Samsung Galaxy Note 3 $399 + Free Shipping (Black or White) @ iiNet

470

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 available in Black or White for $399 with free shipping from the iiNet Online Store.

I'm assuming its Australian stock (not that I have ever cared about such things - never needed to make a warranty claim for any smartphone I've ever bought since the HTC HD2)

Not sure what else to say about it. Great deal if you're looking for one.

OW pricematch along with coles myer 10% off GCs would make for a cracking deal.

    • Where do you get the 10% discounted coles myer GCs?

      • Coles sells officeworks gift cards?

        • Yeah but where do you get the extra 10% off for either Officeworks or Coles Myer GCs? Coles only has the DS cards on sale.

        • +1

          @lazybones1987: See: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/213010

I'm assuming they mean 10% from buying from Officeworks at face value - 5% (ie. pay with a giftcard) and then another 5% from the OW price match . (I don't think it works out to 10%, more like 8.5% without working it out).

Coles Myer giftcards, which I haven't found a confirmed way of getting yet, are the equivalent of Woolworths Wish cards in that they can be used for any Coles Myer Group store including Officeworks.

    • +1

Good luck. No way OW will price match with the iiNet store lacking all relevant information

      • what info is it lacking?

        • there is no info on the website about the variant it is.

        • @mrmagoober: No mention of warranty. This means everything to OW.

    • you can't get 10% off on Coles Myer cards!!

    • Ignore 10%.. I confused it with the dick smith gc deal at Coles.

  • Still a very good phone at this price from comparison at GSMArena except it will be stuck at Android 5. Not sure if any custom ROM has all its special features.

    • Just wondering how do you know it will be stuck at Android 5 ?

      • Update History of previous Samsung handsets maybe ??

      • +1

Not sure 100% but this phone is 2 years old. Chances are less and Samsung has poor reputation of not updating the software or updating after 1 year of its release.

        • They updated it (Note3) to Lollipop pretty quickly. Apparently the Note 2 got it as well in certain regions.

        • +2

@Kaboda: My Note 3 is still on 4.4.2, no Lollipop yet.

        • @Kaboda: when? how? no one has OTA to lollipop for their note 3

        • @erwinsie: I bought my wife her phone from Kogan, pretty sure shes had Lollipop on it for at least 4 months now and on my Sony Z2. Our friends phone also another import Note 3 not sure where they purchased it from is also on Lollipop.

        • @Kaboda: thanks.. too sad australian model has not get

        • @erwinsie: Yeah I am quite shocked that it hasn't happened in Australia yet. Bare in mind it might be to do with the phone providers being slow to release it.

I guess that might be the benefit if any of getting a 'grey import'.

        • @Kaboda: actually, i bought mine second hand and i think it is grey import. but i have since put custom rom 4.4.2 therefore no OTA. but yeah alot of 5.0 custom rom outthere

At least, 5.1.1. is in development? The comment I've mentioned down below were from last leaked one I've seen.
This one seems to be the current one.

        • @erwinsie: just install a 5.0 firmware using odin

      • There were some leaked documents that says the 5.1.1. development on Galaxy Note 3 is being held (which is not promising at all), though it could be a fake one.
So even if it gets 5.1.1., it'd likely to stay there.

They announced marshmallow update for note 4 and 5. Almost as good as saying the note 3 will not get it.

For the extra $100 the nexus 6 is probably a better deal unless you really want the s pen.

        • -3

$100 extra to lose spen & microSD.
          Hahahahahaha

        • -1

          @Utopian:

Not everyone needs more than 32gb. I dont.
Many (most?) people i have heard don't use the s pen after the first couple of weeks.

Is it that hard for you to understand that not everyone cares that much about a pen and an sd card? Other than those 2 points the nexus has much better specs and is supported with updates.

        • -2

          @Duff5000: /facepalm
At the same price, the unnoticed extra specs/updates might compare for some. Paying extra is a joke. You gave your opinion, and i gave my reply. Time to move on.

        • -1

          @Utopian: "Hahahahahaha" … "/facepalm"
          Real mature of you.

        • -2

@Duff5000: A facepalm is someone people of all ages do… frustration with the mentality of some people. Not sure what maturity has to do with it. There's just no educating some-people.

        • -1

          @Utopian:

So if someone see better value in a different product than you you think that is worthy of a facepalm?
If someone values different features of a product to you laugh?

Really cant see how both of those come across as immature?

Feel free to keep it up, anyone that wants any other phone than what YOU think is best just laugh and facepalm. The rest of us will maintain a civil conversation and choose whatever product we feel best fits our needs. Surprised I need to actually spell that out.

        • -1

@Duff5000: I don't if if it's the irony thst stinks the most, or you deciding you're the voice of the people. But your upsell of 'value' will always be interesting.

        • -1

          @Utopian:

Congrats on forming a sentence that makes no sense… Feel free to continue this conversation with yourself though.

        • -1

@Duff5000: Apart from a one letter phone-induced typo, even a child could understand. Blinkers make it hard. You're here to criticise a deal for a different phone/features than your more expensive preference. Guessing we'll see you in every phone deal. Really helping the community.

    • The aussie ROM still hasn't been updated for 5, so I wouldn't be surprised if that really is the last update.

      • That's hardly a good guide for determining whether updates are arriving given the sometimes seemingly idiotically long periods between regions getting the same version.

      • just install a 5.0 firmware using odin

    • That's pretty bad support by Samsung. Yeah this phone is still great, pity about no updates.

  • +1

Galaxy Note 3 vs Redmi Note 2?

    • Galaxy Note.

Samsung did the Note right, with the SPen and multi tasking apps etc.

Xiaomi just followed the Note moniker after Samsung, as they do, but it's just a big phone.

    • Note has S pen. That would be a main selling point for some people.

  • +2

is it worth it to upgrade from note2 to this?

    • +5

I have a Note 3 - it is much faster than the Note 2, has better battery life and stylus.

      • +3

and much better Full HD screen

    • +1

i did upgrade from note 2, and yes, worthed! in every way.

  • +2

I should say I already have a Note 3 - unlocked the bootloader, installed a custom recovery and then installed the AryaMod ROM - runs really smoothly and gets pretty decent battery life (certainly better than my LG G4).

    • G4 is your spare phone is it?

      • +1

Nah G4 is my daily driver

Also still have my Xperia Z2 I use from time to time

Never really warmed to the Note 3 to be honest - its a bit thick and bulky for my liking (especially compared to the G4)

        • +1

which camera is better in daily real usage? G4 or Note 3?

        • +2

@wiltonson: G4 by a country mile. Note 3 is so slow to focus in comparison.

        • You are the PhoneMan.

  • -3

    wats normal price

  • What are the specs, because the website does say which variant of the note 3 it is.

  • Can anyone confirm if this is the N9005 (LTE model)?

  • +1

    Dammit stop tempting me

  • Damn man…

I don't want nor need a big phone, but seriously, this is such a good deal. FU?

    Also black or white?

    • Not for someone who doesn't even want a device from the same planet as the Note 3.

  • Is it locked to any network?

  • Out of stock now.

  • damn missed out!

  • +1

The phone I have right now, been using it for over a year and it's awesome!

Wanted to upgrade to Note 5, but no SD card slot… sad.

    • Pretty much in the same boat. Not sure if I'll go the note 5 or try something else. The bloatware on Samsung phones annoy me greatly.

      • +2

That's why the first thing I do is root the phone to remove the bloat, install AdAway and replace the launcher with Nova. Then it's as good as new.

        • Maybe I'll give it a crack with my Note 3 and if it works out I'll just hold on to it. Cheers.

        • That's why the first thing I do is root the phone to remove the bloat, install AdAway and replace the launcher with Nova.

          OK.

Then it's as good as new.

But the first thing you did was "remove the bloat", installed Adaway and replaced the launcher. And it's exactly the same as you said …

That would make sense since the "bloat" as you put it doesn't slow the phone down unless you use one of the applications categorised as "bloat". Or kill the process - since then it has to reload the application it actually makes the device slower but this doesn't stop people experiencing miracle speed increases from killing their application that was hibernating.

Battery life is a different story.

        • @Diji1:

I remember when I did this, I used XDA which has a list of items to remove using Titanium Pro. Some of them run in the background.

I used the list so I don't get force closes, because as you said, if you kill the process, it will reload again, so you have to remove it. Killing the process has been a no-no in Android for a very long time, as far as when I used the Galaxy S2.

If you use Greenify, it identifies what's using your battery, what keeps waking it up. After I found which apps was doing it, I hibernated them, and then my battery life was AMAZING on Note 3.

      • +1

I went with from Note 3 to Moto X Style

No bloat, fast, same size screen but more pixels. No stylus but never used it myself. Battery life is worse but livable - and has a sd card slot

        • Same screen size, but without Samsungs Multi Window, or any multi tasking ability.

  • +1

Note 5 with No SD Card slot and non-removal battery is the biggest drawback for me, I am upgrading my phone but I would go to Note3~Note4 instead.

    • No idea why you would do that other than if you cannot live life without the S-Pen or S-Apps …

  • How do you root the phone?

    • +2

find the info on xda developer website/forum

    • -1

The 'World Wide Web' is at your avail friend.

  • tooo fast… already gone :(

  • So anyone received there phone form this deal ? Are they Australian stock ?

    • Any bloatware installed?

  • It's back in stock… Not sure how to edit the OP though?

  • Can someone let us know:

    1) how fast was delivery
    2) model number of phone (and other details since site is so incomplete)
    3) any other information

    Thanks in advance

    • Uhh damn stock is low, looks like I'll have to go ahead with the purchase. Hopefully the delivery time is faster than iinet's internet.

  • +2

Wow so amazed people buying brand new of this phone. Why not second hand for only $250?
Note: I'm using this phone, big upgrade from note 2.

  • LG G4 is way better deal and only $50 more. Settling for a substandard phone with this deal.

  • Just purchased. Thanks.

I'd be surprised if it isnt Australian stock given it is being sold by iiNet.

  • can anyone confirm that this is a 4G LTE model?

    thanks

  • Has anyone received an email confirmation after their purchase? (cause I haven't)
