NENE Chicken at Highpoint does NOT accept Amex. Confirmed at store today. Real shame because that would definitely have been a winner like you mentioned.
Thanks for the update. Apparently it was a working option at the Box Hill store when they first opened (unknown to them) and it looked like the AmEx charges for a $99 Nene chicken order was about $20. They quickly made sure that it was turned off at the other stores and a WTH message was sent to their bank.
doesn't take amex. pay with other card and send receipt to amex to get you $10 credit.

Please note that there is a new Huxtaburger in Eastland (VIC) but they currently do not accept AmEx. The serving staff there said they were setting it up but I'd definitely NOT try Shop Small AmEx there yet.
There is also a new Jimmy Grants in Eastland but I did not check to see if it accepted AmEx.

Fantastic range of Soju. Last time I went in they had at least half a dozen new varieties/flavours.
I haven't found cheaper in Melbourne yet either. Chateul Sooruk @ $6/btl (technically not Soju, but much tastier).
Some varieties had been as low as $4/btl before the rebranding to "Asian Grocery".
Good to know AmEx is accepted there. I haven't tested that place yet. Might go there tomorrow and check out what is available. I'm currently just stocking up on Lap Cheung (Chinese pork sausages) at [GREAT EASTERN GROCERY - 185 RUSSELL ST, MELBOURNE, VICTORIA 3000].
I think that shop is a Korean grocery store and IMHO a bit pricier than Chinese Groceries.

This card accepts AmEx only at the Concierge. They will charge you a $1.50 handling fee and 3% (0.65 for $21.50) charge. Despite this, getting a $20 gift card will physically cost you $12.15 (or 39.5% discount) and allow you to use it in not just Emporium but in MYER Melbourne City!

That is an awesome idea. You should only get charged the single $1.50 plus 3% on $101.50.

Got mine today. The rep said she had done a lot of gift cards on AMEX today. She knew about the $10 cashback offer and thought it was a good deal.
Yeah. If it was an Asian women I was the first person to do it and I warned her that there will be a lot more people coming to do it over the next month. She said she would tell the others about it.
There were 2 ladies when I was there. Asian lady and a woman named Katie. One processed the card while the other wrapped it up (assembly line style). They'll be having a fun November!

I did two on the first day. got one email for one and none for the other. I got $20 back though.
My wife did 3 AmEx cards on Wednesday and got the email for all three straight away. I have not bothered checking to see if any of the $10 amounts have come through but I will assume it will by Monday next week.

Went there and stuffed my face with some yummy Sushi. I did not understand the electronic menu though and as I could not see any prices on it, i decided not to risk ordering from it and just had the 7 plates from the 'train'. I'll definitely go back to try again on another AmEx card though.

Hmmm, Pinewood Newsagency wouldn't top up Myki on Amex.
They stated top ups can't be done with Myki anymore in general as of last week (not just their decision).

Same thing happened to me, asked if Amex was accepted and was told "yes". However half way through processing my Myki top up, the lady suddenly says that Amex cards don't work for Myki top ups.

KFL supermarket is on the list, they have lots of asian food at good price. The one in Coburg will accept amex card, dont know the ones in Springvale, footscray or other places, but Flemington one wont accept amex.
I think only the KFL Coburg one was on the AmEx Shop Small list when I scanned it (back then) so I assume we shouldn't bother about the others unless they are added in my AmEx at a later point.
The KFL in St Albans is listed as well. The Amex shop small site search is so bad. Not sure if they accept Amex though.

I swear they were there last week when I checked, but can't find them anymore. FWIW, I went to the Nandos on level 3 inside MC and can confirm they accept Amex. Didn't get an email, so lets see if I get the refund on a removed listing.

For anyone that is an Accor Plus member, soul cafe at the Mercure Swanston street accept AMEX. We had steak and fish and chips for lunch yesterday for $11 total, and it was very nice

Assuming you definitely signed up to Shop Small, just make sure you have a copy of your receipt and after a week let the site know. From my personal experience I find it takes anywhere from 2-5 business days to be credited. Since you went on Sunday I would be VERY surprised to see it come after just one day.

The ramen at Ajisen Ramen was very salty for my liking. May be that the Japanese ramen's characteristic. I will try Ramenya or other ramen restaurants at Emporium this weekend.
Wasn't the happiest with Ramenya in Emporium. I thought the soup base was too bland. I personally think that the Raman at Hakata Gensuke has the best soup base out of the lot but it is not part of AmEx Shop small. In fact I think they are cash only.
