Its an ok deal I guess.

But there are free alternatives which will mean you don't have to put your credit card number in and you don't have to worry about getting charged 6 months later.

  • You can bet your bottom dollar in 6 months time there will be a charge on your credit card for renewal. Perhaps thats not fair but thats my opinion of Mcafee. There are better options.

neutral vote from me, auto charge cc + there are free alternatives. McAffee came with a free 6 months with my new comp, it was the first thing i uninstalled lol

  • You can use Avast or AVG for free. I'd be worried about calling a US number to cancel the auto-credit card payment, with time zone differences etc.

I am liking MS Security Essentials, seems pretty good to me for free.

      • it seems to go ok, except it keeps thinking a url in one of my mp3s is a trojan :( and it cant/wont remove it.

  • I just use http://www.virustotal.com/ these days. I'm careful enough and always chechk any dodgy file I want to run with that. It scans the file with every well known virus scanner available, and its free.

    • but virustotal won't provide real-time scanning of your PC

  • Another vote for MS Security Essentials. (Yes, believe it or not, it's actually very good.)
