was built as well as my last OfficeWorks chair (which was a similar price). It has the same adjustments, but just lacks the range of each adjustment compared to this new one. That old chair has lasted me 2.5 years and is still holding together better than this one seems straight out of the box.

I reckon it would be good value if it was $100 cheaper. But as it stands, I'm afraid this isn't a bargain at all, definitely more towards the rip-off end of the scale.

I'd neg it if I had the rights (I already revoked my positive so can't), can someone please neg it on my behalf?

  • Take them up on their 7-DAY MONEY BACK GUARANTEE:
    http://www.milandirect.com.au/money-back-guarantee/

I would recommend extending your warranty. These type of chairs don't last very long:
    http://www.milandirect.com.au/shop/category/extended-warrant…

    • Maybe I should, I'm going to be near an officeworks tomorrow, so I will call in and see what they have to offer. Will have to factor in return shipping costs too.

Though I note clause 6 in their money back guarantee (I've taken a hard copy just in case!)…
"6. Milan Direct reserves the rights to make changes to these terms and conditions without notice."

      • On their eBay items they expand on their promise. Search milandirect on eBay.

We are also proud to offer a No Risk, 7-Day 100% Satisfaction Guarantee on all your purchases. Customer satisfaction is our number one goal, and as a result, if for any reason you feel that you aren't 100% satisfied, you can return any item in its original condition within 7 days of the date of shipment for a full refund or exchange. No questions asked! (Shipping charges are non-refundable, buyer pays return shipping, must be in original packaging)

  • Hey Stumo,

I have been thinking a lot about getting the aeron inspired chair.

It looks like a good chair and the materials look good on the pics in the website.

You yourself have said it is a comfortable chair and adjustments are good.

Also the chair isn't too big which is good as i'm of average height.

However, you said the materials are crap and it is overpriced?

Could you please elaborate on this?

It is hard to find a comfortable chair that is around this price. A similar chair at ikea is $549. So based on the price it seems to be a good chair.

Any one else who's bought this chair please chime in.

    Thanks

The photos do look great I agree, but every single silver part in the photo that looks like aluminium, is actually plastic. Yes the chair is comfortable, and has very good range of adjustment. I just don't see it lasting more than a couple of years. In fact the only metal parts are the steel gas strut and the bracket it bolts to under the seat. As I said the arms are a joke, they flop around so much it really makes the chair feel even more cheap and nasty than it already is.

I'm also getting SPAM to my paypal email address from them now too. Thats how I know they are doing free shipping again (until midnight tonight).
