I guess these all use some amount of standby power, less than if you have a bunch of things connected to a powerboard however.
These are quite amusing really - spend $20 to save $20 a year in standby power, but probably still tumble dry your clothes on a sunny, dry day…

Actually I have a use for one of those. Cheaper than an electrican to put in another powerpoint/switch. Being wired it is always where you left it. But do I want to spend $20?
