Great freebie. Adult tickets are normally $30 pp, saving of $60.

    Thanks OP

  • I can't seem to see the deal - how do you get the tickets?

    • Never mind, figured it out.

  • Thanks op, big foodie so this looks great!

  • Thanks OP. Legend.

Sign up for a Citibank card before you go! You'll get a free wine-tasting glass if you present your Citibank card :)
Source: Went to GFWS @ Syd

    • Do you think it is worth attending? Are their samples to try etc? Thanks

      • +3

I go every year, it's fantastic. Almost endless food, drink and booze samples. A great day out!

      • There are samples to try, and I would go again if I had time. Carry antihistamines with you if you're allergic (Zyrtec, Telfast or Claratyne).

I would take precautions against being roped into buying products there though.
Innocent bystander (Moscato) is definitely worth getting if you like a sweet Moscato that's easy to drink.
DM sells the 750mL bottle for $19
They sold the same one for $15 from memory at GFWS at the stall.
They also had a new packaging in 6 x (4packs of 275mL bottles) for $90
Litre wise, that's $25.3/L from DM for single 750mL
$20/L for the single 750mL from GFWS stall
or 6.6L (the 24 carton pack) for $90, equates to $13.63/L

P.s. that stall has Paywave! So if you still have an ING or MEBank 5% card, even better :) :)

        • Thanks @quadcaster and @cwongtech I am more a sucker for chocolates and sweets than alcohol

        • @loulou1:
Theres a few chocolate stands, a lot more emphasis on cheese, wine, exotic alki (lychee beer), kangaroo meat (have to buy in bulk, same brand as the one sold in woolies), traditional cultural cuisines, new products

  • thanks, grabbed them as well.

+1 OP! But I thought I'd share my experience.
I got two of these for the Sydney one. I don't know if it was all the Ozbargainers with these free tickets or it is just that crowded in general; but I honestly didn't think it was worth going there. Stand in line for at least 10 minutes per stall for free tastings really wasn't something I was expecting. Everything was quite overpriced IMO and the wines varieties really was limited. Only the cheap wines were offered for tastings in most stalls. But what annoyed me the most was the fact that you had to buy just about everything in the venue- the wine glasses, the glass holder, etc. If I had actually paid ~$35 ($70 for us couple), I would have been so pissed off.
Tip: If you are still going and are a member of CitiBank, make sure you go early to grab your free wine glass for tasting. We got there at about 12pm and they had already ran out.

    • Melbourne show usually gets busy around 1-2pm. By then I've already had 3 hours of drinking (I mean tasting). Not sure what to expect in the Brisbane one.

  • You legend! I've been waiting for these and will fly up to check it out. I usually rock the Melbourne one, but I'll give the brisVegas one a shake this time.

  • It seems the show has been slowly getting smaller, and the gourmet providores haven't been as numerous as years past. The alcohol seems to have made up for that though.

  • I have been to the Melbourne show and got to admit that with free tickets, its worth going, but I would not pay money to go these shows - I do not think its worth it.

  • Thanks

  • Just got 2 for Sunday. Cheers!

  • Cheers OP. Two for Fri when I'll be visiting up from Adelaide. Will attend the cheese and wine pairing session too.

  • Thank you.

  • Seems to be expired. I get the error "The promotional code you have entered is not valid or allocation for this code is exhausted.

  • Thanks but my result was

The prmotional code you have entered is not valid or the allocation for this code is exhausted.

Thanks op and well done JediJan

  • Thanks OP, got my tickets earlier today using the code you provided :)

  • I know this deal has expired, but I have a question for those of you who went previously. Is the show child friendly?

    • What exactly do you mean?

      • I am thinking of taking my kids to the event, not sure if it is suitable for kids. Otherwise I might have to find someone to look after them while I am there. :)

They are under 12, so entry should be free, but if it is not a suitable place for kids then I would rather not take them.

        • Yes it is child friendly. I am not sure there will be anything for them specifically, but there should be no problems taking them.
