Best in-ear headphones for ~$50?

Hello! I was wondering if anyone could recommend a pair of in-ear headphones for around $50. Comfort would be the most important factor, followed by sound quality. For us with an iPod, so iPod controls would be a bonus, but not required.

Would be great if someone could recommend a place to get them on eBay too, as I have that $50 voucher to spend! Thanks!

  • I recommend TDK noise reduction ear buds. Got 'em from Dick Smith last year and they are magic. Wife has a pair too, loves 'em.

Xiaomi piston 3. They were like $17 on banggood with the coupon when I bought mine.

have a look at the chinese thread on head-fi

  • +1 for the Xiaomi Pistons, I have the Piston 2.0s and LOVE them!!

  • If you can try out EarPods, since the confort on them do depend on how your ears are shaped, I'd say they are alright if you don't find them uncomfortable. EarPod is an open earphone, meaning that they don't isolate the noises from ourside or stop sound going out as much as the closed ones would, which is beneficial sometimes (in terms of road safety), but not always desired (i.e. in a public transport). I'd recommend getting it from those people who've bought an iPhone (I bought my gf's one for $25) if you can find a real one (there are so many fake ones out there).

Somebody already mentioned Piston 3 so I am going to skip on that one.

  • I picked up a pair of sennheiser CX300-IIs for about $40 on one of Dick Smith's 'MEGA CRAZY NEVER TO BE REPEATED' sales, their sound quality is pretty solid (from what I can tell with my peasant ears), and the build seems good, although they have that annoying asymmetric thing where one earbud cable is longer than the other. MSRP is $99 but they are regularly on sale for ~$40.

PM / email the rep from MEElectronics - many on this site have these brand earphones.

the whole range are by most account very good for the money - i have a couple of the lower end models and will vouch for them - youd probably get 2 pairs for $50 - i think thats what i did over a year ago , one sport model and one standard….they still go strong.

Heres one of his posts - maybe he will do a deal for ozbargain if you ask nicely

  • I completely forgot to mention this, but if you got the $50 from recent eBay events that gave you $50 voucher for spending $100+, I think you cannot split the voucher (i.e. spend it on $10 good, you lose entire $50 voucher). So you might be better off overshooting it a little.

    • Thanks for the reminder. I was planning on buying something else if I didn't use the whole $50 on the headphones. :)

  • Thanks for the feedback, I'll check out the ones mentioned above!

  • I can recommend these http://www.amazon.com/JVC-HAFX40B-Quality-In-Ear-Headphones/…

Comfortable (to my ears), but might need a couple of days 'break in' time depending on your sound preference.

Comes to about $30 AUD shipped
