      or if you stay off the road the rider doesn't have to worry about hitting you

      Every time there is a cycling post you turn up with a nasty comment. I am not sure what run-in you've had with a cyclist in the past. Can we acknowledge your hatred of cyclists and move on please, there are plenty of us that enjoy cycling and are interested in valuable cycling bargains but we aren't interested in your negative snide remarks!

          Since the law in NSW only allows people either under the age of 12 or those supervising riders under the age of 12 to ride on footpaths( http://roadsafety.transport.nsw.gov.au/stayingsafe/bicyclist…) , and as there are limited cycle paths around, it is common sense for only kids under 12 and parents of kids under 12 to ride bikes? You better give Cadel Evans a call!

          @2ndeffort:
          It should be changed, because cars and push bikes dont mix, mainly from a safety perspective, but because bike riders like to risk their lives they wont even want to change it.
          But will always blame the car for doing wrong.

          @tuzii: But mixing cyclists and pedestrians is OK? I was cycling at 45Km/hr on the flat and over 75Km/hr down hills on the weekend, would I have been safer doing that on the footpath?

        • -4

          @2ndeffort:
          I bet you went over the prescripted speed limit on the road by going 75KM/h down hills.

        • +3

          @tuzii: Nope 75 zone and you might be surprised to learn that I was wearing a helmet, had blinking lights and obeyed all road rules. I was also one of thousands of riders out raising money for the Smith Family as part of the 'Around the Bay in a Day' charity ride in Melbourne, i think the event raised over a million dollars for homeless youth. As hard as this might be for you to believe, the team I rode for had over 400 riders and we saw thousands of others, aside from one moron not wearing a helmet I didn't see a cyclist break a road rule all day! None of us rode a single cm on a footpath, all of the 210Km I rode was on the road!

          @2ndeffort:
          pretty sure melb phased all the 75km zones out and replaced them with 70km zones.
          good on you for the charity ride

          @tuzii:
          I've ridden a bike twice since I was a kid, but if we have to choose either bikes or cars, I guess I'll be picking bikes.
          If you are concerned about cyclists on the road, or doubt your skill level to avoid hitting one, it would be wise for you to hand in your license.

          I think it shows incredibly poor taste for you to come into this thread, demean cyclists, and then damn this charity work with faint praise.

    What does the insurance cover?

  • +1

    ^Thanks Hello007, I live in QLD and this is cheaper than the equivalent BQ (bicycle queensland) insurance here. I've signed up to this deal. This gives me insurance if I accidentally injure someone else, or damage a car, or myself.

  • Thanks OP.
    I dont ride regularly, but bought it anyways as it would help Bicycle NSW, and me in the worst case, hope I dont require to use it.
    Thanks lucky.ozbargain, coupon code "mapark" brought it down to 28.90.

  • This deal is still working, so I've emailed the mods to remove the 'expired' label.
