That's an interesting band you purchased. It's got links in it, but made out of polyurethane. Would be good if the clasp was black too.
I am currently wearing the first(?) Truffol metal band for the original Pebble. Quality is top notch and I've only gotten a little bit the black worn off (hardly noticeable) from using the keyboard on a glass desk. Would definitely consider Truffol again.

My sister has a white Pebble and i am planning to get her the more update version but not sure whether to get the Time or Time Steel as both might look too big for her/female. In fact, the black was the only one that was available for me to order at the time. They didn't have the other two colours on the system even, so that's even weirder (and more annoying).
I'm very glad I cancelled my Dick Smith order and bought from Pebble during their sale. PTS from Pebble arrived a week ago and my Truffol watchband yesterday. Very nice. Worth the extra money to avoid Dicky.

I went to Knox Dick Smith and checked with the girl there.
She looked on the computer and told me there's none in stock anywhere.
She even told me it's not even officially listed in there system.
However they do have the Pebble Time Matte Black in stock for $199.
I bought one today and bought a steel wrist band on ebay for $13.31 including postage.

The stainless wrist band looks pretty legit in photo and if it turns out to be crap, I'm only going to lose $13.61.
It's really worth the risk.
So $199 + $13.61 = $212.61.
Which is roughly the same price as advertised in the DS catalogue.
My understanding is, the Pebble Time Steel is just a Pebble time shipped with a separate stainless steel wrist band.
Dick Smith deserves to go under for false advertising.

Unfortunately, you're mistaken on a number of points.
It's demonstrably untrue that "it's not even officially listed in there [sic] system". I have bought and paid for it twice, using their part number. The part numbers are even listed in their catalogue, let alone on their computer system.
Secondly, a number of people have walked in off the street and collected theirs in-store.
Thirdly, the Pebble Time and the Pebble Time Steel are two different watches. If nothing else, the Pebble Time Steel has a metallic casing rather than plastic. Hence, surprisingly, the "steel" part of the name. It also has a bigger battery. They even have a side-by-side comparison on their site: https://www.pebble.com/compare

Get your facts straight before you post.
As already mentioned, the PT is plastic and has 7 days battery life, the PTS is metal and has 10 days battery life. It doesn't come with a steel wristband, that's an optional extra, it comes with a leather wristband.
Some people have already picked up their PTS from Dick Smith, although only the gold one.
I agree with you, Dick Smith are dicks for advertising a product that's not in stock. But there's no need for personal attacks when someone calls you out for false information because you didn't do your research.
I ordered gold but I've yet to obtain them :(

And yes, MOVE is a brand of Dick Smith Electronics, hence the ability to sell them and the ability to sell them at the same crazy prices that Dick Smith is selling them at (ie they've done a straight $US -> $AU swap and then discounted the Pebble Time Steels by a further 15%. WHAT?)
We really should be reporting this catalogue item to the ACCC or whichever relevant authority. What is the point of putting this in for $211 when there is no stock anywhere?

Just called Central Plaza Sydney store. They still don't have any news or ETA on PTS.
The Dick Smith "feedback team" told me that PTS Black was due in the distribution centre on Dec 10 (last Thursday) and that they would let me know once they knew further when my store (Redbank, Brisbane) would be expecting stock. Since then I've heard nothing at all and they've been completely unresponsive and not replied to any of my emails. I've also heard nothing from my store since Thursday when I went and chased up my refund for the PTS Black being on sale.
So, yeah. That's coming along.
edit Just got through to my store. I didn't expect they'd have stock yet (apparently it takes a week to get from Syd -> Brs), but nothing's changed on the computer. No evidence anything has happened anywhere, including the delivery to the distribution centre.
wanna know the worst thing? The Gold that I got has an SOS-mode problem. Keeps going into SOS mode at random times

@constantly L8: it's okay, better than my OG Pebble, but I just gave it a full-charge overnight and I'll report back when it starts to die!
@constantly L8: The PTS is listed on the website as being "10 days" battery life, but from the normal Pebble Time's "7 days". Whilst those figures are often best-case scenarios, you'd think it should last at least as long as the original Pebble's "7 days".
@koganei: Nope, changed to a Christmas themed one that doesn't even show the weather. This should be a good test for the battery life! :)
Just called my store. They can now see that there are units on the way to the store, but the guy told me it could be another week away…

Just called my store and the guy said they will transfer stock from another store, will be in-store Saturday.
He also seemed to think that there were two versions, one that comes with a leather band, another with metal band, and after confirming, he assured me mine will come with a metal band. We'll see about that. =P
@koganei: Just before 1 o'clock I received a phone call from my store explaining that they hadn't yet received stock but that a nearby store (the one I mentioned earlier) had, inexplicably, and that he'd arranged with them so that I could just rock up and collect it from there. So I did. SAGA OVER! :D (It's very nice)
While I was there the manager mentioned he'd just taken a phone call from the Cannon Hill store to transfer some stock, to which I said "Aaah, that'd be the other guy". :)
Dunno about that metal band thing though. It certainly doesn't come in the box, and there's been no mention of them being available… Still, good luck.

I recharged my PTS on Wednesday and had it at 100% at 11pm on Wednesday, 2.5 days later and its at 40% :/ I get lots of notification during the day so I guess its heavy use
I'm really hoping for a week battery life
or at least when it reaches 20% it'll last the day till I get home to recharge. Like if I get the low battery notification (20%) in the morning, I want it to last the day till I get home at night to recharge it over night
will have to wait and see on day 5 :P

@constantly L8: I'll change my vibration setting now too! I switched to Android to give it a little test, hopefully will solve battery issues too. Are you on iPhone or Android?
@ryanj: Just a suggestion guys; try ignoring the battery meter and just use until it powers down. The percentage given is only an estimation. I've had my PTS for 3 months and as a heavy user on iOS I consistently get over a weeks use off one charge.

The other day I called up a near-by DS (not where I pre-ordered) and to my surprise the guy said he had one PTS Black in stock remaining. I asked him to set it aside for me and rushed down to the store during my lunch break. Unfortunately it turned out to be a PT - he missed the "steel" bit.

I rang my store a couple of weeks ago just to get an ETA and he said "I think your Pebble Time Steel just came in! I have it in my hands!". Upon further discussion though, he had in one hand a Pebble Time and in the other a Pebble Steel.

yeah I went to DS on Saturday to check if my PTS steel had arrived and the guy said yes and went out back. Came out saying it was my lucky day, christmas has come early, I should be so grateful about how lucky I was… then I saw the box and face palmed in my mind :P fml was soooo excited then bummed. they apologised and were nice at least

I've got my PTS Black! They just got them today at Northland, VIC. I think only a few units, but mine was preordered.
Had to look at it multiple times to make sure I was not mistaking it for either a Pebble Steel or a Pebble Time lol.

It is leather, colour is like that gunmetal black. Design looks ok. But because of the way the leather band is packaged (it's wrapped around another box), it is all scuffed up and imperfect looking.
I've just put on my Truffol metal band and looks great. I actually had some reservations about how the squarish face would look, but now that it's on my wrist it looks quite nice. Not too big.
I called Central Plaza Sydney store today again and they still don't have any stock.

@hastetowaste: Got mine from George Street Large store. I went to Sydney Central Plaza store and they told me they still waiting for stock. They checked online and told me George Street Large got few but not sure if they are customer order or available for purchase. I went there to check and it was available to purchase. Got them to put one on hold, went back to Central Plaza store since these 2 are opposite each other, paid $211 (PTS Black is still on special price at Central Plaza) and got them to make a note to pick up from George Street Large. Over 2 months wait is at last OVER.

Anyone had any luck getting a metal band thrown in? Just got one for a present but they expected the band to be metal (as pictured in the catalogue - also says its water resistant but I wouldn't go in water with leather!)
DSE don't and won't have the metal bands. Order directly from Pebble or any other 22mm band will fit.
So just a case of misleading advertising. Might be worth asking for a store credit. Pretty poor form!
@barryquinn: I've asked DSE about this a few times. I've been told that Pebble have no plans to supply DSE with steel bands. They have to be purchased directly from Pebble.
