Vivitar HD Camcorder - RED or BLACK - $5 @ MSY Ultimo NSW

100

Just came back from Ultimo grabbed about 2 of them in stock, asked the person at the store they said they have about 50 not to sure about other stores they have both red and black

From other ad.
Stumbled across this deal for a Vivitar DVR1020HD-LIC HD camcorder for $5 on the MSY promotions page.

Available in both black and red.

Appears to be stock in most stores however no indication of how much stock is on hand.

I can't imagine that this will give your Go-Pro or Sony camcorder a run for its money but for $5 it's worth trying out.

Can't see any online. Is this the same model that had loads of cancelled orders a couple of weeks ago?

Yes, looks to be the same model; Vivtar 1020HD

    • I think u just walk in and grab how many u want

  • Anyone who purchased this from the last deal find you have to record in 720P to get the best result as shooting in 1080P and panning the video looks choppy/jerky?

Not sure if it is because of the camera's cheap components or my PC not being able to playback 1080P video smoothly.

Thanks OP. Just got one for myself. And my mum also has got one too. I got the black camcorder. There's probably more or less than 20 left. Mostly black and reds. Vivitar 1020HDs for $5 in a cabinet at Ultimo in the city.

Quick follow up. It seems my camcorders sensor has a defect in it. Google "sensor defect corrosion". My camcorder has white spots when you shoot or record dark places. My lens is clean. I wonder if that's why these are cheap and I pretty much know they won't accept returns. Only manufacturers warranty I think. Which could be another hassle to send out by mail and me paying for shipping (actually wait. inside the packet there's a yellow note saying "please do not return to store, please call our tech support number". I don't really care and it's just $5 dollars and this records like a toy but the build quality is great, feels heavy and nice. My compact camera which is a Olympus Mju 5010 records way clearer 720p videos than this. And my Drift HD 1080p motorcycle action cam also records a little bit better than this Vivitar thing. "This is just a heads up if anyone's thinking of buying this". My mum also has one but she doesn't want to open it. Lastly please let me know if you also have encountered this defect. Thanks. Here's a very quick uploaded video sample of the defect https://youtu.be/5Br6b_S5MuU (please view it in 1080p).
