  • Expiry date on pack?

    • Didn't check. Sorry

      • That may be a reason for clearance if sale is only at 1 store - short expiry.

But, given you say these are marked as 4G SIMs, probably pretty new stock. I recently received Boost packs marked 'will not work on 4G' despite change to 4G, with expiry 3/17.

Always check expiry date before purchase.

Nice…..technically, you could get 11GB data from this sim in the first month.

The sunday bonus of 1GB is currently 2GB.

  • And if the packaging doesn't say it Boost is now 4G instead of 3G if your device is 4G compatible.

    • packaging said Boost 4G

  • JB sold me with expiry on 4/10/15, with their recent half price deals, so looking to activate it a week prior to expiry hoping it would go through but the Boost online system flatly denied it, calling Boost to assist with the activation, didn't help much at all, Boost told me that the current sim should start with 8000 series serial number, so if you have other number than that, you need to get it swapped back.

    • Boost / Telstra recycle numbers from starter packs before expiry date. Has been discussed before.

Have had real problems with activation on Boost & Telstra near expiry date. Really is a hassle. Activation is refused as SIM is 'invalid'.

Complaining by phone, I was told to swap at Telstra Shop. But Telstra Shop refused to swap on day before expiry. Manager became abusive, even though Telstra caused the problem. Finally a helpful Telstra person online gave me credit equivalent to the Telstra starter pack as the only solution. (Handy as it is then counted as a recharge.) Boost never did help & I gave up after same activation hassles with Telstra.

So best not to leave these packs until near expiry date.

Always check expiry date before purchase. Stores offload short expiry SIMs at sales.

Just checked my Boost SIMs - 8000 series serial number :-)

  • Merged from Boost $40 Starter Pack for $16 (Clearance) - Woolworth's Brisbane Airport DFO [QLD]

Boost mobile $40 prepaid sim starter kit (for standard/micro sim). Includes 3gig data, and unlimited talk & text.

Saw it behind the counter at Woolworth's Brisbane Airport DFO with a $16 clearance price tag on it. They had about 5 on the shelf (I bought one).

NOTE that this is short-dated - after I bought it, sticker on back states that the sim expires on 20 Oct 2015.

Similar to this deal from a week or so ago at Woolworth's Sandgate, they must clear out the packs when they get close to expiry: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/214003

  • re: the short expiry stock issue.

Just activated the sim I bought under this deal, just 5 days prior to expiry (on 20th OOctober), & it went through no worries… :-)

Also - went into the Woolies at Brisbane DFO today and checked again - looks like they now have about 10 on the shelf. Get them whie they last! :-)

It's easy to check the validity of the SIM - go online or call Boost & try activating with number on sticker on back of pack. If there is a problem (number has been recycled), it will show as 'invalid'. Best to return unopened pack & swap.

Has been angrily discussed before. Packs usually have a 2 year expiry. As numbers are expensive for telcos, that's a long time to tie up a resource.
My good Telstra number was given away to a post paid customer. My Boost number similarly was recycled. It is frustrating trying to resolve the matter.
