Hi OP, any deal on flights from Sydney to Japan? Or korea?

    • +1

      Hi,

A cheap Sydney->Tokyo fare was just found. I've updated the OP.

Sydney to Tokyo Flights $566 return

      • When you click on the $283 and $284 flights on the monthly screen, it then takes you to the next page where the cheapest is $709. Am I doing something wrong?

        • Same here.

        • +1

          what $283 and $284 flights?

Update: Ok, now I see what you mean. The flights must have been sold or withdrawn. It takes a little while price charts to be updated with live flight data, but they should be removed soon.

        • @IWantThatFlight: on the link you posted for Sydney. Sydney to Tokyo 12/2/2016 $283, Tokyo to Sydney 28/2/2016 $284. It then takes you to the next page where it says $711.

  • Need brisbane to Tokyo =)

  • Insane prices..

OP, I sent you a a brief question about a flight to Korea via PM, would really appreciate if you could answer :)

    • you can fly to Seoul from Osaka and Tokyo and if you want to go budget. fly with peach airlines

      • Haha :) That is probably the cheapest way to go. You can probably even use some of the Korean low cost airlines.

      • This is exactly what I did. Flying from Osaka to Busan with Air Busan. They give you free food too :)

    • Hi CheapCoffee,

      Sent you a PM.

I doubt it. The guy was a nuclear plant worker which already predisposes them to be more prone to cancer…

It's not really an unknown - although the media often makes radiation sound mysterious and spooky. The data on radiation levels (including independent, open-source data) is widely available.

      http://safecast.org/tilemap/?y=35.696&x=139.681&z=9

Shows a background rate of exposure in and around Tokyo of between 0.08 and 0.13μSv/h. Take the upper end of that rate and multiply by a number of hours to get a dosage.

The total dose you would receive in Tokyo would be

      168 * 0.13 = 21.84 μSv in a week
      672 * 0.13 = 87.36 μSv in a month
      8760 * 0.13 = 1,138.8 μSv in a year

      Now compare these figures to:
50,000 μSv – Maximum allowable yearly occupational dose (USA)
100,000 μSv – Lowest yearly dose likely linked to increased cancer risk
3,000 μSv – Radiation dose from a mammogram
2,000 μSv - annual radiation dose for the average person

In fact the 16 hours you'll spend airborne would probably expose you to up to about 100μSv

(note: dosage limits are often quoted in millisieverts (mSv). Multiply these by 1000 to get the equivalent in microsieverts (μSv))

Great work. Even in Iwaki, Fukushima just 45km from the reactor it's around 0.54 μSv or 4730 μSv in a year.

Also, there's a few decent studies (2,839 participants) like this:

        http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.…

"In conclusion, we evaluated internal radiation exposure in Iwaki city, Fukushima Prefecture, using WBC, and we confirmed that the committed effective doses in residents are sufficiently low and comparable to the public dose limit (<1 mSv)"

Sydney to Tokyo Flights(iwantthatflight.com.au) $566 return
But it involves a long stopover (both ways) so is only good if you really want to save some $$$. Jetstar flys direct for around $630

Hi Rep, I don't think Jetstar flies directly from Sydney to Tokyo. Correct me if I am wrong.

One stop via Gold Coast and rather expensive…. :-( .. !!

    • Sorry, you're right. There is a stop over in either Cairns or the Gold Coast (or both) from Sydney.

  • Any deals from Adelaide to Tokyo/osaka?

  • IWTF- you've provided great deals lately. Just wanted to say thanks very much.

Would there be any Adelaide to Japan flights on the cheap?

  • Thanks. Booked through lastminute via IWTF. I'd avoid Bravofly even though they are about $10 cheaper per person.

I wonder how IWTF is able to search for cheaper fares than skyscanner?

    • +1

      Because they really WTF!

      • Its true, we do :)

    • You realise Bravofly and Lastminute are the same company right?

      • I didn't but even if they were, the reviews for their customer services clearly indicate that customers' experience of the two entities are quite different.

        • Those reviews would mostly stem from before they merged - now they have merged I understand they have ultimately consolidated their websites and offerings. Expect to see Lastminute's rep drop to Bravofly's, not the other way around.

I certainly wouldn't be booking anything with either of them given my friends' experiences with Bravofly (Skyscanner appear to have stopped returning search results for Bravofly as well which is often telling).

  • Hi OP,
When would be the best time to book flights for Oct 2016 (Syd to Tokyo)? Noticed those prices aren't inclusive of those dates.

    • +1

      Hi 2SeeKU,

Unfortunately we don't have any advance warning of when cheap flights will be released. There is lots of time till Oct/16 so I would hang out a few months & hope that Jetstar has a sale that covers that period.

      • Thanks for the advice!

  • Gosh where are all the march and april fares?

    • Think those times would be peak as it has Easter, school holidays, Golden week and cherry blossom season during that period?

  • Sugoku yasui! :) Very cheap!

Hello OP. Any flights from Perth to Tokyo?

  • Add an extra $87 for luggage costs per person.

    • -1

You can't do 5 days on 7kg of dufflebag? :)

(one of the examples above is 5 days).

  • Hey OP are there any flights from Melbourne in late June to Tokyo and arriving back in Melbourne mid-July? I'm kind of new to all this and another question, what's a good fare for late June to Tokyo and arriving back in Melbourne? Thanks in advance!

  • +1

The dates I want only have cheap flights available through Bravofly. Does anyone have experience booking through Bravofly? Website has a dodgy-ness factor and reviews aren't too positive.

    • +1

I Googled "bravofly review" because I had much the same question, and boy are the reviews bad from all over the world lol.

      • Yeah, there's some comments above about how bad they are. Not worth the risk by the looks of it.

  • Ahhhhhh yesssssss swotvac and exam time again

  • something of a site functionality question rather than specific to this deal so i hope it's OK to ask here as hopefully it may benefit someone else too…. i noticed you guys have an option for email alerts when something drops below a set price (which i LOVEEE and have used in the past on another site) - what i really want to do is be flexible with the dates, but search a specific airline - do you think this is possible?

example being… i'm a velocity platinum member, and have a passionate distaste for Jetstar. some close friends moved to Japan recently so i'm very keen to get there, so i'm flexible on actual travel dates, but need to travel on specific airlines (virgin, airnz, singapore & etihad being the ones i'm after) - i dont mind the layover in SIN as long as i can get tickets for a decent price on the airlines that i get rewards with (also lounge access and much nicer treatment all round)

i asked this question of the support team for the other website (wont mention them here as this is your deal!) and they said it wasnt a priority for them to implement but not a complete impossibility in the future :(

    • +1

      Hi Jaybo,

This functionality isn't that difficult to implement technically on the back end, but is not easy from a UI perspective (and our UI is visually challenged already…). Its not easy to allow the selection of airlines, but we will think about what can be done.

      Cheers.

      • thanks! yeah as i mentioned i'm not sure if anyone else would find benefit from such a feature… probably a bit of a niche market :D

  • Is there an issue if I've already booked departure and return flight, but then book another return flight for a week later? Can I just cancel the first (earlier) return flight without issue since I already have another return flight booked?

Is there an issue if I'm a no show?

  • i just looked up tokyo melbs.. by the time i was done checking out with all the BS fees, i had added a considerable amount.

Went to webjet, found it slightly cheaper, charged me less for adding luggage (jetstar 35$ vs 50$ for 20kg) and chucked in a bonus 10k flybuy points and got a better deal.

    Compare a bit guys…

  • I still for the life of me cannot get my result pages to look like the ops post: http://iwantthatflight.com.au/x2MELTYO-Flights-from-Melbourn…

Every time I try, my results come back in this format… http://iwantthatflight.com.au/flight.ashx?&oc=MEL&dc=TYO&dd=…

Can some please explain to my potato brain what im doing wrong 😔

    • +1

      Hi Ameno,

When you choose the dates in the search box, select "Price Chart" instead of an actual date.

      • Thanks again mate. Noooow I've got it :)

  • I can't see and $460 fares anymore, deal over?
