Another OzBargain Exclusive: 10% Cashback on All Scoopon Local & Travel Deals @ CashRewards

2640

After posting this deal, I unashamedly contacted CashRewards and asked why they don't get Scoopon on board. 48 hours later, Scoopon is in fact on board! And thanks to the power of persuasion, for 3 days they'll be offering a whopping 10% cashback sitewide on all local & travel deals. This offer will coincide with the VIP event. Amazed at the power of OzBargain! Enjoy :)

Link will be updated tomorrow (Tuesday Oct 20) at 12 noon AEDT to show 10% discount. Now live.

  • TA may be should link the deal to VIP event?

  • +9

Those Woolworths/Caltex gift cards are looking pretty good.
10% cashback after 5% off from VIP event gives a total of 14.5% off! Time to stock up? =D

    • +1

They usually exclude them, but hopefully they don't. In which case, it would indeed be pretty damn good.

      edit:
      Their page says

      Important:

Rewards are not payable on Shopping deals.

I wonder what category the eGift Cards go under…

      • It has previously been listed under Shopping. Local is just local businesses (eg restaurants, trades people, etc) & Woolies is certainly not travel (yet).
        So no Cashback :-(

        • +1

It's currently under 'local' for Melbourne, so fingers' crossed it stays that way https://www.scoopon.com.au/deals/67301#/

        • @rawm: Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh… lol

@tightarse: Yep…I hesitated for a second before thinking WWTAD and pressed the mighty Post Comment button!

        • @rawm: Its unavailable :(

        • @tightarse:

          It's too late

        • @rodinthink:
Deal for these cards hasn't started yet! Sale starts at noon, but cards may start after that.

        • @rawm:

does it matter that it's under melbourne if you're from sydney?

Well spotted. You take the prize. Thanks :)

Thanks TA - will it include wish egift cards?

  • I see
    Scoopon
    Up to 3.13% Cashback

    • Starts tomorrow.

  • +1

Haha cool. Finally Scoopon on a cashback site! I've been waiting.

  • nice :)

    • But you don't buy Scoopon

  • Yay! Thanks for contacting them! :) Next up, deals.com.au/cudo?? :P

    • I've actually noticed a lot of overlap between cudo and living social. So if you find a good deal on cudo, I'd have a look on living social and see if it's there as well, so you can use the cashback. I think living social has a better refund policy as well (and I think they also let you return a voucher for living social credit up until it expires).

  • Can you get them to add catch of the day please? They have the same stuff but better discounts/sales so usually cheaper there

  • our deal

  • +1

How does this actually work? I'm so confused…

  • Great deal TA, thanks. Maybe Scoopon will hike up their prices though to pay for it.

  • Did you win a lotto in the past, TA??? How did find and have time for all of these? Very impressive mate.

Not a deal for me. Seems more like an announcement

Stick to being easternculture and let jv be jv :)

  • Cashback on Crown Cards do we think? Travel?

  • +1 for TA's efforts.

  • This is awesome! Thanks! I wondering if they will include Dick Smith next? :)

Good on you for making this suggestion but CashRewards payment delays do not motivate me enough to buy. It has taken me 1/4 of a year to get approvals and some have been unexpectedly rejected after being tracked. It's good for those who don't mind a long wait.

    • +16

Andrew from Cashrewards here. We are working really hard with our stores on improving the time it takes for them to approve transactions. articmonkey and anyone else who feels the time taken to approve the transaction is over the prescribed time for the store can contact me via PM with their Cashrewards user/email and we will do our very best to hurry up the store involved.

      • +1

Thanks Andrew, first time user and i just received my cash reward money within an hour and a half of purchase :) fantastic work!

      • Buddy, I create account on CASHREWARDS and made purchase through cashrewards website on SCOOPON. I purchased CALTEX GIFTCARD through the link provided by cashrewards. But later on I check my email and came to know that I got mail from CASHREWARDS for activation link for CASH BACK… so i just activated that one.

So, this one is not going to affect my CASH BACK for my purchase of CALTEX GIFT CARD… Right?

        • +1

Right. Don't worry, not activating will not effect your Cashrewards, you just can't cash-out until you activate.

Hi coolsimian, I just put my CR complaint thru and Andrew had it paid in an hour. I wrote to him:
"Great service and response time. Thanks Andrew, will do. And will put a note on the post regarding this. :) "

    • +1

One transaction of mine (hotel.com) is even longer, 1/3 year :-), and we are talking about a non-refundable, fully-paid at booking transaction. In short, the clause about "after the refund period" does not apply.
But I have PM'ed Andrew, hope this is simply down to something having gone wrong, and not typical of hotel.com

      • +1

4 months is crazy - the thing is 3-4 months (or 1/3 of a year) is within the prescribed time for some bookings so I have had no luck when following up.

While it is a bonus, if they want to motivate people to buy, I feel they should place a higher priority on improving their process times as opposed to increasing their partners. If the experience is poor, what does it matter who is on board?

        • +1

You know what is funny? At around that time, there was an advert on ozbargain, by hotels.com regarding a special of 5%. I saw it very soon after making the booking using cashrewards. So had I looked for any specials by the merchant on the internet instead, I would have achieved the same result without all this waiting.

      • +2

My cashback for Expedia took 7 months after completion of travel.

        • +1

7 months? That's crazy. Not holding out much hope for my completed hotel bookings to be processed before quarter 1 2016.

Does anyone know how the competitors compare to CR with processing times?

        • +1

Wow … over 1/2 a year! That's long. Any other longer waits out there? :-) Seriously hope not.

Arcticmonkey has a good point, if the OZB community collectively share their experiences about the merchants' cashback timeframes, we can try to avoid those merchants that have long cashback timeframes, and reward those that have reasonable cashback timeframes.

I have only used CR a few times, Ebay was good, still waiting on Hotels.com.
Will have to see about scoopon, which I just purchased from.

        • @arcticmonkey:
I gave up after 3 months so it was a nice surprise when it eventually got approved. I don't think CR has any control over the time frame. They can't pay you until they get paid first.

        • @jackofspade: I tend to agree with you. That is why Store Rep Andrew's efforts here are really helpful.

And gotta say, as a concept, it is brilliant for us shoppers. When the stores have reasonable cashback timeframes.

    Thanks TA, another amazing deal!

  • Scoopon doesn't exist in Canberra, ACT region

    • whats a Canberra?

      • +2

if it stops the whole nation stops.

  • I have tracking for scoopon - it just took 3 hours, tops. Legit deal!

    • Does it work if you pay using Paypal?

      • Not sure, I used credit card just to be sure..

      • Worked for me!

  • Anybody got cashback tracking for Crown gift cards yet?

    • Yep received mine!

      • Me too, 3 hours, as above

  • Thanks Ikp.

  • Likewise got mine!

  • can i use different scoopon accounts but same Cashreward account?

    • yes

      • Be careful. Will probs track initially but get cancelled/drop off your cashbacks prior to being paid by scoopon. I.e. will track but no cashback on subsequent accounts

  • Guys, I made an account on cashrewards and made purchase on SCOOPON for caltex gift card, but later on when I was checking my mail, I came to know that cashrewards people sent me email for the "activation link for getting cash back"…..so i pressed on that link and activated….but m i going to be eligible for getting cash back for caltex gift card?

    • Perhaps give the Store Rep Andrew a PM and ask him about it

Although, I have PM'ed him and still awaiting a response.
