Vodafone USB 3G 3GB for $5 at Coles

400

I heard form the ozbagarin that there was a vodafone usb stick 3GB for $3 sold on Kmart, but they have none left at any kmart nears me. and then i have bought 2 vodafone 500mb for $5 at coles, frist day i used 300mb i thought i was going to replace it then i found out on my iphone it said it still have 2.6GB left then i konw that it must be a 3GB instead of 500MB, i went back to coles and bought another 5, open another one and its 29$ data plan which has 3GB data allowance. this simcard is compatiable to the vodafone pocket wifi , so you can buy more and bring the pocket wifi instead of using the usb stick with the computer. :) better to get them quick before ran out.
ps. the picture shows 500mb i returned to the coles and replace with the one has no 500mb tag.

      Are they 3GB?

      • yes they are, so far i opened 2 , they are 3GB.

      • bought 2, opened 1 so far, 500mb

  • Pretty sure this is a dupe from a few weeks back

    • +4

3 weeks back was a pocketwifi 3GB for $19, and 3GB $3 is kmart, maybe even longer ago but i havnt search any relate with this one. just for sharing the good deal to others.

      • You're right, I'm wrong. + from me

        • lol coz im out of internet i been search for pocket wifi every day finding a cheap one. and this would be the cheapest other than the $3 kmart one but they have none left

This deal has 10x the data of the previous.

      • I'd say that old 3GB stock is being sold out in some stores instead of those $5 300MB modems.

        Some people may get lucky.

So check for sticker etc that states it's a 300 / 500MB instead of 3GB (which won't indicate the included data) & avoid the lower included data ones.

      • yes its 10x more with the same price

  • +2

Old stock in some stores may still be 3GB, but new stock is likely to be 500MB. Usually no indication on box. Only shows after activation.

    So it's likely to be a $5 gamble - 3GB or 500MB.

    • that's y i had return the 500mb one to the shop where it has the tag. but as i said opened 2of them and both are 3GB

      • +1

Yes. Was updating my comment to reflect that after re-reading description & viewing 500MB sticker in photo.

But value on SIM is unknown until activated (unless states 500MB of course).

So watch out for the 500MB marked boxes & avoid.

All stock I saw last week at a few Coles were 500MB. That's all they've stocked in my area for a while.

No expiry date & modem should be unlocked as in other deals. (I've got a stack of 3GB SIMs from previous $9 Coles Vodafone USB modem.)

        Best to add location.

        • my friend and i bought around 10 and gone, try coles express and nearby coles they cant run out that fast

        • @kevinct111:
Noticed a few in the photo ;-)
Good luck. Often quieter stores have older stock.

        • @Infidel: i think my area isnt quite at all lol. very busy, and 2 coles facing to each other just 1 min walk

  • How long b4 the data expire?

    • 30days if u use it slowly,2 days i used 3gb

Is Vodophone any good for data speed though?

    • +6

      Better than your spelling ;-)

      • -3

Don't give a rats about spellin or grammer lol VhoderPhone is it?

    • My experience. They were crap. Then they got good. Now they're crap again.

I go between voda and telstra to use up what I have and I dread the months I pick voda. Reception is crap. Dropouts like no one's business and 3G+ speed….well lets just say I'm glad I don't need super fast mobile Internet.

    • Depends on a lot of factors. There's no simple answer.
I find Vodafone 4G much the same speed as Telstra 4G & Optus is way too slow, where I live.

Your experience will vary, depending on where you are, how congested use is in that area at that time, 3, 3+ or 4G, modem, frequency,…

  • Picked up 2 at Coles Bowral this morning - thanks

  • Is that Vondafone has a very slow internet connection?

    Did anyone buy in WA?

    • Yes bough two from Garden City today, I think one or two left at that time

  • +1

Calls Vodafone, I want to make a complaint!

Operater: what seems to be the problem?

I'm having difficulty getting 3gb on my brand new usb dongle I purchased from varies stores and only comes with 500mb!?

Operator: Np sir, simply make a recharge of $30 and you will have 3gb. Of data.
Sorry I meant 3.5 after you purchased a recharge of 3gb.
    …..

Operator: Any thing else I can help you with?

    Slams phone.

    • This is poor customer service! !

      • +1

Yes poor service by the customer:-(

Despite warnings in this deal to be careful to buy the 3GB model , DEvok bought the 500mb product.

Could still have taken it back like the OP did. The important difference in packaging was in deal photo.

Once it's activated there's not much anyone can do if you buy the wrong product. Blaming Vodafone achieves nothing.

So check at time of purchase it is not the 300 or 500MB product!

  • I bought one from Coles about 9 months ago for around $10 I think, when will this expires ? I am not sure when I will be activating the Usb.

  • I bought the 500MB version for $5 and can't get it to work with either the latest Windows 10 or El Capitan on Mac OS.

Is it compatible with the latest operating systems?
