For those wanting the ON protein, I'm currently negotiating a deal with Aminoz on the 10lb that should be quite decent. And will include at least one freebie and free shipping

    • +2

      Negotiate a 5lb deal as well ;)

      • +4

I actually asked for a 10lb deal 2 months ago and the rep got back to me yesterday. I just requested a few other things to be added to deal. If they agree deal should be up in a few days

    • Yes please.

    • Looking forward to it!

    • You're a god among men EC. Can't wait for it

    • How's that negotiation going EC? :)

  • I like the convenience of protein powder but I've recently taken to eating Chobani fat free yoghurt instead. Is protein powder superior in anyway? Healthwise/costwise?

I find a few drops of vanilla stevia and fat free yoghurt makes for a really yummy and healthy preworkout snack!

Stevia always sounds like an STI to me

If you make comparisons with different proteins whey is considered the most superior due to its 100% bioavailability and speed of absorption.

In other words, it will feed your muscles sooner and your body will utilise 100% of the product giving you a better chance of recovery.

The importance of recovery is relative to progressing with your development though that is also relative to your personal goals.

Most bodybuilders use whey protein whether it be the concentrated of isolated version for the reasons stated above, its cost effective, pleasant tasting and most of all convenient!

      Below is a copy of a protein bioavailability chart;

      Whey Protein Isolate Blends 100-159
      Whey Concentrate 104
      Whole Egg 100
      Cow's Milk 91
      Egg White 88
      Fish 83
      Beef 80
      Chicken 79
      Casein 77
      Rice 74
      Soy 59
      Wheat 54
      Beans 49
      Peanuts 43

it will feed your muscles sooner and your body will utilise 100% of the product giving you a better chance of recovery.

This is just a Myth that companies use to market the products.

        Most bodybuilders use whey protein

Not true. I train with bodybuilders who compete every year and they rarely have protein. They always have food with them in a container, and as soon as they finish the workout they eat real food immediately.

Protein is to be used as a supplement only. If you can eat real food that this is highly recommended. If not, then a dose of Protein until you can eat something but don't delay a meal just because you had a protein shake.

Just seems like your misleading people to get some referral credit.

        • And once again you butt in with your "opinion" when simple facts have been stated.

The bioavailability chart is factual so read it and learn something instead of pretending you know it all!

You are basing your statements on your suggestion that you know people who compete?! What an amusing statement lol

Whey protein is a complete food, hence why it is on the bioavalability chart.

Anyone who is on the gas doesn't need to take supplements and if you had any clue of what your speaking of then you'd actually know that most competitors are not natural.

lol at you trying to market your referral.

You should go read research before you make comments like this

I've been training for over 8 years, started by always using Whey Protein. Now i have a tub that's been sitting in my cupboard for over 4 months. I now cook my food in advance in lots of 12 meals and freeze it (Basmati Rice with meat and vege's ). As soon as i finish a workout, put the meal in the microwave for 5 minutes and its ready to eat. This method helped me increase my weight by ~ 6kg over 2 month with minimal fat gain.

If anyone wants any advise, please feel free to pm me rather than relying on comments of a noob in this field

        • @easternculture: Ohh wow 8 years?! lol

Researched, been there, done that and obviously more than you'd ever have the likelihood of knowing.

If you actually knew what you were on about you would know that bodybuilding is an imperfect science.

Coming from a family that owned an actual fitness centre, having been in that environment and studied in the same field since I was a teenager gives me an informed opinion, unlike yourself.

        • @cristobaljames:

Coming from a family that owned an actual fitness centre

Then this makes complete sense. You would try and convince people to use supplements as this is the primary money generator of fitness centers, protein powders are marked up by 200 - 500% and the usual selling of protein shakes for $5 - $7 at gyms (which literally costs less than $1 or 50c with a lower quality protein)

This is from the experts that are supposed to be making money from selling supplements

Aside from the convenience, the truth about protein supplements is that they offer few advantages over protein foods. There is no scientific evidence that you cannot meet all of your protein needs for muscle growth through food. As long as you eat every three hours and you eat a complete protein such as eggs, lean meat or dairy products with every meal, it is not necessary to consume any protein supplements to get outstanding results. Whey protein does have some interesting and useful properties and supplementing with a couple of scoops a day is not a bad idea, especially if you are on a low calorie diet for fat loss. Aside from that, focus on real food and do not believe all the hype you read.

        • @easternculture: Wrong again, not all gyms sell supplements but equipment related to the catered activities yes.

There you go quoting bodybuilding.com like its your bible, seems to me that your brainwashed by what you think is EBP when your experience is evidently minimal.

Interesting how you have changed your previous comments after clearly being shot down for your lack of knowledge! lol

        • @cristobaljames:

          not all gyms sell supplements

The majority do. And you trying hard to sell your referral proves that your driven by selling supplements. Especially after your first post was deleted while you tried to dupe mine lol

There you go quoting bodybuilding.com like its your bible

Nope, it was the first hit when i used google.

Interesting how you have changed your previous comments after clearly being shot down for your lack of knowledge!

LOL, seems like you lack knowledge when your trying to convince people to buy protein powder instead of eating real food. And yet you claim you studied this field. A nutritionist/personal trainer would always recommend real food.

  • If anyone wants to gain an unhealthy 6 kilos of bodyweight in two months follow you?

Your making claims based on anecdotal evidence of what you supposedly done, on what your "friends" do, its a joke.

The facts are the facts, protein is protein and we all need it. Where you get it from is up to the individual.

You are certainly no guru, not here, not in the gym.

Your negative approach to this post is obviously fuelled by your jealousy of someone with superior knowledge and I'd be willing to bet a physique better than your own.

I've been training for over 20 years so your a novice in my opinion, you are full of bro science when as I've mentioned, bodybuilding is an imperfect science.

Remember when I started lifting supplements were rare an ineffective so we had little alternative but to eat "real" food.

I've been on both sides of the fence and whey protein is simply superior to any other source you may choose to consume, facts are facts. Unless of course you are lactose intolerant by genetic disposition which judging by your username may be the case which is why it isn't a viable option for "you".

The point you have been missing is when to take whey protein and its best taken post-workout for recovery purposes. Of course there are times when you want to heat some oatmeal and stir a couple scoops of tasty protein powder through for a quick and easy breakfast, which goes back to my other point of convenience.

Even if you were to chug 20 egg whites you would be struggling to get the same effect, it would be messy, more costly and the subsequent gas attack would be enough to make you question the method all together.

Not only is whey cost effective, tasty and fully digestible it has immune boosting qualities which are found in the small quantities of fats usually found in the concentrated variety.

Please go peddle your negativity, foul language, bullying tactics and lack of practical knowledge elsewhere like that pathetic Bookface page in your links.

I'm sure some of us here are actually sharing for the benefit of others, not trying to "one up" so they maintain some sort of false street cred which you think you have.

I'd advise people to avoid the strawberry flavours, they smell amazing but have no taste what so ever, it's a tad depressing :(
