Might want to post which store you purchased it at.
It could be a "managers" special which would explain why it isn't online.

  • Care to upload your receipt?

  • I purchased it from the Cranbourne store and the guy whom I spoke to said its the same in all stores (VIC) if not just show the receipt that I have attached.

  • Is this price available in Brisbane?

    • Go look.

  • Just checked Officeworks Glebe (NSW) and they had no stock since it was a clearance model.

    • Wrong, glebe OW got PLENTY of stock. Despite showing him the OW invoice he refused to match the price. he want to know if the person that bought it match the price with other store and if yes which store.

      • Nah, I think they're different models as I noticed the branding on the enclosure of the stock they had was rotated compared to the images in the OP's review link.

    • Except it's Samsung. ;)

      • Meaning? No good? Good?

      • I thought the same. 3 year warranty on both, although the Samsung is actually available. You can get this hard drive (the old model of the WD Passport Ultra) on Amazon for around $113AUD delivered (around USD$70 pp), but I don't want to deal with overseas warranty claims.

WD has the highest fail rates, thats a statistical fact and I have experienced it myself (2 failed internals and 3 failed externals). I buy Samsung now for internal and external drives, and have NEVER had one fail (touch wood).

How long have you had the Samsungs for?
I've had just about all brands of drive fail for internals (Maxtor, Seagate, WD), but it can also depend on how you use them, if it's in use 24x7 then it's likely to fail sooner than something which is used less often. Ditto the externals, I rotate mine out every couple of years, but even the old ones are still going okay (WD, Seagate, Transcend, Iomega)

@nafe: I have had an internal 4TB HDD and an internal 500gB SSD for 4+ years in a gaming rig and an external HDD for over a year. No fails, and none of the WD external HDD's I h ave owned lasted even a year.

        • @nikkirose:
Cheers, I have a samsung EVO SSD but thats about it from them atm.

Clearance? This should be a standard price for 2tb. Gimme a 2tb at $80 and i'll clear it.

You do realise this is a 2.5" drive right?

      • Every time….

Yes, But I just think $100 should be the standard price for a 2tb spinning metal portable hard drive in 2015. And the deals page have one or two every week, : It's more a list of which company is deciding not to rip you off with a $150 price tag by offering it at price that reflects the technology. Clearance would be $70-80 and a good deal. its not a dig at op but a dig at australian companies.

@SamR: ^This. Those prices were great while they lasted but get used to the fact that they are gone.

In perspective of our dollar this is a great price.

  • Good drive.. recommend it!

  • Went to Officeworks Bourke Street (Melbourne) and none in stock and in fact, the guy looked up the code that was visible on the deposit slip and could not find it at all on their system. The only ones we could find were the $159 and 'metalic' $178 2TB Passport Ultras.

  • Is there any bigger Portable Hard Drives out at good prices?

  • none at Southport, they have some slightly newer model instead for $178.

    • The Metal case ones are $178, the "new" model of the Ultra is still $159.

      • I see, they didnt have any of the other Ultras either, just the metal case $179.

  • Which one is this exactly? Cant see anything WD titan on their page.

  • Tried coburg and maribrynong, both said no as its not on clearance and wouldnt accept the receipt as it didnt have the date.

Oh well, i went across to HN's and got the samsung for $108.

  • So no ones had any luck?
