You could try taking them to a video store if there is still one in your area.

    What is a CD ?

    • A CD is a cash deposit.

Don't ask me what cash is though.

    • A format that ignorant people ignore, so they can feel better about downgrading to MP3.

The Video Ezy store near me has a disc "grinding" machine and it restored a scratched Wii disc of mine.

It didn't take out all the scratches, but the girl behind the counter said she was happy to put it through the machine again if it didn't work with one go.

However, one grind seems to have done the trick. Cost me $4 I think.

    • oh thanks heaps, I had no idea they consider it a service.

It's probably one of the last things that actually generates any revenue for them

        • I love how no one has recommended me to actually buy a machine or anything.
          Best group of people =)

      • Were you thinking it was free?

        • nah nah, I've only ever seen a disc grinding machine in a local video shop near my gf's house.
I didn't realize you could pay to use it. I'll just go there and pay them to clean my discs

You can achieve a similar "grinding" effect by rubbing the disk with toothpaste using a rag.

Use a circular motion and rub reasonably hard.

      Then rinse off with water.

      • no! Don't use a circular motion. Save that for a car.

Always center to outer edge for a digital disc.

  • It is likely $4 per disc.
Google it. Dij1 is right. I have done it myself with warm water, toothpaste, a soft cloth etc. and I got all of the game discs for PS2 and Wii working.
Seriously, do a bit of research on the net. It will be worth your while.

  • Toothpaste and a tissue… Works a treat and your cds will smell minty fresh, and then I read the 2 comments above

  • Not sure, if serious

    • Toothpaste works in removing the deeper scratches, however it creates a lot of fine surface scratches in the process. Gets the job done though.
