Planning to study postgrad in Uni? Fees are increasing next year - Enrol early to avoid paying higher fees

This is a Public Ozbargain service announcement.

As we all already know the current government has made budget cuts to the education sector which means universities are forced to make up for the budget gap with increased fees. Well

It is now time to review which university you wish to enrol in and read up on their proposed fees for this year versus next year, and also work out how much you will be owing the government (if you are a domestic student) in HECS HELP debts.

  • Interesting post OP.
Just find a spam email in my inbox from yet another university. "If you've been considering starting postgraduate study, now's the time to enrol! Our closing date has been extended 'til the 11th of November. This is your last chance to get in before subject fees are increased for 2016 by up to $300 per subject."

For people who has done post graduate, will you choose to do it if all over again?
Personally I do not find correlation between post graduate study and pay. Happy to be free from HECS.

    • Actually I checked with ACU (australian catholic university) website. http://www.acu.edu.au/about_acu/our_university/important_dat…

The closing date is actually tomorrow for some of their courses:

      October 31 2015 Semester One, 2016 Applications

      Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours)
      Graduate Diploma in Psychology
      Master of Psychology (Clinical)
Master of Psychology (Clinical)/Doctor of Philosophy
Master of Psychology (Educational and Developmental)
Master of Psychology (Educational and Developmental/Doctor of Philosophy

So yeah, many universities have already closed their doors to enrolments, but some remain open still. Tomorrow is pretty much the last day.

Personally I do not find correlation between post graduate study and pay.

Post grad study might not get you a higher pay, but it might've landed you a job that you previously couldn't.

Some subject fields, such as science, technology, engineering and maths, there are more likely to be roles available to master’s graduates only.

    • It was Charles Stuart. Can't recall how they get my email address.

  • +1

So happy I don't have to pay for my postgraduate research degree.

  • Are you already in the workforce?

    • best to get some work experience before going into post graduate unless you are on the path of medical research or being an academic.

      • sounds like me

      • Yep. Agreed. Also depending on the workplace they may subsidise a percentage of your fees and you get to deduct the cost on your tax if you pay upfront.
