Guess the leak a few days ago was right, oh well.

    • yeah, got the email today as well.

  • do you keep the games available or is it only limited to that specific month when you're on plus?

    • +3

I only got a PS4 this week so I'm not 100%, but i believe you keep the games for as long as your Plus membership is active.

      • Correct

    • +14

Technically you keep the games forever. All the happens when your membership runs out is there will be a little lock button next to the game and when you press X to play it will tell you you've run out of PS+. As soon as you renew again the lock will go away. This is a good system as it means you don't have to re-download anything at all.

    • +3

you keep them as long as you have PSplus.
you dont even need to download them on the month, just "buy" the games and later if you want (after the month if needed) you can download them.
so say if 4 month you want to play mass effect , seeing you bought it previously you just download it from your games list

      • yup, what PVA said, make sure you "tag" the games .. you should do it on the website, as you can tag all the games in one go (PS3, PS4, Vita/PSP)

        • +1

You use to be able to just buy the games on the PS3 but now you need to download but just back out of the download when it starts.

        • @PVA:
Think you can just add to cart online and not have to worry about the clumsy download handling on ps3. Works well.

        • @scuderiarmani:

Yeah, just log into your account at https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-au/home/games - add them to cart/"buy" them there and they'll be added to your download list so you can download them whenever you want!

        • @scuderiarmani:
I'll have to try it that way, thanks folks.

        • @PVA: Nah you can still buy them and not cancel. Below download there's a button to just purchase it and not D/load.

        • @stevensx:
I remember it used to be on the PS3, but I haven't seen it for a while.
the only option is download (below that is overview no Purchase). I just checked then.

        • @PVA: Really? I dont have PS+ anymore but I distinctly remember being able to do it. I would add it to cart or something and that would purchase it for me automatically.

        • @stevensx:
yeah, it hasnt been that way for a long time now (year or more)

  • -8

One of the better months in a while I'd say.

    • -3

It's negative to suggest it's a good month? Yeah ok….

  • -1

WD2 wasn't bad, shame it had no platinum trophy though. I finished it and then realised afterwards.

    • Yeah, that was disappointing

  • Playstation Blog.

  • +1

I wonder if they are releasing "Mass Effect 2, for PS3" or "the" Mass Effect 2 for PS3 (what was originally released on retail 5 years ago?)
ME2 for PS3 is one of the ONLY Mass Effect releases which included most of the DLC (only one DLC pack came out aftwards)

    • +1

Well they are not gonna make another mass effect 2 just for ps plus.

      • +1

Agree for the most part but EA are such scummy scummy people, the DLC for Mass Effect is a huge cash cow for them. Hence no GOTY edition ever.

        • you dont usually get the DLC as part of the deal, you will see all those bits as extras listed on the side.

  • Didn't PSN+ price went up by 10$ a few months ago? Used to be 20$ for 3 months how much is it now. I haven't renew mine for a while now.

    • Only for three month price. 12 month is still $69.

      • I dont need a 12 months subscription. I only play Battlefield 4 once in a blue moon and also I am on mobile internet.

        • +1

You might be better with one month then?

        • +1

Maybe you don't need a PS+ account then. Just create a new trial account every time you want to play, if you activate the PS4 as the primary for that account then you can sign out of it and sign into your account and it lets you use multiplayer because there is an active PS+ sub on your PS4. Don't think there's any limit to the number of trial accounts you can create.

        • @Agret: Did not know it could be exploited this way.

      • +1

I wonder if we'll ever see the 12+3 months, or 25% off on yearly PS+ again

        • +1

          Dear God I hope so

        • +1

I hope so too but it's unlikely ever since they made it compulsory for PS4 multiplayer the greedy bastards.

  • You'd think that considering you have to have a plus membership for multiplayer they'd offer more aaa or even aa titles again. Feels like once they got the subscription numbers to a satisfactory number they have really pulled back on the quality releases for plus members.

    • +2

It was definitely better early to get people interested. But with it being compulsory for MP I don't think it'll be as big again. Still good value though.

    • +2

You'd think that considering you have to have a plus membership for multiplayer they'd offer more aaa or even aa titles again.

Wouldn't it be the opposite, that instead of spending money on organizing AAA deals since you are forced to sub to PSN they can just save themselves money and go with indies who are desperate for exposure and sell out for practically nothing.

    • Yeah maybe, but i let my sub run out and ive been waiting for a decent free game for 3 months now. Would be good if more people did this. I only use ps plus for the "free" games so want to get some value for my money.

  • My PS Plus is running out at the end of the year, wont renew. Plus I will be getting an Xbox one in Dec. One of the reasons I am not getting the PS4 is because of the poor PS Plus selection over the past year. Xbox gold and EA access offer better games.

    • Also, Xbox LIVE subscriptions can be had for cheaper since the codes aren't region locked.

    • +1

Not sure why you getting negged, I'm actually agreeing with you the ps4 games are poor via ps plus. In fact it was only good for ps3 games. Now ps3 games ain't included much these days might as well not subscribe to it. Piss poor multiplayer needs PSN plus. Doesn't work for casual gamers who go online every now and then. It's no place for full time working parents

      • +1

Thats my biggest thing too. Casual online gamer so the value isnt there for me. Not to say tgat others dint find value in it but I'd be tipping a lot of subscribers woukd be getting a little annoyed as ps+ was one of their major draw cards prior to the ps4 release.

        • +1

Agreed, I would rather they keep multiplayer free and still charge for games on psn plus but still need better selection

  • I am looking at getting an Xbox one hopefully as well. Need to sell a few things though lol as my situation isn't the best personally. But my biggest reason for looking at getting one is better value in gold and maybe ea access. Also I would like the exclusives for it

    • +3

Sounds like you are making the best decision based on your wants and requirements. Not sure that this is an appropriate place to share though as it doesn't really add anything to this particular deal.

  • Qn for PS+ members.
I have 2 PS4s. Do I need to subscribe twice to play multiplayer LAN games or can I use one PS Plus account?
Project Cars is the game I have in mind and it looks like you cannot LAN without PS+.

    • you would need a PS+ profile to be the main profile on each console so yeah if you have 2 consoles you need 2 profiles with PS+ to do what you want, you can't just have the 1 PS+ profile be the main profile on 2 different consoles, would recommend setting one of profiles up as a US PS+ profile so can take advantage of the different sales they have

    • +2

You don't need 2 PS+ accounts/subs but your account can only be primary on one of your consoles. To sum it up basically for you:

      • Your PS+ account is primary on one console, on this console any account can access online multiplayer functionality. Best to set this on the "guest" PS4 (the one you won't be playing on primarily)

      • Your PS+ account is setup on your second console, on this console it is not the primary. For online multiplayer functionality you must be logged in as yourself, other profiles do not receive online play ability. This would ideally be the console you play the most on and nobody else does, the "personal" PS4.

As an added bonus if you buy a game on the PSN store you can play it on both consoles with the same access rights as the described above. This means you only need to buy each game once to play with a friend/family at your place.

      • +1

Thanks Agret. Appreciate the info. $140pa is a bit rich for LAN play I might do once a month and some indie games I don't want.
I'd rather buy the physical discs.
At least you can get some ROI by selling them off down the track.

        • It's not $140pa because you only need 1 plus subscription as I just laid out in the dot point. You basically use your account on both consoles at once, just one is passively using the sub (anyone on the console benefits) whereas the other console actively uses it (you have to sign in as yourself to use the sub)

As far as physical goes I'm not sure the ROI would counter out having to buy 2 copies of a game rather than 1 but it might considering how expensive digital copies are compared to physical… BigW have some great deals for games at launch ($68 compared to $90 on psn)

  • Since the games don't last after the end of the subscription, my 12-Month that came with the PS4 is absolutely useless (I don't use console for online). Quick question: Is there anyone here that wants to trade with me? (obviously it'll be cheaper than $70)

    • Trade what exactly? What are you looking for in return for the sub?

      • GTAV for steam

        • Whoa. GTA 5 on steam is more than around 105 aud. Good luck with that.

Unless you want rockstar key it is almost impossible to get anywhere lower than 70

        • @Letrico: nah, steam gifts are a lot cheaper (eg. some people trade for keys that amount to 60 aud or less)

  • +2

I've had my ps2/ps3/ps4 since launch.
I was okay with plus basically becoming mandatory with ps4 and the game incentive was a bonus.

I haven't played any plus games thus far. I didn't buy a ps4 to play 8bit Indie games. It's been largely disappointing.

I think Sony servers need to be stronger and general online experience needs to improve to warrant the plus subscription.

    • +1

Some of the PS+ games have been pretty good, even if they are indie titles but a lot of them are just brutally hard because they believe that is what made classic games worthwhile. I suppose being indie they need to artificially lengthen their games somehow…

    • The Lara Croft and Drive club games were great additions so far. But I agree with you.

    • Yeah, from memory Lara Croft, Driveclub and their very first non-indie, Injustice Gods Among Us have been the kind of more notable mainstream games.

I'll say this - I've run out of PS+ this month and I won't be renewing it until I have a game that I want to play online, with Fallout 4 you can't. The monthly games aren't enough to warrant me paying for PS+.

      • A Bucket load of launch day systems expire. You'd think Sony would have tried a bit harder to get people to renew for the month of November.

        • Well there is Drive Club Bikes and Uncharted Multiplayer, people still play Destiny and not to mention Metal Gear Solid? No new titles to add more subscription but rather ongoing subscription for those with existing need.

        • @Letrico: Yeah I get that. Honestly I've been really busy lately so haven't really been playing much multiplayer (used it to play Killzone and Cod only). So many great single player games such as Wolfenstein, Infamous, Lego Marvel, The Last of Us, Far Cry and not to mention Fallout 4 have actually lead to me to keep hold of my money as opposed to giving it to Sony. In the cases where people are playing single player games, Sony really needs to release good monthly games to suck people back into paying. What most people seem to be complaining about is the fact that Sony's multiplayer system appears to be inferior to that of Microsoft's. This was the case on the PS3 but users were comforted by the fact that PS3 online was free and Xbox's wasn't. This isn't the case anymore and the online experience hasn't really improved a great deal.

        • @stevensx: True, I had the ps plus subscription for 2-3 years consecutively and I rarely actually uses it to multiplayer. I'm just keeping it for the free games and discount benefit.

        • @Letrico: Yeah - deadset if a great game comes out I'm not gonna miss it by not having PS+. Honestly would have gotten it this month for Super Meat Boy but I already have that on Steam. If fallout was online they would be forced to have my money!!When multiplayer isn't a factor….they really needa step up with their free games offerings.

        • @stevensx: The main issue is still that there are too little games on PS4 library to start solid ps plus games. We will probably be seeing more indie titles for PS4 plus games for another year or two before games like Killzone and Knack appears. I'm just waiting or the inevitable Everybody gone to rapture to go Plus. A couple of indie I bought day one actually became plus titles which made me quite sad. Entwined and Counterspy were two of the example T_T

        • @Letrico: Haha kid you not, 5 days before Injustice became a + game I actually bought it from EB. Which was kind of lucky in a way as I returned it within the designated 7 days (literally the only thing EB does that isn't a total rip off to the consumer). But so many people have complained on the forums about buying a game that later goes onto PS+, just luck of the draw I guess. Part of that is the reason why I always buy physical games and secondhand off Gumtree too. I don't lose money worst case once I've bought at $50 and sold at $40, through trades I actually make money a lot of the time by trading an older game for a newer one. Not only is buying digital more costly and takes up more HHD space, but you can't put it on the web and make at least $50 back from what you paid. Doesn't make sense why people do so many things….bit off topic haha

        • @stevensx: Learnt my lesson. No more buying indie on PS4. :P I mean the Injustice was a rare case that a full AAA game became PS4 ps plus. Other games so far were smaller titles like Infamous First Light, MGS Ground Zeroes and Lara Croft temple of osiris still acceptable since price was low to begin with (I bought them all too T_T).

Never never buy indies unless you are desperate to play.

        • @Letrico: Totally agree. But again, if you want a small crappy game like, idk, The Walking Dead season 1 or 2. Just buy on Gumtree for $20 and it kind of hits a price-floor in that it won't go any lower so you actually won't lose any money. Also I'm a big Platinum hunter on ps4 and if there's a fun easy game I just play it for a week and return it to EB again.

        • @stevensx: :P I rarely play small games on console. I got my PC for all the indie stuff since they go way cheaper on PC. Don't have time to actually doing platinum on games but I'm close to getting Platinum for AC Syndicate since it doesn't involve multiplayer trophies now.

        • @Letrico: Haha yeah I have a feeling once I'm done with uni (final exam finishes on 18th) and start working full-time I might have a little less platinums to hunt lol. Really glad that Fallout is coming out soon so at least I'll have that played before I get a job. The Steam sales are just ridiculous for some of the Indie Games, defs worth getting in that case.

        • @stevensx: I picked up like Shadow Warrior yesterday for 1.80 USD. It's 85% off on steam store and if you go alienware arena you can get another 75% off coupon. so 85% then another 75% down to less than $2. Probably ozbargain worthy post too. Still sells on PS4 for $50-40

I'll be stuck in fallout until next year maybe. I spent 80-90 hours in vanilla skyrim back then. Not much time since I work but I usually finish long ass games in a month.

        • @Letrico: Oh the deals are unbelievable. Whenever people talk about the expensive prices of gaming PC I always mention how for the most part it is offset by the cheap prices of actual games.

Yeah vanilla Skyrim was platinumed in about 40 hours and I still continued playing for a little over 100. I actually convinced my gf to buy a PS4 ($399 + 2 games deal from Big W a while back) and she's buying Fallout too so at least we can play together rather than her take me away and say how I'm 'neglecting' her and blah blah blah hahah :P

        • +1

@stevensx: hahaha too bad my fiance doesn't game. I can't have game marathons just short bursts of game time over the day.
