Hey Guys,

Bargain price on some AMAZING headphones.

$159 + postage at eglobal. Retail is $399. Cheapest on ebay is $199.

*Note this is just for the closed back version and not the open back. Maybe ask for a price match?

The headphones are great for everything. Big sound stage and instrument separation which makes them perfect for gaming and complex music. Dont bother with over priced gaming "headsets" these are what you want.

Any questions about the headphones ask away. I have had mine for about a month now.

Cheers

  • Have you tried playing with open back headphones? It help's separate the sound. I find using closed headphones when there's an explosion I can't hear people around me.

Good find looks like a cheap price!

    • I wanted to get the opens for the reason you stated. But I use them at work too. So isolation is a must. Plus I plan on doing some all nighters when halo 5 hits and dont want to disturb the other half.

I was considering getting a second pair just so I have some at home and dont have to carry them with me.

    • So true , im using the open back version AD900 its much better for gaming, awesome soundstage , accurate pin point sounds

      • What mic did you attach to them for gaming?

          Got a few choices.

          • zalman zm-mic1 $8-15? Best cheap option.

          • Sony ECMCS3 $20-30? Much better than the zalman, still a clip on.

          • V Moda Boom pro $30-50? (requires detachable cable mod, but also the best add on mic for headphones from my research)

          • Antlion Mod mic 4.0 $50-80? cool product, not sure its worth the price in OZ.

        • no sorry i dont use mic, only use it for offline console games

        • @Justin Powell:

          Thanks!

They have a pretty great price on the UE900s and Westone UM 50s as well.

  • Dumb question, hard to research at work, what's the difference with open and closed back?

I prefer over ear headphones with allowance for bigger ears, hate them sitting flush.

    Had the old 900s previously.

      Short short version.

      Closed.

      • Isolates sound.
      • Bit more bass.
      • Smaller soundstage

      Open.

      • Sound will bleed out. Some say its comparable to laptop speaker volume when turned up.
      • Less bass.
      • Bigger soundstage.
      • More natural feeling, and wont fatigue ears as quickly.

People usually say if you can get away with opens thats what you should buy. But if disturbing others is an issue get the closed.

  • does this require a amp?

    • No.

    • Tried driving them with a HTC one m8, Galaxy s5 and s3, laptop, stock pc soundcards, and the 3.5mm port on the new xbox one controllers.

All worked awesome. Particularly the HTC. Xbox one controller sounds great but I couldnt get it to bone shaking volume like the others. But the cord is so long that you could plug into the TV and sit back no problem.

I've owned a pair of these, much better sound quality than the M50 series (since I owned a pair of M50 too). The A900X is closed back, but the sound isolation is not that good (People next to you may hear what you hear if the volume is loud, but you don't hear what they say). May you guys be aware of that.

Also please allow 100 hours burn-in at least, users may hear some sharp or harsh sound at the beginning.

If you are hoping crazy bass from these cans, please don't buy them. They are best suitable for vocal and concert type music, the sound produced is quite accurate, clear and detailed.

    • Agreed. I don't understand Ozbargain's obsession with the M50s, they're really not great headphones @ the price point of $180-$200. A900X will blow the M50s out of the water in all aspects of sound quality and comfort - but not on noise isolation.

Different people have different requirements - I work in an office and commute on public transport so isolation is non-negotiable. I know the sound of open headphones is a much more enjoyable experience, but it's a luxury myself and many others don't have (currently using I am using the M50's with a Fiio E18).

If the day comes where I score a job where I work from home, I'll be rewarding myself with a very decent pair of open headphones. Till then, I'm very happy with my M50's!

    • Spot on bro.

I am pretty satisfied with the bass atm, very balanced I listen to mostly metal so they need to be tight too much bass and everything just muffles.

I have had no problem with isolation? different shaped heads? LOL

      • Have you noticed if you put A900x on a desk and playing max volume, they are just like mini speakers…

        • many headphones are like that aren't they?

  • How well do they work for travelling? e.g. over long flights and long rides?

    • TBH man. Not really.

They are super comfortable and for me the closed back isolate well.

However they are HUGE, having them wrapped around your neck is awkward and they dont fold up in anyway. They are pretty solidly built but they arent built for travelling or taking a beating imo.

      • Bummer, was after a decent pair for travelling.

        Cheers for the quick reply.

    • For flights I think you really need noise cancelling. I've tried my closed M50's on a flight out of curiosity and they didn't cut it (way too much external noise).
For me I only fly a few times a year (therefore i couldn't justify spending too much money) so tried the noise cancelling headphones from Jay Car, although the sound quality isn't as good as what any other headphones I own, I found the noise cancelling to be pretty good for around $70. But if you want quality I'd look at something like AT's noise cancelling range or Bose, etc.

  • Great headphones. But pretty heavy. Cant lie on back with these. They lean towards studio monitors.

Great price. Ive had mine for 2 years.

  • Might have to talk my nephew out of Beats and into these.

    • how old is your nephew? Because this headphones need a properly big head. And kinda need a hair tie between the wings to keep it tight.

The headphones are amazing. But really wont fit well on a kid IMO. But if they dont fit keep them for yourself!

      • He's about 10
