Highly rated VPN.

Seems to be a perpetual deal… at this stage, will see in 6 days.

If searching for the deal on Stack Social, click on the magnifying glass icon on right side of top menu and search for PRIVATE.

Enjoy!

:)

AMENDMENT: PIA is USA based so easy for Malcolm to obtain info about our activity when he's eating crumbs from Obama's table.
Here's another deal I posted using PureVPN who are Singapore based, more secure for us as Malcolm doesn't eat out of Lee Hong's Mao Wonton Mee bowl (Singapore PM). https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/217191

  • Yeah if you want netflix look elsewhere, a mate of mine has PIA and us netflix is horribly low quality.

      That's what smartDNS is for.

      • you'd want to get this. incredible deal seeing as it's about that price for 1 year normally https://stacksocial.com/sales/getflix-lifetime

        • Does getflix work for other devices too? Can I use tablets and stuff? And is it usable by only 10 specific devices or is that just a limit on the number that can be using it at any given time?

        • @nmartin84:

Yes, works with any device than runs netflix, I think.
I've only played around with it in the past week or so. Perhaps get the trial first (although make sure you get the lifetime deal before it expires).

You can change the DNS settings on the router, so essentially it would work for as many devices are connected to the network (without having to change settings on the phone). You can only have one IP registered to use at one time. Two ways to approach this (depending on how you use it)

If you use Netflix at home (like me), but have multiple devices, change the DNS on the router, so everyone in the house can use US Netflix without too much messing around.

If you use on minimal devices, but lots of locations, just change DNS settings on mobile device/laptop, and whenever you're connecting from a different connection, just press update on the app to update your connection IP with Getflix.

Not aware of any device limits, but seeing as the highest plan only allows 4 devices at one time, I can't see how a limit of 10 would be an issue.

    • i know a few people on PIA with HD us netflix.

I have used PIA for several years, and in the last couple of months the performance seems to have dropped somewhat. Using the Android app, I fairly frequently experience periods where there is no activity despite requests being made, etc. I used to strongly recommend PIA, but am less inclined to do so now. (Having said that, I don't have an alternative to suggest).
Also no good for Hulu any more (although that applies to most VPNs).

Thanks for the feed back, there's a decent list here, not sure how credible it is though, i.e. is it paid for by the top five providers or created by the top provider.

Also different comparisons on the first page http://www.vpnranks.com/

Even Choice have gotten in on the action:

Choice seem to agree PureVPN is #1, so at least that's accurate :>

I just wish that VPN providers would get it together and provide pro-rata subscription refunds (like most hosting services do) so if the service becomes rubbish 6 months into a 2-year subscription, you could get a refund for the unused portion.

To the best of my knowledge, no VPN provider offers this.
(Edit: my mistake, http://www.limevpn.com do. This is in no way an endorsement of LimeVPN, though, apart from their refund policy)

    What vpn does ozbargainers recommend?

    • +1

I use PureVPN and it's great, fast speeds day and night to local and international servers.

      • Does Netflix and Torrents work using PureVPN?

        • Yup

      • Looking for a great deal on PureVPN now.

      • Hrrrmmm just checking out PureVPN on their website (https://www.purevpn.com/buy-now) they have
"Buy World's Most Reliable VPN Service
51,682 Australians in the past 48 hours embraced 100% online privacy, security and freedom from metadata retention with PureVPN.?

Each time I refresh the page the number of Australian's changes between these numbers:
        51,6xx - 51,7xx
Also, the time last purchased jumps from say 48 minutes to 56 minutes ago alternating between higher and lower numbers which shows they fake it.
Their numbers are off and so dodgy.

At this rate they'll hit 5,000,000 Australians in 200 days. Haha

Go the marketing team, bonus for you guys.

        • That's probably just the amount of connections from Australia. No way would they get that many customers that fast.

        • @Mechz: Gotcha! :)

Have been using PIA for a couple weeks and its awesome. FYI if you have Telstra prepaid and android, you can download the app and subscribe using prepaid recharge credit.

    • +1

66% off is much better than 24% off =)

    • +1

The price with PIA directly through the app is higher than this offer (eg only choice in the Android is $39.95 USD for a year or $6.95 for a month)

Is there a way to bundle these choices so I get the 2 year offer, but purchased via Google Play using Telstra prepaid credits?

    • +1

where do yo go to download and pay - i only see the free app
      https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.privateint…

I only have Iphone but thinking of getting a friend to buy it with their credit

      • +1

Download the free app, and there's an option in the App to Sign up.
Then it takes you to the payment screen with standard Google Play store payment options.
This allows you to link your Google Play account to Telstra prepaid (if not already linked) and pay

I use PIA for Netflix US and it works fine for me

    • Thanks for the update, I'll remove from OP.

  • a) Dupe https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/217120

    b) Use PureVPN instead ;).

    • D'oh!
Still good info in this one. :)

    • +2

You link to a $31.95 for 1 year deal on the PIA website.
So…. this is simiar but isn't a dupe - it's $59.95 for 2 years via the Stacksocial page.

And I got 10% off as well, for my first stacksocial purchase.

      • Nice, thanks bro.

    • Isn't a dupe, but you have showed me the light brother.

    Malcolm Turnbull is watching you

    Hey Turnbull ( ° ͜ʖ͡°)╭∩╮

    • lol, careful Turnbull virtually invented the internet in this country, haha

      • +1

And made a nice penny or two while doing so!

PIA is USA based so easy for Malcolm to obtain info about our activity when he's eating crumbs from Obama's table.

    ….Absolute gold.

Also I'm with PureVPN, gui is amazing and damn their speeds are quick. Very impressed.

  • The deal sounds good, PIA i suppose cheapest currently unless another vpn site comes up with better deal. I am also searching for other cheapest options but that one looks good.

Though I was wondering if this discounted price is ongoing subscription price for following years?

    • I believe, it's once off for the 2 years, but by then there will be another deal somewhere or email them upon expiration and ask for a deal or you jump ship. :)
